    Hernia, liver biopsy?

I can't speak about the liver because I don't know about that yet (my surgery is in November) but I do have a sliding hiatal hernia (basically my stomach goes up into my esophagus sometimes) which my surgeon said he will fix while he is in there. If I understood him correctly, that by doing the sleeve it will stop my hernia because he'll be moving my stomach around and then taking some of it away. He made it sound like it was killing two birds with one stone and that there wouldn't be an extra cost however I will be meeting with my surgeon next month so I will have to make sure I understood him correctly. Just to be sure you might want to check with your surgeon's office and ask them to clarify any additional costs that you might be looking at. Good luck

I made it, thank the Lord!

Congrats on a successful surgery! I'll be getting my hiatal hernia repaired so I am glad to hear that yours didn't give you any trouble

    Day one

Congrats! My surgery is not until November but I am already dreading the 2 week pre-op diet. I have heard that the first few days are the hardest but after the first week it can be a little easier. Good luck!

    Anyone scared

I am scheduled for sleeve surgery in November. Now that I've been approved I am a little excited and scared but not too much but I think that's because it still doesn't fell "official" or real to me yet. I meet with my surgeon again in October and by then I am sure I will be terrified!

    November 2018 Sleevers

I'm scheduled for November 6th. I'm excited but it still doesn't fell real. I meet with the surgeon next month and I'm afraid my insurance will change their minds and tell me I can't have the surgery.

    BCBS waiting time

I have BCBS of NJ and it took a little over a week
  11. I'm sorry, that stinks! My whole "approval process" was delayed because my pulmonologist wanted me to do a sleep study which wound up showing that I have sleep apnea which delayed everything for about 6 months. I did all I needed to do with my CPAP and she then finally made a recommendation for me to have the surgery. I was very discouraged during this whole process (it took me over a year) but I had good support from coworkers that have had the gastric sleeve and they just reminded me that the process is a marathon and their advice and support helped me. I just joined these forums last week and have found them to be helpful and supportive as well so if you are ever having a bad day come one here and look at some past posts or ask some questions that can help you prepare for next year. Good luck

    Need support.

Hi, I just got approved by my insurance company for the gastric sleeve last week. Once I heard I was approved and I scheduled my surgery for November, the fear and doubt started creeping in. Even though I have just joined these forums, they have helped me tremendously with questions and concerns that I have/had. Good luck at your next appointment!
  13. Hello and congrats on getting approved! I just got approved myself and will also be getting the gastric sleeve done in November, I think on the 6th. I have only told a few people and don't want everyone to know about my upcoming surgery especially at work. One of my coworkers is the one who first introduced me to the sleeve procedure (she had hers done in 2015) and her mother was not supportive of her surgery at all. However, her mother come around once she saw how her daughter was succeeding with her weight loss and overall health. I hope that this happens for you and that your family becomes supportive but if not just remember why you are doing this in the first place-for you. I just joined this board but everyone seems to be supportive so come here with any concerns or questions that you have. If there isn't one already, we could make a November sleeve group

    Secret sleevers?

I am the same way in fact I just posted on what to say to people at work because though I have a few "confidants" at work I don't want everyone to know. I feel the same way with family members-only my mom, sister, husband and best friend know about my upcoming surgery. I feel that maybe after the surgery and I see some results I may feel differently and may then want to share but I too feel that it's private and I don't want to deal with people's judgements and comments at the present time.

    Hello I'm a newbie here

Just hearing the can pop makes me crave soda and you poured the whole thing down the sink-you are my hero! My surgery is in November so I am not going crazy but still "living it up" while I can.
  16. Hi I just joined today after just getting the approval from my insurance company for gastric sleeve surgery! Woohoo! The approval process took almost a year which seemed to take forever and now that I got approved, time seems to be flying by. I'm feeling excited but now doubt is creeping in as I look forward to my November surgery.

    Hello I'm a newbie here

Hi Christian! I am a newbie as well! Congrats on the big changes that you have already made-soda was the hardest thing for me to give up (though I confess, I still have a little now and then). Good luck with everything
