Meh to the scale now?
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My starting weight in my ticker is the actual weight on the day of surgery and truly my starting weight. And also the heaviest weight I've ever been. So, I've lost those 130lbs in the last 9 months alone since my surgical date. -

286 115 for the first number. 171 of excess body weight. 65%. I got to 111.15 lbs of expected weight loss. So that minus 286 was 174lbs. -

That's what super weird to me. At 140lbs, I wore a Size 12. Now I am 155 and wear a Size 8. That's why I'm kinda' like... well, I wanted to be a 12 again but I surpassed that so I'm happy. lol. My torso is very small, but until the skin from my arms is gone, I can't really wear long sleeves because nothing is cut right. I need a medium for the torso but a large for the arms or XL. Depends on the fabric, if it's stretchy. -

Hmm. That would make my target weight 174lbs, which is sorta what they said. They just said "160s or 170s at best". That's not taking into consideration any exercise. Mathhhh in the morniinnnggg. -
BMI OF 31 AND 35 LB TO LOSE. IS IT WORTH IT?
mousecat88 replied to nssmia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My insurance only covers it if your BMI is over 35 with comorbidities or over 40 without. My personal opinion is that, barring any serious medical issues from those 35lbs, I wouldn't have my stomach removed and make SUCH a major lifestyle change for it. I should have considered it at maybe 75lbs too heavy or 100. Instead I waited to almost 150lbs overweight... but it honestly wouldn't (and didn't) cross my mind 35lbs overweight... and I personally would not have done it even if it was suggested to me. I would have told that person they were insane for suggesting I chop out my stomach for 35lbs. I was able to lose 65lbs on my own with keto, and if I stuck to it it would still be off... but I went off the rails, hard. If you can stick to something like keto, maybe try that if you haven't? I would exhaust ALL AVAILABLE OPTIONS. My surgeon's office offers medically managed weight loss for people below the BMI thresh hold. It's the Optifast diet coupled with weight loss medication and a strict routine of followups and accountability. Maybe looked into medically managed weight loss programs? -
Do you take calcium supplements if you are getting 4-5 servings of dairy in your diet?
mousecat88 replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I take my calcium supplement in the morning around the same time as I am eating breakfast, which is usually a yogurt or a soy protein shake. I take my evening supplements right after dinner. How much your body absorbs is different for everyone. Like the other poster said, you will just expel whatever your body doesn't need so taking it with food is fine. -

Oh, I know. I just meant like... on people's tickers. Where did that figure come from. -
Start by: 1. Posting your personal goal - 140lbs (???) Although I am happy with how I look and feel now. 2. Add your surgery type, status (pre/post op, losing/maintenance) - RNY, Post-op losing 3. Weight and BMI (not necessary but encouraged) - See ticker below LOL 4. Fun fact about yourself - I am a 60 year old in a 30 year old's body. lmao. I much prefer to be alone and hang out with my cats than go out with friends and party, etc. I've been this way my whole life. I didn't see this til now so I messed up on the social media thing LOL. I don't like coffee, but I discovered nonfat steamed milk with sugar free syrup that I may have to go get for tomorrow....

Yeah, I just can't take the arm skin anymore. I would have a second surgery (probably just lipo at that point) if the skin drooped more in the future. I'm not opposed to multiple plastic surgeries, even on the same spots, if need be. -

How did you guys pick a goal weight? Did you just go off the BMI chart? Did your surgeon set one for you? Did you take into consideration intensity of weight-lifting or anything like that? Ehhhhh. My trainer who abandoned me (lol) until November scheduled me on August 26th in the morning because I have off work that day. I think I may hold off on weighing until then, and see. And get his opinion on it, too. -

My consult is on the 16th. My surgeon's office gave the okay for plastic surgery at 13 months, so I don't think he will have an issue with it. He doesn't typically work with bariatric patients, so I don't think he will have an opinion - especially since my bariatric office said it's fine. I want to schedule it the week of November 18th. -

I am getting a tummy tuck, arm lift, and skin removal from my "side boob". He did a breast reduction in 2017 and said the side boob area was fat and would go away when I lost weight.... which it did not whatsoever. LOL. -

I don't know what my forever goal is supposed to be? lol. I guess that's my issue. Like, what am I supposed to get to. Is the weight I'm at okay if I like it? -
Meh to the scale now?
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just sent this panicky quotation laden message to my surgeon... LOL " " "" "" " " " "" " Do I have a goal weight? No one has discussed this with me. I arbitrarily set it at 140 because that's what I remember "looking good at", except now I am at 156 and 2 sizes smaller than I was at 140 because I have much more muscle mass... but the BMI says I am still "overweight". How do I know when I am "done" losing weight or where should my target be? Is it okay I am still "overweight" since the BMI chart doesn't take into consideration body fat percentage?? I have a consult for skin removal next week and want it done at the end of November. Should I stress about "getting to 140lbs"? " -

I think I am in a funk because of the hovering I am experiencing right now and the fact I have a plastic surgery consult next week. I was "hoping" to get to 140 by November, which is still possible but.... is it necessary. I am smaller than I was at 140. 140 was just an arbitrary number I pulled out my butt. Is the weight I am at okay. I don't knowww. -

I just started getting really obsessive and weighing daily. And the last 2 weeks I've been bouncing from 156 to 158 and it has been DRIVING ME INSANE, so I just want to reject the thing entirely. lolll. -
Diarrhea and work
mousecat88 replied to Sharon B A's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had more issues with constipation than diarrhea in the beginning, but now it's flipped as my stomach has become way more intolerant to foods. Poos all the time. Ugh. Carry spare undies and maybe spare pants in your car. Honestly, I can feel when it's coming and I haul ass to the bathroom. No apologies. lol. -
Do you take calcium supplements if you are getting 4-5 servings of dairy in your diet?
mousecat88 replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I eat primarily dairy and YES TAKE YOUR CALCIUM. You have malabsorption now and are highly likely not getting enough no matter how much you are eating, which is why you are supposed to take those supplements FOR LIFE. I literally eat almost nothing BUT dairy and still take them twice per day. -
I didn't follow the pre-op diet super well because I wanted some last hurrahs. Fortunately, post-op, I don't WANT any of that food anymore so the restrictions don't bother me one bit. It changes your chemistry... and your ability to intake food. Remember that food is for fuel, not fun.
-
I didn't even think of that.... derp. I ordered Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown. I'll check out Amazon!!! TY!
-
Is a pouch reset diet okay to do simply when you don't feel much restriction anymore, but aren't actually gaining any weight? Will it be helpful in any way to bring some feelings of restriction back? I'm finding I can fit a lot more in lately and I don't like it. lol. I was going to do a modified "pouch reset" of protein shakes and a hardboiled egg for 3 days, then purees 2 days, then soft solids for 2 days.

I will always have my e-bond with my fellow BPers. LOL
