    Birth control

Maybe talk to an OBGYN specifically? Lots of options out there. I love my Mirena - no period since 2014, baby! lol.
  4. 8AM - Peach light and fit greek yogurt 10AM - Chomps Italiano Beef Stick 12PM: Leftover spinach salad with a small bit of chicken, roasted red pepper, pepperjack cheese, and sriracha ranch I'm feeling a bit off today (a little queasy, thanks likely to the MOM I took last night), so probably won't have anything again until after the gym tonight. I do usually have a 2 or 3PM snack and then dinner after the gym.

feeling a little antsy. a coworker's friend had a tummy tuck 11 days ago (also a bypass patient) and she was in the hospital for THREE DAYS because she was unable to stand up from the muscles feeling so tight. she is still on heavy pain meds. on the other hand, a friend of mine from law school had it done over spring break and was back perky and chipper at school 7 days later. i am more nervous about the brachioplasty pain. just goes to show how everyone heals so differently. mine's scheduled outpatient.

    Birth control

WHAT?! My doctor told me to start using TWO forms of birth control for the first year after surgery to prevent pregnancy. I have an IUD - Mirena. I also never get laid so that isn't an issue. LOL. But, there are non-latex condoms (I am allergic to latex condoms) and non-hormonal copper IUDs. I've never heard of a doc saying that?? You definitely don't want to get pregnant within the first year!!
  7. I was an emotional wreck after surgery. I was very depressed and cried all the time for NO REASON. I wasn't angry, but I have no history of depression and was in a deep pit. It lasted for about a month before I started leveling out. I also saw my psychiatrist who I get anxiety medication from and she adjusted some things. I would suggest contacting a psychiatrist that can help you out for a while. In theory, it should all level out... lots of hormonal changes right now. I don't recall being told about the emotional changes, either, but when I called they said it was normal and should level out.
  8. I have donated 6 40 gallon trashbags of clothes to the women's shelter in my area. I have several more bags to go. I don't even think they want anymore clothes! lol! I do kinda wish I had one pair of my Size 24 pants so I can stand in one leg of them for a photo op.
  9. I had a 6 hour long plastic surgery procedure in 2009 and a 3 hour long plastic surgery procedure in 2017 and did not lose hair from either one.

    candy barrrrsss *super trooper voice*

They are really tasty! lol. Just made me sick, personally. You'll probably love them. There's other proteins.... like pea (blarrrfff) and soy. RedCon1 makes MRELite shakes, which are made of salmon, beef, and turkey. Somehow. Just not nearly as many products available.

That's the weirdest thing. I eat yogurt and cottage cheese daily totally fine. I can have nonfat milk fine. But any whey protein shakes or whey protein snacks cause those dumping symptoms. I don't know if there's something in actual milk products that is soothing and prevents it and when the whey itself is isolated out/concentrated it hurts me but it's been like that since surgery, which is why I could only use soy shakes. No clue. I always get soooooo sweaty and flushed and usually vomit.
  12. I was told no citrus fruits because of the fibrous membranes and how they don't digest well and can cause blockages? I dunno. I've eaten a few very small pieces of mandarin oranges that came in a salad.
  13. So, my coworker's brother had gastric bypass a few days after I did. Same office, different surgeon. This was 10 months ago almost. He is STILL not eating solid foods. He tried eating a few things, but he got sick, so now he has a food aversion and only eats jello and yogurt. On top of that, he has become an alcoholic. He had blood in his stool and a local doctor thought it was his colon, but then he woke up one night covered in blood. He went to the local hospital (not the one where our surgeon's are), and lost 3 pints of blood due to a bleeding ulcer in his pouch. He drinks a bottle of whiskey a day and also drinks beer. He looks GREY. He has lost nearly 300lbs in the last 10 months alone. He has not told our bariatric clinic about any of this. They don't know about the ulcer, or his drinking, or that he still isn't eating solid food. He is literally going to die. His family hasn't contacted the bariatric clinic either. I don't know this guy - only what my coworker has shared. She says that every day he tells her he regrets what he has done, but is ashamed to contact the bariatric surgeon because they are going to tell him to stop drinking and he doesn't want to. His family has been unable to get him to see anyone about the drinking. Should I make a call to my bariatric office and just be like "hey, I know you can't confirm or deny that this guy is a patient but so and so had surgery on this date with this doctor and this has happened... maybe just make a call to him as a casual "checkup"" in hopes that that will trigger him opening up to get help?

Whoopsies. Hey... it was a BariatricPal item though! lol. I just know that nearly every friggin' protein snack that says has whey in it makes me sick but I was *hoping* this one wouldn't. It was delicious though. So if you can tolerate whey... highly recommend. LOL.

    Is this NORMAL

I definitely had multiple food funerals during my two-week pre-op "diet" period. I don't regret it whatsoever. I got in all those last "flavors" of foods I mentally committed myself to not having again. I feel like I've been very successful thus far (granted, it hasn't been a full year yet), and I haven't cheated once or really had very many cravings.

Nice! I'll check them out. I got the flavor of delicious chocolate and don't want to have to sacrifice it! lol. Those bars were such a tease. I threw them at my coworker to take away from me but crawled out of the bathroom later and was like "... kinda... worth... it...." *melt*
  18. No, no compression stockings. Just encouraged to walk around. No blood thinners needed, either, thankfully. Just a ton of heparin shots in the hospital. The shots left permanent discoloration... which may be removed during my upcoming TT. It's a big brown spot. =/

    should i intervene?

When I said the family doesn't care, I meant like... I was told that they aren't bothering seeking help for him or telling his doc because "he does it to himself so he will just die". That's just what she said. I'm sure they CARE to a degree, but not enough to do anything else for him. I've certainly gotten to that point with someone I know who has an addiction. I get it.

    im not going POO!

I didn't go for fourteen+ days once. Went to the hospital and there was no blockage. Absurdity. I still take Colace twice daily, MagCitrate PILL once daily, and Milk of Mag once weekly.

    my personal little official thread

*shrug* If he says there's an added risk, I'm okay doing it separately, especially if he can just snip snip in-office. When I had my lift/reduction, the side boob was not part of it because it isn't breast tissue - it would have been an "extra" procedure. I'm already going to be a zombie with my arms in compression garments and my abs in a binder. lol.

    Challenging yoga dvds

Can anyone recommend challenging yoga DVDs? Like good vinyasa flows or power yoga? I bought one a while back but it is waaayyy too easy and just simple stretching. I'm looking to sweat and work. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Reposting because I should have marked out my personal info. Even though it's probably already been stolen by now. LOL.

    my personal little official thread

The surgeon said he can't remove the skin from my "side boob" because a lot of important vessels run through there that serve the abdominal area so once the TT is healed, he is going to numb the skin in office and cut it off in office. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. lol.
  25. You could be putting on a lot of muscle mass, so still losing fat but not going down on the scale. You should definitely have some rest days between weights!
