    Finally 5-21 SURGERY!

5 days post op and I am doing really great! I did the dishes today and cleaned up the rest of the kitchen... I made a cake for my DH to take to St louis... There was a death in our family and he is going. I would have gone as well but our son starts summer school tomorrow so one of us had to stay behind and being that it is his uncle and he is a pallbearer. So I will be on my own for the next few days....... I have only had one dose of tylenol.. and I will have another before bed.... It helps to keep the edge down.... I am able to sleep on my side now for about 1/3 of the night... and other 2/3's I am on my back with my knees elevated and my head elevated as well... makes for a comfy night. I have not felt an ounce of hunger or a craving yet.... I use that word YET...LOL I am sure it will come... I have finally taken off all the Water weight I gained from surgery and can say I am down a pound or two.. but I am not really going to focus on that until my appt on the 5th. I am very happy with my decision...and I waiting for the days to go by so I can get back to my daily working out.... I have been doing that for about a year and a half and so I miss it.... How is everyone else???

Was may 21st your day?? lets share!

May 21st surgery date here!! I am doing pretty good.. I am only on extra strength tylenol for pain. It comes and goes. Sometimes I feel really good and then like an idiot get up do some dishes wash the counters and bam... back to bed for a few....I have the gas burps and they are getting better every day. Currently I am doing about 3 protein shakes a day... made with an extra 1/3 cup of powdered milk to get my protein up to 60 grams a day. I am getting about 70+ ounces of water in and I usually have one cup of broth a day to break up the sweet shakes. I have not lost any weight. When I came home from the surgery I was WAY up in my weight and WAY ticked off to say the least. Of course I sat back and realized that this was my journey and no one elses. I am happy to say that most of the water weight has at this point come off. I am not having any cravings or desires to eat any thing other then what I was told to eat. I am thankful for this. I have read that others are all ready struggling with wanting to eat. I have my first follow up on the 5th of June. I will hope to report weightloss at that time.... I did take off about 15 pounds with my dieting prior to the surgery.....sooo with the water that came back on I am about at square one again... I am hoping to get things rollin' soon!!
  3. Ok I searched the forum.... called a friend who had the lap band a month before me and she didnt gain weight... So here I am asking away... Ok liquid Protein shakes sat sun mon and tues.... then nothing after 9pm on tuesday....Surgery on wednesday around noon... Since then I have had ice chips and Water.... I have had 2 shakes since I returned home today (thurs) and I just for the heck of it weighed myself.... AND I am up 10 pounds from Wednesday morning...How does that happen... And how ticked off do you think I am about it Arghhhh! Anyone else experience this....? And if you did when did that come back off... I am assuming it is water and swelling.... All comments welcomed!

    Vitamins and Shakes

I am feeling really good... I am only taking liquid tylenol extra strength for pain.... I am getting three shakes in a day... I am getting the protein up to 60 + by using the double strength milk. I am also getting in about 70 ounces or more of water. My only pain is coming from gas... BUT the gas x strips have been helping A LOT. I am still carrying some weight from the surgery and feel bloated but it is not painful just frustrating... I want to get on the losing bus pronto!

    Vitamins and Shakes

My surgeons office said to make double strength milk by using 8 oz of skim milk and 1/3 cup of powdered milk.... Then I put this with the carnation instant Breakfast or the Newlifestyle shakes. If you go to diet direct as suggested... the newlifestylediet shakes are called wonder slim on there.... Thanks for the tip Lizzie. I found newlifestyles after I came off Optifast and was looking for a replacement... Now I have a cheaper source... Thanks!!!

I am using walgreens brand adult chewable multi vitamin. It is a take off of the centrum chewable. It is orange flavored and I am able to tolerate it no problem. For shakes I am using Sugar free Carnation made with double strength milk... and also New Life Style diet shakes they are 100 calories and 15 grams of protein.

  13. You are welcome..... Keep me posted on how things go!
  14. Kaleka- I had to attend the seminar first... Tricare didnt require it..The surgeons office did.. In fact I couldnt even schedule an appt with her until they got approval from Tricare.. which they were able to days after the seminar because I filled out all their paperwork.... Once you know who the surgeon is... I would call them and ask for any paper work you need to fill out and if they need records... I really stayed on top of it all... so my timing was only 1 month from seminar to banding
  15. It sure sounds like the ball is moving right along!! I remember this stage..... So exciting.... You can go the Tricare website for your referral and it will show what doctor it is for... Mine was up on the website within 24 hours... The paper one will come in 7-10 days....
  16. My surgeon would not see me until they had approval from my insurance company.... If you have the name of the surgeon they are sending you to... I would call and see when the next seminar is... Most doctors make you attend that... So you can put a check in that block right away....
  17. Congrats Jazzy!! I was banded on 5-21 too!
  18. My stomach stilll looks and feels bloated.... I only have a small amount of pain... but the meds they gave me take care of it easily..... I feel pretty tired....I didnt sleep well in the hospital or last night here at home... So I hope tonight will be better... I took off my dressings today, everything looks good. the steri strips will stay for a week she said... I have been drinking a lot of Water and making my Protein shakes with a serving of powdered milk as well.... So about 23 grams of protein per shake... I didnt want to have 6-7 shakes a day....
  19. A nurse at my surgeons office who has the band herself...suggested getting a disposable camera and take a photo every month and then at the end of a year develope them and put them in order in a book....
  20. Hi there.... I have tricare prime... I went to my PCM... he referred me to a surgeon. I went to an info seminar on 4-21....At that seminar I turned in a copy of my ID card and two years of medical records.... The nurse submitted into tricare for approval on Thursday afternoon and I was approved by Friday morning..... I had my surgery 2 days ago.....A month start to finish! Good luck!!
  21. Thank you all for responding... I mentally knew it was Water weight... I guess I just wanted to make sure I was not alone in this... Seems I can look at an item of food and gain weight...LOL! 2 days post op and I am feeling pretty good...

    1st day on Pre-Op & I already cheated.

Pick yourself up and dust yourself off... and get right back it....I started my pre op way before they told me too... So then when I went there and they said high protein low carb now so I had no problem switching... I only had to do 4 days of just liquids right before surgery....Make sure you have a shake plan with lots of variety or it can get old quick...
