    Need Positive Encouragement

I’m not sure if I read it here or on another site. One lady would drink “double milk.” She would add milk powder to her skim milk to get extra protein. Maybe that would be an option?

The Unjury chocolate splendor mixed in fat free fairlife milk and the Unjury chicken soup are far and away the absolute best protein drinks I have had.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

How is everyone doing? Today is Friday, been on liquids since Monday. Much better now than in the beginning. My stomach is not happy today. I’m out of my favorite protein flavors until delivery on Tuesday. I think a revolt is being staged w my stomach leading the way.
  4. First appt was October 4,2018 surgery is scheduled February 5, 2019. All my requirements were done by thanksgiving. My dr went on vacation in January so it took a little longer to get booked. I have Cigna. They don’t require supervised diet.
  5. Wow!!! I can’t wait to where you are!

When do you start your pre op diet?
  7. I have Unjury and Syntrax Nectar. If I just put them in a container with milk or water and shake, will they mix well? I will be at work and won’t have any whisks or blenders on hand. Is shaking them enough to not have any clumps?

I’m a chocolate lover. The Unjury chocolate splendor is my favorite. They also have plain chocolate but it’s not quite as good. I am currently drinking Unjury chicken soup flavor. It is fabulous! Much better than the broth I had yesterday. I have found that when I start to feel like I’m dragging from low carb/low calories that the Unjury shakes in skim milk pick me right up. The Isopure doesn’t have the same effect. I was getting a headache while I sat w my friends during lunch (they ate, I drank tea). Since drinking this chicken soup it’s gone.

So far a little better today. I threw out my first protein shake. Not entirely surprised as I hate strawberry. I replaced it w a tomato soup from bariatric pal. This isn’t a protein isolate so not really on my plan. But it was good. I have another Isopure drink, grape frost. I hate the after taste on these. I mixed it w Sprite Zero and its much more tolerable. Hopefully I don’t fall apart in the afternoon again.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I started my liquid diet yesterday. Wow. The misery. I started w a chocolate splendor Unjury mixed w skim fairlife milk. It was excellent. Got to work and had 1 cup sf jello. Later started on Isopure alpine punch. I didn’t care for it at all but there are 40 g of protein in the bottle so I tried to drink it. I managed 3/4 bottle over several hours. Had 1 cup broth. Another sf jello. Mixed up a syntrax nectar but had to let it sit for a long time to settle the foam. By the time the foam settled the liquid had separated. I wasn’t interested by then. I also had 2 bottles of water during the day. I felt so awful. This is only about 330 calories. I went home and planned on another Unjury/milk drink but ended up just going to sleep. So day 1 wasn’t a success. I was short on protein. My NUT said it will get easier when my body goes into ketosis in about 3 days. So so miserable
  11. There are February threads on both the sleeve forum and bypass forum. Check them out. Several people have posted their dates.
  12. Thank you! I will have to pick up a couple blender bottles

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I start my liquid pre op tomorrow. Nervous about it. I have 2 brands of variety packs so I can try flavors out. I have Unjury and Syntrax Nectar. The Unjury needs to be mixed in milk (except the chicken flavors) so I have fat free fairlife milk. I also have a few flavors of Isopure (alpine punch, grape, lemonade, & blue raspberry). My program wants 4-5 protein drinks daily (total 80-100g of protein) and 64oz of sugar free liquids. I am bringing 2 servings of jello, 1 serving of broth, and a SF popsicle with me to work (12 hour shift). I plan to drink a 16oz water on my hour long commute both to and from work. I have crystal light for at work also. Seems like I will be drinking all day long. Good thing the bathroom is close to my office.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I’m having RNY on Feb 5th! I have a 2 week liquid pre-op diet where they want me to drink 4-5 protein drinks a day. That makes me nervous. I barely tolerate the ready to drink premier protein. I bought the sample pack of Unjury and syntrax nectar and also Isopure vanilla and genepro unflavored. I’m sure I will find something in there I like. I also have a variety of crystal light, sf jello and sf popsicles, and broth for my fluids. Anyone have suggestions for something else I need? Oh, and I have my post op bariatric advantage multi vitamin, calcium, b12, and iron.
  16. If your insurance won’t cover the home sleep study you still need to call the home study companies. I know one company (Novasom) charges $300 as their cash pay price. Be sure to ask the company if they are in network (if your insurance will cover it). You can also call your insurance and ask what companies are in network then tell you physician.

    Beginning my journey...

Neither my surgeon nor my insurance required weight loss before surgery. I started the process on oct 4 with my first appt w the surgeon. I had finished all requirements by thanksgiving. My surgery is scheduled for feb. More insurances are getting rid of the diet requirements.
  18. I like dressbarn. Great prices and really good sales. Love their slacks.
  19. I’m feb 5! But for bypass, my gerd can get really nasty when it wants to so I don’t want to risk the sleeve procedure.
  20. Finally got a date set. February 5. I had really wanted January but the office drug their feet until all the dates were full. My surgeon was open to either surgery, but my gerd can get really nasty so I didn’t want to risk it getting worse. Bypass for me.

If you could close one fast food chain

I agree Chipotle is overrated. When I was working up north I enjoyed Qdoba but they aren’t in the Houston area. Over the summer I developed a Mexican pizza addiction at Taco Bell. With a side of cheesy fiesta potatoes. So good.
  22. They aren’t going to do a reversal because you changed your mind 1 day after surgery. You have to have serious medical complications for that I believe. And I seriously doubt people who get reversals are anywhere close to what they were pre surgery. Take some deep breaths. Allow yourself time to heal. All these things you are worried about (fatigue and low energy) go away after a short while for the vast majority. Gallstones sometimes happens in rapid weight loss including in people who didn’t have wls. I don’t think kidney stones are a super common thing with this surgery. Yes there are some horror stories on here, but they are very few when compared to the positive experiences. You seem to be hyper focused on the 0.5% of people w bad outcomes. Try to refocus. Read all the stories on here of people who say this was the best decision of their life. Give the surgery a chance. You went this route for a reason. I think you will really be happy when the weights starts to come off. Best of luck!

Bra Extenders & Other Clothing Tricks

I dread what will become of my boobs. When I was skinny I was a 36A. Now as an obese woman I’m a 44DDD. Also watch dressbarn for sales. They have a great plus size line and they have some incredible sales. Their jeans are the only ones I can find to fit me properly. They have a good clearance section also.

    SMH

I haven’t even had my surgery yet and I’m tired of all the stall posts. Would be nice to have a FAQs for new members thread at the top of every forum. Not sure if people would read it but it may help some people. The first FAQ should address that the search feature is your friend. Your question has probably been addressed before and to Please start there.
