  4. my goal is for 1st May 09 ( my birthday)to lose 8lbs
  5. lol@bignik To the first thread, i would ask hubby to go with you at ALL the consultations & let him hear it for himself, yes there are risks, but all surgeries carries risks, If he can understand all there is to know about lapbanding then it will be easier for him to give you the right support, Do this surgery for you with all the right reasons, NO one should hold you back, but its nice to see he is concerned too :tt2:
  6. Hi if you have seen your surgeon & been approved through the insurance, they shouldnt go back on their word, as they know you cant keep the weight of on your own thats why you are going for the lapband, I wouldnt worry about it, they often like you to lose as much weight as you can as it makes their job easier to operate on you, my surgeon said to me they have operated on people who more or less reached their goal before having the band but still went ahead & had the procedure because they knew the only way to keep the weight off was t have the band fitted, good luck & im sure you will be fine, just think how much you are shrinking your liver with the weight loss your doing, keep up the good work & welcome :tt2:
  7. My nutritionist told me NOT to drop below 800 calories a day, so 500 is way too little.. Make sure you are eating all the right foods/drinks & exercise, hope the scales move for you again soon
  8. welcome Malia, Im sure the time will fly by for you, once you are baded you will feel so much happier, just listen to what they tell you & do everything right, you cant go far wrong, glad you took the courage to write in here, look forward to reading more posts from you

  11. hey dont let anyone knock you down, you have done awesome, you have lost not gained & you are doing what the band is supose to be doing, the reason the other people are prob like that towards you is because they dont know exactly how the band is supose to work? i too have to wait 3 months after surgery for my first fill, about 5 weeks time my first one will be.. Im sure once you hit your sweet spot the weight will fall off?, but as long as its coming off who cares when people put a time on it.. your doing a great job, keep it up
  12. yes the shoulder pain is from the gas they pump into you, so they can operate on you easier
  13. i too slept on my port side with a soft pillow to support me
  14. sorry you are going through this, i hope they can get you in sooner?, Try & move away from the thoughts of food, hard i know, but you have done so well & look at how much you have lost, try & have good foods in the house & stick some pics of you in the food areas t remind yourself how good you are doing.. try & keep positive
  15. OMG YES i would do it again, just wished i had done it in my 20's instead of my 30's, but still very pleased i did it, i love buying new clothes & standng in front of my bedroom mirror trying the old clothes on watching them fall to the ground with a huge smile on my face
  16. hi mel & welcome, here you will find lots of Q&A in the forums, & meet friends along the way.. have you talked this over with your doctor?.. i love my band, even though im only 7 weeks post op, but my weight is coming off & ive learnt alot about my band,, its the best thing i have had done with NO regrets.. im starting to get my life back...
  17. my port is on my left hand side, just below my scar, i can feel it most days, my scars are in the middle & to the left of my tummy..
  18. hi ben sorry to hear of what you are going through right now, i hope things change for the better, & im sure you will have many friends here to support you..
  19. congrats on your weight loss so far, your doing a great job, well done
  20. mine is 12 weeks after surgery.. all docs are different
  21. everyone is different & you shouldnt go by what others are losing that you should be losing the same, you say you dont go for your first fill til mid april, that gives you time to lose more weight than you have already, I get my first fill April 22nd, over here you wait about 12 weeks after surgery.. thats a long time, so im giving it all i can on my own to lose weight until i get my fills... The weight will cme off you, your still recovering from your surgery for the first 6 weeks.. good luck in your new journey
  22. please dont feel alone, were all here to try & help you & give you support, youre not crazy, your body for some reason sounds like its fighting against you & your band, for reasons i dont know, maybe someone on here has been through the same as you & can give some light on the matter? i truly hope so, you have worked so hard & lost a lot of weight, that in its self is great achievement & at least you are not putting it on, but yes i too would want to too see more rewards for putting in a huge effort, I do hope the scales start moving again very soon for you, try & keep your chin up until someone can give you an answer
  23. I was the opposite of sue, my doctor DID refer me & i too have no other health problems apart from my weight, I guess it depends where you live or what doctor you see.. good luck make that appointment soon
  24. hi, sorry to hear of you not losing, please dnt blame your band, the band doesnt make you lose weight just like that, remember its a tool & its how we use it to what we get in return from it, have you tried upping your calories?, you might not be losing because your not giving your body enough food (fuel) to cope with your fitness regime & its grabbing hold of every single calorie you are putting in your mouth & fighting against you & your band.. have you put your body in starvation mode? Do you have a nutrition at your hospital you can call & tell them whats not happening for you ? have you tried cutting back your exercises a little give your body a break, & dont forget you've prob turned fat into muscles too i hope you get to lose again soon, go back to your doc talk to someone professional
  25. hi tracy, i live in the UK & i had my surgery on the NHS, my waiting time was 5 months, i think it depends on where you live for different waiting times, I also think to get it on the NHS you would need to be referred by a GP to a surgeon/hospital.. unless you want to pay private or have it done abroad, you would really need to speak to a GP to see if you qualify for banding, but its not for everyone, you need to have your eyes open & understand all there is to know about how the band works etc, Do you have a past history with a GP about your weight problem? that will help in your favour, Its best to get your weight problem under control now rather than keep putting it off & develop more health problems.. good luck & welcome to the forum
