Kaleka- I had to attend the seminar first... Tricare didnt require it..The surgeons office did.. In fact I couldnt even schedule an appt with her until they got approval from Tricare.. which they were able to days after the seminar because I filled out all their paperwork....
Once you know who the surgeon is... I would call them and ask for any paper work you need to fill out and if they need records... I really stayed on top of it all... so my timing was only 1 month from seminar to banding
-
It sure sounds like the ball is moving right along!! I remember this stage..... So exciting....
You can go the Tricare website for your referral and it will show what doctor it is for... Mine was up on the website within 24 hours... The paper one will come in 7-10 days....
-
My surgeon would not see me until they had approval from my insurance company.... If you have the name of the surgeon they are sending you to... I would call and see when the next seminar is... Most doctors make you attend that... So you can put a check in that block right away....

Congrats Jazzy!! I was banded on 5-21 too!

My stomach stilll looks and feels bloated.... I only have a small amount of pain... but the meds they gave me take care of it easily.....
I feel pretty tired....I didnt sleep well in the hospital or last night here at home... So I hope tonight will be better...
I took off my dressings today, everything looks good. the steri strips will stay for a week she said...
I have been drinking a lot of Water and making my Protein shakes with a serving of powdered milk as well.... So about 23 grams of Protein per shake... I didnt want to have 6-7 shakes a day....
-
A nurse at my surgeons office who has the band herself...suggested getting a disposable camera and take a photo every month and then at the end of a year develope them and put them in order in a book....
-
Hi there....
I have tricare prime... I went to my PCM... he referred me to a surgeon. I went to an info seminar on 4-21....At that seminar I turned in a copy of my ID card and two years of medical records.... The nurse submitted into tricare for approval on Thursday afternoon and I was approved by Friday morning..... I had my surgery 2 days ago.....A month start to finish!
Good luck!!

Pick yourself up and dust yourself off... and get right back it....I started my pre op way before they told me too... So then when I went there and they said high Protein low carb now so I had no problem switching... I only had to do 4 days of just liquids right before surgery....Make sure you have a shake plan with lots of variety or it can get old quick...
-
It sounds like you have done a complete study of your body and you are making a great decision for you.....
Let us know how it goes!
I cant wait to start cooking again...

My ekg tech didnt make me take my bra off.... So he got a look at my black bra LMAO! As soon as he said pull your shirt up... I was like oh crap I have my sexy black bra on LOL!
It took like 2 minutes then the stickies come off and you are done!
My ekg looks like an athletes is what I was told....hahahha! I guess the athlete is hidden in this body somewhere...

Thank you Kate!
You sound like me... I can look at something salty and my body holds on to Water LOL
I have not had any broth or soups.... Just two shakes... I am going to send hubby out for some green tea!! Thank you for the suggestion....
Ohh and btw... SUPER weightloss.. You rock!!
Thank you too Dan... I tend to be a chronic weigher... I must step away from the scale LOL
-
No it isnt TOM.. I am on cycle day 16 of a 28 day cycle.....
It has to be the fluids... I think I got at least 3 bags....AND I drank 70 ounces of between 8pm last night-6am this morning... and still drinking Water now... I will check the scale tomorow.....
I put a call into the Nurse... so she can tell me how long this Water weight will stay on... Or if there is something I need to do...
I hear you with the whole P-ing thing.... I feel like I have to go badly... but it just trickles out LOL! I think the pain meds slow down that muscle......
-
I had lost about 16 pounds during the preop diet... I have done everything according to the docs and nurses....I guess everyone is different....It surely is not for lack of trying or not obeying what the Doc said to do.... I just had surgery yesterday.....
It wouldnt be like me to lose anyways... I tend to gain weight with Water LMAO!!
-
Ok I searched the forum.... called a friend who had the lap band a month before me and she didnt gain weight... So here I am asking away...
Ok liquid Protein shakes sat sun mon and tues.... then nothing after 9pm on tuesday....Surgery on wednesday around noon... Since then I have had ice chips and Water.... I have had 2 shakes since I returned home today (thurs) and I just for the heck of it weighed myself.... AND I am up 10 pounds from Wednesday morning...How does that happen... And how ticked off do you think I am about it Arghhhh!
Anyone else experience this....? And if you did when did that come back off... I am assuming it is Water and swelling....
All comments welcomed!

I am using walgreens brand adult chewable multi Vitamin. It is a take off of the Centrum chewable. It is orange flavored and I am able to tolerate it no problem.
For shakes I am using sugar free Carnation made with double strength milk... and also New Life Style diet shakes they are 100 calories and 15 grams of Protein.
