You look fantastic. If you don’t mind me asking, I’ve wondered how the recovery is compared to bariatric surgery? Please keep us updated and congratulations.

The best augmentation was much more painful than the gastric bypass. And it definitely takes at least 4 weeks to feel normal.

  2. So, I'm off the IF for now. I have started to see an internist who is guiding my nutrition and dietary guidelines. He wants me to stop the IF for now. He says once I get into the diet he wants I can still do it for its other benefits. For now he has my macros and 50% Protein, 30% fat and 20% carbs. I am very excited about this doctor. He is going to be using a machine to calculate my actual resting metabolic rate so I'll know exactly how many calories to eat!

Please help me understand 1) how anyone with WLS can do OMAD and get their nutritional needs met? I know I could never get more than several hundred (maybe 500 tops) calories in a one hour (one meal - stretched out) period.

    2) How do you do your Vitamins with OMAD?

    3) How do you not feel really uncomfortable with eating OMAD - with fullness and restriction?

I am not trying to be negative in any way, but I just don't understand how it is nutritionally possible.

    1. You don't meet all your nutritional needs that day. I choose to focus on getting lots of Protein when I do eat because I do weight training. However, I only do it twice a week so I make sure I meet all my macros the other days.

    2. I take my Vitamins as usual. They don't have any calories so it doesn't break my fast

    3. I just don't overeat enough to feel uncomfortable, it's meant to be a low calorie day.

    Awesome job!

Okay, so for you what does OMAD look like as far as calories/macros?

I’m thinking about adding OMAD to my repertoire on days off

I try to meet my Macros but its really hard to do in an hour. I mostly just try to get in as much Protein as possible because I do weight training. I usually get about 500 calories in.

  5. Down 10 pounds as of today. It's been just over a month. I did an OMAD Monday then another OMAD yesterday. Today will be 18 hours, then tomorrow through Sunday 16:8. (I like to eat a little more freely on the weekend). I did find out that the little bit of Creamer I was putting in my coffee raised my blood sugar like 15 points. So I tried some sugar free and measured a TBSP, that had no effect on my sugar. Most of the doctors I follow say anything less than 50 calories won't break your fast.

Yes. I lost 30 lbs with a combination of IF TREs and minimal EFs. I did a lot of ADF with 500 cal restriction as well.

IF got me to goal. But I should say, that my TREs are not free for all eating in that eating window. I still only look at getting my Protein and deeply nutritious veg in and a tiny bit of healthy fats...

I also have treat days every week.

    What is TRE

I am one year out, as of 8/27/2018. My weight loss goes like this: Note: you can see where my frustration is..... 10 pounds lost in 6months. I'm depressed.

    8/27/2018 - 311 pounds

    9/27/2018- 277 pounds

    10/22/2018- 263 pounds

    11/20/2018- 250 pounds

    03/04/2018- 224 pounds

    08/27/2019- 214 pounds

I had a similar surgery date and starting weight. First: when have you ever lost 100 pounds?!! That's amazing! Be proud for how far you have come. I was losing and gaining the same 3 pounds for like a month then I started IF and I have lost about 7. However, my doctor told me not to expect to lose much more because I have already beat the expectation of 70% of excess weight lost. I am still trying to reach my goal though. With that said, the surgery is just a tool. We still have to learn how to be healthy! Are you tracking calories and macros? getting enough Protein and Water?

I am 8 months out and eat 700-800 calories a day. I work out 6 times per week, 2 days with a trainer doing weights/HIIT, 3 cycling classes, 1 yoga class.

Do you still lose weight with this program? I'm about the same calorie and exercise and have hit a plateau. I just don't think I can restrict my calories more or work out more.

I would say don't worry about the calories you are doing great, you will see, stay the path!

Wouldn't worry about starvation mode, if you go back and look up IF and that subject area, you will see body really doesn't go into starvation mode until 2-3 days... They say that was kind of a myth to go into it so soon, and you are EATING. In reality starving is getting NOTHING with calories, lol...

Go 2 weeks as you are and see the weight fall off...

I have been doing IF for 5 weeks and weight is falling off, down 15 of the 25 pounds I trying to lose that weight gained back after 3 years post sleeve...

Great thing about IF is that you eat whatever you want and as you said you really won't eat much but all cravens for whatever you want are met, even if you only get a few bites of it...

It sure beat 10 small meals a day and all other diets, which this really isnt!

Loving that I don't snack all day because I'm just drinking coffee and Water and know one knows what I'm doing, lol..

    Just my 2 cents...emoji16.png

What type of fasts are you doing? I don't lose weight doing the 16:8, only if I do 24 hours

Yep, stalled here since forever. Afraid I'm at maintenance but didn't lose enough weight yet/didn't think I was done losing weight.

My doc told me I've lost 70% of my excess body weight, so she doesn't expect me to lose much more. I'm like hell nah, I've still got 40 lbs to go!

Yeah. I know. Everyone stalls. Everyone has this issue. That doesn't make it any less annoying or any less frustrating to see around the same number on the scale, to see the fluctuation up and down. I'm not sure I'm actually on a stall or if this is just fluctuation, but I weigh literally the same I did last Monday today. I was lower yesterday. Of course, last Monday was a minimum on the fluctuation, whereas today is slightly higher than yesterday.

I'm just frustrated because I'm not eating a heck of a lot in general, though last week I was getting about 1000-1100 calories in a day (while hitting my Protein goals of 75+g.)

This is me also. No matter how much I tell myself stalls are normal, seeing the same number after all my workouts and clean eating is so frustrating

What do your meals and eating window look like? Can you post a day or 2 of typical food/schedule? My RD is on board with my IF/EFs but said I really need to have days where I not only fluctuate low on Protein but follow those with days I fluctuate higher in my range. That staying at 50-60 every day is a little on the low side and could cause probs down the road long term.

I've been fasting from 8pm to 12pm. A typical day for me could include a banana and Peanut Butter for lunch, greek yogurt for snack. Something like 3oz pork loin for dinner with 1/3 cup Brussels sprouts. A Protein Drink after work out, some almonds for a snack. If I'm really needing a dessert (usually PMS cravings) I'll have a frozen strawberry pop.

Another day I might have whatever meat and veggie is leftover from dinner for lunch but the rest stays about the same. Other Snacks I may change out are cheese or hummus.

Should I add in a day or 2 of low Protein days? On my non-weight lifting days. Or try a couple of OMADs?
