    Losing Too Much Weight

I bought the kid-size RX bars, too. For an extra calorie boost. I also started buying milk to drink for extra calories. My stomach is sooooo sensitive that complex carbs make me sick (like quinoa or any breads or pastas). I tried picking at a biscuit over the weekend. I do have a fear of carbs, too, since that was my vice before. But also so many make me sick so it's two-fold. I'm trying to just work in higher calorie foods of other types. I do feel like I eat a good amount. I don't have nearly the same restriction I did and I get hungry quickly, even after a high protein meal. I ate a full 6oz steak, a pile of coleslaw, a bowl of tomato soup, and green beans for lunch the other day and was fine. But still losing weight fast.

    Medical bias post-op

bruises running down my spine I noticed just yesterday. no doctor had even looked at my back. I told my PCP yesterday i was still in a lot of pain and she said to go back to the ER. um, no. i am so disaffected by my medical care this past week. i am taking some leftover meloxicam and tramadol, as needed, and the prednisone and i will persevere without any more BS. it is a *bit* better, i think. or it could be the prednisone helping. i have a short window in the mornings where it doesnt hurt so bad i can function. i missed almost all week of work last week so I can't do that again. Medical bias post-op

Neither. I injured myself weight-lifting. I hadn't lifted for 3 weeks since my skin removal and went a bit too hard on my first day back. I have arthritis so I have some arthritic changes in my back from over the years, but nothing that would randomly cause this except trauma (like a sports injury aka me being dumb at the gym). I told ALL the doctors I did circuit training and weight lifting and they all ignored that bit. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    GOOOOOAALLLLL

Thanks everyone! And I am apparently still losing - although very, very slowly now. But I also haven't been exercising lately due to a minor surgery and now an injury.
  7. I was on Prilosec for 6 months post-op; no weight gain. I am also on Prilosec again because I need to take an NSAID for something so they gave it to me to help prevent issues - no weight gain.
  8. I ate half and the chocolate is super rich tasting so I put the rest in the fridge. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

  11. I stopped smoking regularly in 2016 before my breast reduction. Over the last two years (prior to WLS) I would smoke on OCCASION while driving or if out socially. I haven't smoked at all since last August (I had WLS in November). But the last two weeks I've started having a few cigarettes again. I know it's bad, especially because I already had a post-op ulcer. I am struggling since I was pulled off one of my anxiety medications due to changes from WLS and my anxiety is much worse. I am working with my psych doc now to find new medicines to help me, but in the meantime I see myself turning back to cigarettes! Any advice on something else I can do to help distract me from my anxiety instead of turning to another harmful coping mechanism?? I have Tourette's and my motor tics get really bad when I am anxious... and the more tics I have, the more anxious I get. It's a vicious cycle. I don't want to start smoking regularly again, but it helps me in the moment. =/

    Low iron & vitamin D

I had low vitamin D lonnngg before surgery. Took supplements on and off. The surgeon gave me those 50,000 IU prescription vitamin D pills to take pre-op. Now I take 4,000 IU vitamin d pills daily, post-op.

    Smoking Post-Op

If they nicotine test you, they may. My doctor didn't nicotine test me. I quit before surgery, but started up again. Struggling to quit still.... and I am in a similar boat because now I have upcoming skin removal surgery and if I don't quit, it can affect blood circulation and cause my incisions not to heal.

    my personal little official thread

It just occurred to me.... I have a dragon tattoo right where the tummy tuck incision is going to be. The whole body of the dragon will probably be scrunched up. It will just be a head attached to a tail!! lmao!

    GOOOOOAALLLLL

I dressed like a baggy slob for a really long time. But now I just get walmart clothes. They're actually not bad, lol. Also us.shein.com sells really nice clothes super cheap!

    Scared

Complications aren't common and that ones that are are typically fixable and not nearly as dramatic as whatever happened to that woman. I had some complications (ulcer/hernia) and some others in this thread did, as well, but I guarantee that none of us would ever say we regret it! I thought I did while I was going through the issues, but they were fixable and not-so-terrible in hindsight. Don't be afraid - this is life-changing and well worth it!!
  17. I went out for sushi and had, for the first time since surgery, rice, banana, seaweed salad, and avocado. I also tried sea urchin (which is repulsive). Either way, I don't know what I ate but HOLY CRAP. My stomach burns like FIRE. Like "YOU HAVE AN ULCER IMMEDIATELY" fire. I did eat too much, I know, but eating too much has never made me feel like this! It actually burns so so bad! I took some Pepcid and some mystery gas medicine a coworker gave me. Please pray. lol. Semi-related - how "long" does it take to stretch the pouch? I *occasionally* eat too fast or overeat a bit to where I burp a little. Not every day or anything like that; I don't make it a habit... but it happens. Does OCCASIONAL overeating affect your pouch or is it routine? Does overeating "slider" foods affect it at all, or just dense foods that would push things outwards?
  18. I've had food poisoning before, but didn't know if I would react differently since we don't really vomit anymore. Ah well. Anyways, no more anything listed above for me. lol.
  19. I don't think I will truly know since I had so many new things at the same time (my b). I DID have a few pieces of sushi in the past, but poked out most of the rice. I'm sort of thinking it was combo food poisoning from the sea urchin which tasted BAD and maybe the seaweed salad bulking up really badly. ;(
  20. I've used wasabi before with no issue. I was in serious serious pain until 8PM and have had some indigestion today. Like the pain was just getting worse and worse as time went on. The SEVERE pain last 8-9 hours. Nothing like dumping or anything. But stabbing doom.

Starting a new job. What about Surgery?

I know plenty of people that if you let them know you have a surgery or a prior vacation scheduled before you got the job, they will still let you take the time off. So, like if you told them you need off on the 8th and for 2 weeks to recover, they may still let you since that was a surgery scheduled well before you accepted the position.
  22. I had my one week postop today and I am very dehydrated. I am having trouble swallowing - food and liquid is getting stuck at the bottom of my esophagus before it goes into my stomach. It doesn't come back up. It just sits there for several, long moments and then drops. I am trying to force myself to drink anyways. They said it *could* be a stricture, but it's too early to tell and could just be sensitive from recent surgery. I tried looking up strictures and all I can find are the ones connecting your stomach to intestine. Nothing about your esophagus to your stomach. Is this feeling normal? It happens about 80% of the time. Second question. I cannot stop burping. It isnt related to me eating or drinking. It is all.the.time. It doesn't happen when I am laying down, but when I am sitting and standing. And I always feel like I have to force it out. I'm not swallowing any air, because it isn't necessarily happening when I am drinking or eating. Is this just the CO2 coming out still? Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I don't have any advice for this but I will say that almost a year out, there's no preventing constipation for me no matter what I eat. I do a weekly Milk of Magnesia purge.

I have pics of the actual skin that was removed, too, but not sure how people can stomach those things on here. Basically a shape of a taco was cut out. It literally looks like a cheesy taco. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
