  1. If you can get from a BMI of 70 to a BMI of 20 in 12 months, please share your secrets! 135lbs in 4 months is amazinngggg. And yeah, much slower. I lose 7-10lbs per month as opposed to 20+.

    skinny shamed!

Well the weird thing is that 9 years ago I was 135lbs and she used to say I looked fantastic and then I went in for liposuction and she begged me not to because I looked great already. But now at 145 I am too skinny? Wat.

    skinny shamed!

It's just crap when it comes from a family member, especially one that has never made comments about your appearance before. The irony of this is she was/is 200% against weight loss surgery but is actually consulting with my bariatric surgeon for it as a last resort option to control her diabetes. That's actually what prompted the comment. We were talking about her meeting with my surgeon and then she said I looked too skinny/sick.

    my personal little official thread

Oh no, they put in the wrong CPT code and it came up 12K. The actual facility charge is like 2K once they put in the right code!! That's why I almost had a heart attack when she originally said 12K. I was like UMMMM *nervous laughter*

9 days post-op yogurt and peanut butter???

Also could probably try nonfat cottage cheese. What protein shakes do you have that you don't like? There's so many options. I will forever hawk NowSports Soy Protein Isolate off Amazon. lol. Getting in fluids is more important right now than meeting protein goals.
  6. I really struggle with a happy medium. My trainer says weigh weekly at most. I am obsessive and weigh daily, but then it SUPER bums me out when the scale didn't move that day or went up, even a few ounces. So, I weigh about every 3 days or so. Many people here weigh daily to keep them on track, but if it starts irritating you if you don't see a move or you get upset with normal fluctuations, cut back to every few days.
  7. I gotcha now. Thank you for explaining. I wish the best for you! Like has been said, sounds like you have an awesome team!

okay this is just kind of amusing guys. lmao. i found an old open front shirt from my "larger days" (Size 24!!) [emoji33][emoji33] and I repurposed it into a Size 8 wrap dress for work. lmaoooo. before and after my ingenuity below. PS this is right before bed so... dont mind the no-bra sag. lol Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. So, as far as my primary doc knows, I am on the highest dose, the max times per day, of the ONLY medication they make for orthostatic hypotension unrelated to anemia/kidney issues. (Midodrine). I was feeling really fuzzy and spacey all day and my BP was 102/50 AFTER 2 doses of Midodrine. That's not horribly low but that is after meds that are supposed to jack up your BP. I've had several work ups on my heart and I'm all good there, so it truly is bariatric-related hypotension. Anyone knows of ANY other medicines?? I'm checking my BP all the time because Midodrine can supposedly make your BP dangerously high, but it barely keeps my BP to a point where I can function. I'm worried I am getting acclimated to it and will be SOL. =/ Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. I take some pre-workout supplements now that are appetite suppressants. But I take them more for the energy boost (although they do also help with appetite). One is RedCon1 Double Tap which is a stimulant and one is Redcon1 Silencer (non-stim). I wouldn't take them until you are in a serious workout phase and at least 6 months post-op. And, of course, check with your doc. I like Silencer a lot. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

my trainer left me. i am devastatedddd.

So, my gym ONLY had him as a trainer. He still works - but only in mornings. They are supposedly hiring two more at some point. But, I am having my skin removal surgery in November which will put me out of commission for a minimum of 8 weeks, and they require a 3 month commitment contract so I don't have time between when the new hires get on and my surgery to sign a 3 month contract. So, at this point, I am going to wait until February and by then my trainer SHOULD be back with an evening schedule. I am actually off work this coming Monday and managed to get in a morning appointment with him. I am going to whine a lot about his abandonment. lolol.
  12. My trainer has been my rock the last several months. He is more than my trainer, he is my therapist. He is the best damn therapist I have ever had in my life. He is the ONLY support system I have "in real life" and I talk to him about EVERYTHING. He is so knowledgeable and motivating and inspiring and he means more to me than nearly anything. Not trying to be dramatic - it's just true, lol. Anyways, he told me today he accepted a job in the evenings and can no longer train me. There is no other time whatsoever that mutually works for both of us given our work schedules. I AM CRUSHED. I don't WANT another trainer. Yes, I will be saving A LOT of money, but I am scared to go at this alone. I am having my plastics in November and was looking forward to him helping me pick up where I left off after I am cleared for the gym again. I am going to miss him SO MUCH. I hired a trainer in the first place because I knew I had to pay someone to get my ass to go. It just happens I got the most awesome human being on the face of this planet. Now I love the gym and classes and I have to learn to be my own motivator and get excited for myself when I succeed... something I've never been so good at. I am super crushed. ;( I've gone through the 5 stages of grief in the last four hours and legit sobbed in the bathroom at work and I am probably going to burst into tears when I see him later tonight since this is our last week together. I have worked out a whole new gym schedule to keep me on track, and now I will have money to take more yoga which I love. I am trying to look at the positives and take away all he's taught me. But I am so so sad about this.
  13. So they are leaving the tumor in there? I am confused. Can't it still spread? Could they have called in an emergency surgeon while you were under and removed it?

How to cancel the "big girl" clothing catalogs?

If you find the secret, let me know... because I get Torrid magazines every other day.
  15. Use this time to enjoy some food funerals. Say goodbye with glee to your favorite junk. Probably terrible advice but hey, that's how I roll. lmao.

    Lady bits and weightloss

Well, you already said you're having skin surgery so .... hopefully that will provide the confidence boost. The main reason I am having a tummy tuck is because of the FUPA (fatty upper pubic area). I hate it. You can see it bulge in my pants like I have dude parts. lol. Yeah, the tummy needs work, too, but I can mostly hide that except for the FUPA. I am excited to have that chop-chopped. You are not alone.
  17. I *can* eat a lot more now - but I stick to timed meals (i.e. scheduled times I will eat throughout the day) and I portion everything out that isn't already pre-portioned. I eat straight out of the measuring cup sometimes. Yes, I am occasionally still hungry between those meals, but that routine is key to my long-term success. I try to make everything I eat a high protein item so it staves off any hunger and, again, portion it out before sitting down to eat so I don't overeat.

    Resident Hospital for Plastics

I would be scared to have residents do it, even if they were supervised. Those prices you got are crazyyyy. I thought mine were high! 6K for arm lift, 8k for tummy tuck. And then 5k for facility and anesthesia fees.

    Eating Meat

I get sick from meat, but still eat it sometimes. BUT, my primary source of protein is cottage cheese. 21g per cup, baby.
  20. My bariatric surgeon said that the patches are completely ineffective and to never use them - that the vitamins aren't absorbed properly (at insufficient levels, like this states). Maybe a large warning and link to the study?

    my personal little official thread

OMGGGG. I called the SurgiCenter to get the actual cost (the one on the plastic surgeon's form was an estimate) and she put in the wrong CPT code and originally said the facility charge was TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I almost had a heart attack.

    Foods that make you dump

whey protein, cream-based soup, anything with flour in it, the majority of meat, including ground beef, fish, meatballs, sometimes chicken, sometimes steak. i haven't tried anything on my "no" list or my "you should probably be able to eat this now" list, because my stomach is so sensitive. i get very very hot/flushed and nauseous and a little dizzy and sometimes vomit. melted cheese (like in french onion soup) also gets a "stuck" feeling. i didn't know sleeve patients get dumping? TIL. my friend with sleeve can eat anything without consequence (except rebound weight gain, of course).

I'm too scared and asked my mommy to take off work to go with me. LOL. Even if I can drive, I feel like I will be nauseous just thinking about what just occurred.
