    I'm here to help...

Good morning. I can change color and font but don't see who is watching the thread. Think there used to be something at the bottom, not sure as I never looked for that. I just watched the new posts. Looks like a nice sunny day for a change. The thing I hate worse about the SLC winter are the inversions. Once we get cold and snow on the ground somehow that makes the cold air get stuck at the bottom of the valley and it can't escape over the mountains all around. So many times it will actually be sunnier and warmer up in the bottoms while all the muck is stuck down here. The air quality gets really bad. I remember our first winter here many years ago it was a record, the sun shone twice from November til March. UGH!!! I just had to drive up the hills just to get some sun. Not doing much today. Arlene, a friend of mine is doing WW and got the new program last week. She said they changed how you calculated points so that something like french fries isn't the same point value as something more nutritious. The point sliders didn't work any more and she had to buy a $5 point calculator (clever marketing LOL). She is still figuring it out and doing the old plan in the mean time. I just wonder with the band if I could even eat enough if I ate healthy w/o sliders etc. to even get all my points. Good luck with it. I've missed some posts with being gone, but I thought you couldn't wait for your fill because you could eat too much??? But today I read that you might cancel it?? LauraK, ju ju back at ya! Apples, enjoy your day with your friend? is it the Mall of America you are going to? Janet, good luck getting back into the 'grind' today. Cheri, thinking of you at those funerals today.

Janet, I believe Canada is different when it comes to customs, after clearing there you can come straight into the US. I don't remember it all so much anymore but was up on all that when I worked at the airport but it's been 6 yrs already. Wow how time flies. Sometimes I miss it but most of the time I don't. People aren't nice when they travel any more. I got tired of getting yelled at for things I had no control over. I try to remember that when at security and am all frustrated by the procedures and the TSA. They are just doing their job, it's not their fault (well except the rude one who didn't screen me properly LOL). But it's so easy to vent and lash out at the frontline employee which I was. We went to dinner tonight. Went to a seafood place and I actually used my restaurant card. I've never had a problem before ordering off the lunch menu for dinner or even a kids portion but tonight the waitress said she'd have to see her manager and the manager came to see me. She said so many people are doing that these days to cut back on costs etc. that they are getting stricter on their policy, I asked if this would help and showed her my card and then she was so gracious and said anything I wanted. So that was nice. She said they'd always accomodate something like that. I had halibut and prawns, yummy!

Janet, my bet is you had to go through security again because of entering the US from another country. Everytime I've flown int'l I've had to redo security at my first stop in the US also when we went to Isreal we had to do it again at the gate here because Isreal has different standards, etc. Phyl, I can read the posts on my phone because right now I have immediate email notifications set up so I get an email with every post here. It's a pain to come home and have so many emails (my phone and hotmail accout don't sync for some reason so I have to delete them here and on my phone) but it lets me stay in touch. LOL I may change this option after the holidays if I stay put more. LOL Apples, sorry about another wake. Tis the stage of life we are entering I suppose. Arlene, think you need to cut back on the oatmeal every day? That's got to have lots of carbs??? Just a thought. How were the decorated homes?? Janet, just saw your pics on Facebook, looks wonderful there. How was the resort?

Good morning chicas and chico! Woke up this morning to rain? What the heck? We've had so much snow already this winter and now it's raining, but at least that's melting the snow! I can see grass. I am having lunch today with someone I used to know when I lived here years ago, she found me on Facebook via a mutual friend. Should be fun to catch up, hope we recognize each other. LOL Airport Security - yes I hate it. But I decided it's not going to stop me from doing what I love and that is travel. I agree with Janet that all it does is harrass the good guys. I really don't believe it does much at all to deter the bad ones as they will always find away. Just as Janet say with gun control. In fact DD is buying DSIL a shotgun for Christmas for our now every other pheasant hunting trips to SD, it took forever to go through the paperwork (she did this the day after Thanksgiving). She made one mistake on the form and used a 4 letter state abbreviates instead of 2 (Colo. vs CO) and it got rejected. She finally got the gun a week later. SHEESH! My biggest complaint about TSA is of course the body pat downs. But even before they started I always looked for the body scan machines due to my knee replacements. It was quicker and easier. But ever since the new pat down procedure started even that's not enough. Every time they still see something and need to feel me up! GRRRR This never happened before so what's the deal? Also, and this one really irks me. They say that the pat downs are if you refuse the body scan. Well give me a chance to refuse! Since our Las Vegas weekend, for a total of 5 times (that being number 1) I have gone to the body scan machine line only to get there and they have the machine shut down because the person running it is on break? WTH? Train more people, you have this mega $$$$ machine and you don't use it because someone is on break? So then I have to go through the detectors and of course alarm and then need the pat down. This happened again in MSP on Friday, I went to 2 different security checkpoints only to find no working scan machines. In Denver on Friday I filed an official complaint. I went through the line after a very long wait (the only had 2 lanes open), and then the gal came and started patting me down. She didn't tell me, she didn't use the back of her hands and she was extremely rude and when I asked what was going on she said they saw something. That's it! Then when I got to the gate to board found out why only 2 lanes were open. They had 7 TSA at the gate to check ID's. I've never seen ID's checked again as you board. It took 2 TSA agents to check the ID's of everyone, 3 more TSA's to watch the 2, and then 2 more out in the concourse to watch them! SHEESH!! My gov't tax dollars in action. Okay so rant over, but I am still going to fly and travel! LOL Toast: OK so after reading Merediths post about having toast it sounded sooooooo good. I haven't had that since preband so decided to try it this morning. And to my surprise I can eat it very slowly. Not sure that's a good thing. LOL Well I am going to go and try and look at some of the pics I've missed by reading the emailed posts on my phone.

Phyl, yes there was a QVC store there. DD bought a ring there, I didn't buy a thing. Wanted some Dr Denese but will wait for a TSV for that. I really really miss my discount. LOL

Apples, Oh I found the Ann Taylor store too! It was smaller than I expected too. I like it too, but it generally seems to be more businessy type clothes but I have some things from there, the quality is better too. I have been so tired since my little trip. I think I am getting old. LOL Two days of getting up at 3am and it takes me forever to recover. Heck, I used to have to be at work at 4am every day. Not sure I could still do it. LOL Sounds like DH will be in and out of town a lot between now and Christmas so I'll have lots of time on my own to rest up. LOL

    I'm here to help...

Good afternoon, I'm back. Actually I got back very late Friday night and yesterday was on the go so much I never got to the computer. The nice thing about getting email notifications for every post is I was able to read my email while away from the computer and sortta keep up here and not have pages to read when I got back. The bad thing is, I can't remember what I read over the past few days to personally respond to everyone. LOL I had a good time the day I was in Denver with DD and Grandma. Grandma was in a much better mood and felt much better and went out shopping and to lunch with us. She was pretty ornery and down when I was there the previous week for Thanksgiving. I think she was depressed over my mom. Mom had just finally informed her that she wasn't going to come for Chrsitmas from Florida. I think (though she won't admit it) that Grandma is very hurt by this. Mom (who is talking about going on a cruise) said she was in too much pain to travel. DD & I then went shopping to that Charming Charlies store I mentioned last week and a movie, Due Date. Friday morning we got up at 3am to catch a 6am flight to MSP and our day of shpping at the Mall of America. We even got to the mall before it opened, amazing when you think about it, that we got up in Denver, drove to airport, flew, took a light rail to the mall and it still wasn't open. LOL WE walked and shopped every level completely. I was disappointed in the Loft store, not so disappointed I didn't find a sweater to purchase but for some reason expected a much larger, nicer store. It wasn't much different than the store here. I also bought a top at Coldwater Creek but that's all I got. DD got some maternity clothes. We couldn't decide if we should hurry and take a 5pm flight home or a 9pm and shop more and get dinner. But when we saw the weather we opted for the 5pm. I am glad we did as they were both late. Then after deicing for so long, my flight took off to SLC but her's to Denver was just a few minutes later than mine and she got held up due to that plane sliding off the runway. Our flights both didn't get home til about 10pm and the later flights it was like 2am. I am so glad that I opted to go when DD asked at the last minute. WE had a wonderful time. Janet, glad you had a good time and are back. You were very missed.

Just a quickie. Arlene, to get emails I went to the top of the page and clicked the box that said stop watching this thread and then clicked it again to start watching the thread. i guess that must've reset something, it then gave me options to choose of how often I wanted emails. Hope it works.

Thanks for the info Apples. DD is planning it all out, but I did go to the mall's website to see if they have lockers. Wasn't sure what to do about my carryon bag since airports don't have lockers anymore since 9/11 but it says the mall does. So hopefully I can stash my bag and maybe coat there. Your teeth look wonderful.

So what is the meaning of a pickle in the Christmas tree? Sounds interesting! Apples, your DH sounds like mine. Won't slow down for nothin'. He has to be really really sick to stop. I'll have to remember the Nyquill trick. LOL Well it's official, I am going to Denver in the morning, then MSP the next. HOpe we don't run into a snow storm or anything. Should be fun. And I just emailed Grandma and told her I'd be in town tomorrow and asked if she'd go to lunch with me. I doubt it but asked anyway and will stop in and say hi, if nothing else.

Well gosh darn it all. The email notifications are working, the first one I got since posting last was the one for Apples post right after mine. So I click on it, does it take me to that post, oh no, it takes me to the last post so I still gotta scroll around for where I left off. GRRR Thanks Kelly and Apples for the validation in that I am doing the right thing by going with DD on Friday. I know we'll have a blast when we get there, it was just the "I don't know if I wanna go through the hassle" but that sounded so much like my mother and all the times she disappointed me. Besides, we can hit all the baby stores too! It'll be fun. I am debating about contacting a cousin that lives in MSP and seeing if she wants to meet us for lunch. I've not seen her in years, and my DD doesn't even know her, or if I should just leave it her and I. I am leaning towards leaving it her and I, this is her trip after all. Sorry to say, but the last thing I want to ever become is my mother. That sounds terrible! But everything to her was a bother and she always took the easy way. LIke cooking, I begged to cook with her growing up so I could learn. But NEVER got to as it was too big of a mess. Now when my little DGD gets here, I don't care what kind of mess we make in the kitchen. LOL Jewel, congrats on the 5 lbs. Go for it with your Dr and the run! You can do it! Phyl, cute golf cart, how does Zoey like it??

I GOT EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS TOO!!! I, too, Kelly, am thrilled with that. Just started from your post. WOOHOO!!! BTW< Kelli, forgot to tell you congrats on the 3lbs!! I missed that somewhere along the way. Well DD just called and she got this wild hair idea about her and I going to Minneapolis for the day on Friday to shop at the Malll of America, so now I gotta check flights. My first thought was nah, I don't want to go through the hassle of flying etc. just for a few hours. Then I realized I sounded like my mother, and how often does she ask to do something like that and with DGD coming soon we won't have many opportunities to do this type of things so I am off to check flights next. She tells me they are wide open but I gotta see for myself. DH says to go and have a good (but not too good) of a time. First thing, there's gotta be a Loft store there doesn't there???

Good evening, I can't sleep for some reason tonight, could it be DH's snoring (he usually doesn't). I couldn't get to this site for most of the afternoon or evening so thought I'd check in. Looks like it must've just been me by all the postings. Cheri, oh my, how awful. I don't know what to say but sorry for your loss. How tragic. One Day, why can't you do the discounted health plan? I'm not sure what that is, but we have a HSA (health savings account) and it's very high deductible but after that it's 100% coverage, and the portion until that deductible is met is discounted via the insurance company. Is that similar to what you are being offered? In the long run I think we are paying less for it. At $1300 a month you are paying, it might be worth looking into??? Though I am sure you may have already. Nothing wrong with retail or grocery work. There's lots of opportunity there. My DS started at Walmart in school and has worked his way up and they've been very good to him and the benefits are wonderful. TX, glad you made it through your fill. Now you know what to expect. Weird about the pillow, though they always had me arch my back so makes sense. Sounds like a small fill, but then again you may have a smaller band, more conservative dr. or may be close to good restriction already. Don't rely on the numbers too much, it's good to know what you got, but don't compare to anyone else. Meredith, so good to have you posting again. There was talk about a cruise in April or May but there hasn't been any lately so not sure if that's still a possiblity or not, it was going to be from New Orleans. Apples, if my sisters wanted a relationship in the future I'd be there. But I am no longer going to beg and be someone I am not to make it happen. They can either love me or leave me. No more trying to please them, etc. Anyone watch Biggest Loser? I can't believe they allowed Elizabeth to get to the final 4. She's been below the yellow line 8 times but I guess she is someone easy to beat. Be funny if some how she gets it together and wins this thing. I hope Ada wins though.

I think we were posting at the same time or I missed your's the first time. Glad all is well. And you look pretty good on the outside too! I do worry about GM and thanks for the kind words. No you are not over stepping the boundries they are pills (I have another word or two to use but will stick with that one LOL). GM doesn't have long left in this world and I am letting a lot of things go that I normally would not to save the peace. But I won't put up with a lot of the crap after. I am at the point where I don't care what kind of relationship I have with them when she is gone. I'd love a close sisterly relationship but that just will never happen that I can see.

Isn't that how it always goes, when you have $$$ to spend you can't find anything? I could not find a thing with my Kohl's bucks so DH got some sweaters, a belt and then we got a knife sharpener. When I am flat broke, I want everything! LOL I am so cold, sitting here wrapped in a blanket, Christmas tunes playing and the heater just got cranked up some more. Looks are deceiving, it looks gorgeous outside, sunny, crisp white snow, blue sky, majestic peaks, but it's frigid! BRRRRRR Those Breakfast bowls do sound good, but I'd probably take the potatoes out, wonder if that would lower the carbs much? I would think so. I might have to look for some, I'd even eat something like that for lunch. TX, anxious to hear how the fill went. I was very nervous for my first one too. Does your dr make you do liquids after? Joyce, sorry about the family drama, I have mine too. Sometimes I wonder if I was adopted. LOL There's days I just want to say, #$%@# it and be done with them, but then am afraid I'd regret that choice. Meredith, I understand so much. I needed a band put on my head too. LOL I did fine until my life was turned upside down with this move and I fell back into old habits. But at least it was 20 lbs and not 100 lbs back on so that's encouraging. I have too many cool clothes to go back now.

Good morning! Sounds like our snowstorm has moved east and north, sorry Apples, but I didn't want it anymore! LOL It's bright and sunny today but cold. They had on the news last night that many of the suburbs around here have used 75% of their snow removal budgets for the winter and it's only November. So guess my road isn't getting plowed. LOL The main streets are okay but my subdivision I need my 4 wheel drive just to get out of. Meredith, I think I'd go with the surgery option then too if they already tried the unfill one. Was it the reflux and throwing up that caused it to slip in the first place or was that what caused the reflux etc? Sortta like what came first the chicken or the egg? I too gained some weight back and even though it's not a lot it still frustrates the heck out of me. TX, good luck on your fill today. Hope it goes smoothly and you find your restriction with few fills. Mine usually never hurt. Arlene, bummer about the pain issues. HOpe today is a better day. Linda, what do you mean what did you do wrong? Girl, you've done nothing wrong! Miss ya around here! I'm so afraid these new awful boards are keeping everyone away and we'll lose touch. Laura, do you think your parents will come for Christmas? I know mine won't leave FL, my Grandma is so hurt that my mom won't go to Denver this year for Christmas. I bet Nelson will be so much fun this year! What's the big gotta have item for kids this year? Apples, hope all is okay and your dr appt was just a check up or something.

    A few more issues

The first day of this new site I was able to go to my settings and reset up email notifications. However, unlike the old site where you just got notified when someone posted and not again until you visited the site, you got an email every time someone posted. However, it only lasted a day and then that stopped working again. I hate having to scroll around when I do come back to the site to find where I left off in the threads I frequent.

Just in from shovelling AGAIN! It snowed a little bit more and if you don't get it off the north facing driveway right way you get ice. I vowed to never have a north facing driveway so what do I have? LOL Laura, I missed where you posted about your dad. Sorry to hear the news wasn't good. Tree looks beautiful. I have a Droid too it is the Droid X I like it a lot, I can't do some of the more techy stuff (like LBT LOL) but I can do email and facebook on it and camera. OH and I have Angry Birds downloaded, LOVE that game. Well I slipped and slided my way on these roads to Kohls to use my Kohls bucks and I can't find anything. Isn't that how it is, when you have free money you can't find anything? DH says we'll go back tonight and he could use some work clothes, but he's so hard to fit and usually needs talls which they don't carry. If nothing else there was a cheap cashmere sweater there for $50 and then I'll spend the other $30 on kitchen gadgets.

I'm home!! Took me a while to catch up. I am so frustrated with this new site. I couldn't read it from my phone like I could the old one, probably something to do with signing in etc. It keeps signing me back out. Also I stopped getting email notifications. I thought I had it figured out and was getting one every time someone posted which was a bit much, but now haven't gotten a single one since Tues night last week when Julie posted. GRRRRR Also my color is different. Wah, Wah, Wah, whine, whine, whine. LOL Had an okay trip to Denver, guess suffice it to say, it's different when you go back vs when you live there. We stayed at my inlaws which was okay but so cold, think they are trying to conserve on the heat or something. I've never been so cold. I just shivered in bed at night for a good half hour, and by shiver I mean more than just a little shiver, I was shaking. Thanksgiving Day I went and visited Grandma and she seemed rather down. I stayed there awhile and left before my sister would be arriving to pick her up. Didn't want to cross paths with her. LOL Then I went to McD's to meet my friend I used to work with for a Diet Coke, not much is open on Thanksgiving day but we got our $1 diet Coke and DH got his free wifi and got some work done. LOL Then it was turkey dinner at the inlaws which went fine. Then BLACK FRIDAY!!!!! Yep for the first time in 4 yrs I was out there. And since I've been such a trooper for 4 yrs and DHs pheasant hunting in S Dakota for 4 yrs he came with! Gotta love that man! First up Kohls at 6am (nope couldn't do the 3am thing). I got DD a chip and dip bowl there that she wanted for about 75% off and I talked DH into a new vaccuum! I got the Dyson Animal vaccuum. I've gone through so many vaccuums a new one every few years but always get a cheap one. This was $200 off, had my 15% coupon and now have $70 in Kohl's bucks to go back and spend this week. Then it was Breakfast and we met up with DD, DS and his DGF at Bass Pro Shops. DH had promised to go shopping if we made that a stop and DD and DS's GF wanted ideas for DD and DS. Also DH found lots of $9 blue jeans, so he got those and we made him and DS go sit at Starbucks while we got the guy's shopping all done. Then went to see DS's new apartment (very nice) and lunch. Left DS (he worked all night at Walmart for Black Friday) to go to sleep and we hit the mall. We wandered the mall and I was to show DH lots of things at the Loft I liked and was dismissed to the foodcourt to wait. So I know I am getting some of it! LOL It was fun to watch all the people too. The rest of the weekend was disappointing actually. DS didn't see us again. I was hurt by that. I know he is super busy this time of year at Walmart and he works overnights but I felt he could have afforded us an hour after work or something to meet for breakfast or something like that. He just gets in these modes where all he just checks out when he gets super busy and sleep is so important to him. Not sure how long his GF will be around either as she is very frustrated too. And my grandma she cancelled on me too for lunch on Sat. I still went and visited her. She never wants to go out of her apartment anymore and is getting weaker and weaker. It's a catch 22, the less she does the harder it is and soon she won't be able to go out at all. She is 101 after all though. Just hard to see her start to give up. She's been so active. I did go shopping with DD some on Saturday, we discovered a new store called Charming Charlies, guess it originated in TX so maybe Arlene's heard of it. It's a huge accessory type store. All this costume jewelry, scarves, etc. all arranged by color in the store and cheap! I got a few bracelets, a ring and a scarf. Then the drive home. We left extra early as they were predictign snow in Wyoming (we cross the entire state almost on I-80). We had dry roads until almost Utah then they got really bad. But I saw on the road report that I was watching on my phone that about an hour or two after we crossed I-80 had drifting snow on it and had we left when we planned originally we'd have gotten in all that. We got home about 4pm yesterday and it's still snowing here. So that was my weekend. Exercise today is shovelling snow. We have a snow blower but I will shovel the back patio and steps.

I liked the old email notifications better. It just notified you once that there was a reply and you didn't get any more until you went to the thread again. The way it is now, I get an email everytime someone posts. So I was just gone for about 3 hours and came home to about 6 emails. I don't need that many notifications and I shudder to think how many htere will be after being gone all weekend for Thanksgiving. HMMMM might have to play around with that setting some more. If I can find it again that is!

    I'm here to help...

I got an email notification!!! WOOHOO!! There's a button at the top of the page for the thread that said for me, 'stop watching this thread' it was already on this option, however, I clicked it, and then it changed to 'start watching this thread' which I did and then it gave me some options for how I wanted to be notified, I chose immediately by email and I got an email as soon as Julie posted. So I think the posts I was subscribed to already were selected as subscribed to, but somehow it wasn't working to get me email notifications (which I like) so by clicking on it and then reselecting it, I got it to work. Blizzard hasn't started yet, not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing, if it's going to come I want it to come and move on already so we can leave tomorrow and the roads get plowed. But of course I prefer it not to come at all. Grocery stores are packed!!! Of course the usual Thanksgiving holiday grocery shoppers but then add to that the panic to get it done before the blizzard hits, I drove past Walmart and thought nope I don't need a thing.

Okay I think I figured something out! I don't have to do all the above anymore to change my text. I went to my settings, there was a place about posting settings it was below the time one. I checked the box to enable 'rich text editor' it just showed RTE and saved that. Now I can click on my font and color above before I type my post and it types it in the color and whatnot that I choose. I still have to do it each post though. But no more of adding those brackets and highlighting and rehighlighting my text.

"]"]Okay to get my color I hit add reply, then typed my reply in the regular font. Then I highlighted my entire text of my message and then clicked above on the pen looking thing to choose a color and clicked on it. That puts these little bracket things in front and behind your text to tell it what color to be, then I highlighted text AGAIN (just the text not those bracket thingies) and chose a size, then AGAIN I highlighted text and clicked on the B for Bold, and then AGAIN I clicked on Fonts and chose a font Please someone tell me there's an easier way, and also how can I come back to this thread and pick up where I left off. I found the 'show new content' button at the top but that took me to a list of all new posts in all forums. Also when I found this one, it still just took me to the last post and I had to scroll around to find where I left off. I saved this page in my favorites but not it's forever coming back to page 751, GRRRRRR[/b][/font] I am wondering if it only lets you choose so many options as I chose size 5 and it's supposed to be bigger.

This is frustrating me, this old dog doesn't like to learn new tricks. LOL I am not getting email notifications and each time I come here I get taken to the first page of this thread and have to hunt for where I left off, is there a way to come back to the first unread post? If I save this page as favorites will it always just come to this page? GRRRRRR I am so bummed, DS just called and doesn't know if/when he can see us for Thanksgiving. The joys of working in retail (he's a Walmart manager), his 4 days off have been reduced to one and that's tonight, and he works all night and sleeps all day. He normally works 12 hour shifts but they are even longer. BOOHOO!!! :hurt: He said he's hoping to work something out for Friday.
