  1. The hardest part for me is the constant running to the bathroom, the arthritis in my left knee makes me not move as fast as I used to and not being able to take the meds I used to because of the RnY that I am going to have, means I have had to switch to a topical treatment for it and it is not working as well. I know, like everything else I have to give it time. I have taken to setting a timer when I start drinking so every 90 minutes whether I have to go or not I am getting up and going to the bathroom. I have started my Short Term Disability from my job because there is no way I can work in a call center and be able to run to the bathroom as often as I need with this diet. Since I work multiple jobs being home lets me work on the CEUs I have to work on for the part time job I have coming up for tax season. I find that keeping busy is the key. Finding something to take my mind off of what I am doing, is the key. A good movie or something to binge watch on Netflix works as well.
  2. I make sure to have lunch around then and that is when I have my second protein shake so that it helps maintain me for the rest of the day. I have my jello snack between that shake and the dinner shake.

    Non Scale Victories

I have had several NSV recently... my favorite is that as of Wednesday I am off of my quick acting insulin and my other shot has been taken down from 35 units to 20 units. My A1C is now 5.4 and I may actually be off of another medication by the time I have my surgery. I have not had as much knee pain which makes it easier to walk around.
  4. Could this be a lack of potassium? The joy of this diet is that we are going to the bathroom much more then normal and it is draining more fluid from our bodies and with the excess fluid comes potassium. Are you still taking all of your vitamins and supplements? With our restrictions it is hard to know what else to tell you to take or use. If you can, perhaps some gatoraid if it is on your liquid diet.
  5. I have not gotten emotional about the surgery hence my user name IATTCOM it stands for “It’s about time taking care of me”
  6. I had been doing that for about two weeks before the liquid fast started
  7. I was having a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, and then a sandwich with as much protein as a shake for dinner at work with two cheese sticks, and a yogurt snack when I got home from work.
  8. My surgeon was recommended by my PCP. I brought the list of doctors to him and told him I needed a recommendation. He looked and said I don’t know him, I don’t know him, oh I trained him, he will take good care of you. When I told my surgeon the story, he asked who my PCP was and after I told him he said oh I do stuff for Terry all the time. No matter how long I keep this PCP he will never be Terry to me. 😀
  9. I had actually been doing a modified liquid diet by really only eating one real meal a day.
  10. I am having mine on the 26th as well and I am having the bypass surgery. I am on the 4th day of the liquid fast. I am doing well I think.

    September bypass buddies??

It took me a long time to get here and not just on this web site. My sister had the Ru N Y when it first came out and had so many problems that they had to redo it 3 times, and both of my parents died when they were only 55 years old. I am 54 now and I want to live to be older then they were. I am scheduled for surgery on the 26th and I have lost 10 pounds on the liquid diet so far. What fun is it My husband worries about eating in front of me every time he eats. I keep telling him not to worry, I am not hungry. My biggest worry right now is the arthritis in my left knee which makes it so much fun to jump up and down every time I have to go to the bathroom so I have set a timer. I go to the bathroom every 90 minutes whether I need to or not. I had to start my FMLA early because I work in a Call Center and I do not have the luxury of being able to go to the bathroom whenever I need. My job has been really supportive and so has my family.
