He's speaking of the hiatal hernia. It's a condition in which part of the stomach pushes up through the diaphragm muscle. I've watched a ton of the actual surgeries on YouTube and the fix usually consists of a couple stitches. I think all bariatric surgeons are taught to look for this as part of the bariatric surgical procedure.

WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM SURGEONS OFFICE

It's crazy that they didn't suggest a revision when they removed your lap band. In most of the things I've read and watched, that seems to be the case. -

You bet.. It's considered water so it will count towards your water intake as well. Good luck! -
Getting in your Protein w/o artificial sweetener?
Ed_NW replied to Leia's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
These are sweetened with stevia and berries and they might go down easier than shakes. https://www.biprousa.com/shop/w30-case-12-bottles?ads_cmpid=406311130&ads_adid=25532795170&ads_matchtype=&ads_network=g&ads_creative=84937584490&utm_term=&ads_targetid=pla-63528819233&utm_campaign=&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&ttv=2&gclid=CjwKCAjwio3dBRAqEiwAHWsNVdG5DOE1BL8xkGLGpGx7iHspoZNHVeBwcy4NFitVgpAhdld9TF4nOxoCYwEQAvD_BwE -
That made me laugh out loud. Good luck with your surgery.

Watch this guy's videos. He used one of the doctors advertised on this site over on the right side of the screen (BARIATRICPAL mx). I watched his entire experience and it seemed to be a good choice for him. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTg8S1zN2aNMzur6lGDj96w

Thinning Skin, rashes, acne and low energy
Ed_NW replied to trinkat's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Keep researching. With all of the differing opinions out there, even with a team you end up going with whatever seems the most logical to you. Most of the problems you described seem to be from the malabsorption factor that I keep reading about. Hopefully they will find a solution for you at the surgeons office on Friday. Good luck -

Call it karma or whatever you want but this world would be a lot better place if people treated each other the way they want or expect to be treated. Good topic

Congratulations on getting a surgery date! I hope everything goes well for you. It's all about you and your health. A lot of people are judgmental until they start seeing your progress. Then they're either jealous or they jump on board and cheer you on. Good luck.

Taking tablet medications with MGB
Ed_NW replied to ummyasmin's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
You might have to get a liquid form of the tablet depending on what it is. The half life of some tablets can be affected by crushing or even splitting them. I also think it might cause an ulcer. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if it will be OK to crush it. You wont be able to take pills whole right after surgery according to what I've read. Good luck. -

Roux-en-y gastric bypass and PROBLEM with the silicone ring
Ed_NW replied to Michele611's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just reading about the silicone ring Roux-en-y gastric bypass. It's been around for awhile and I've never heard of it until now. I think you are better off without the ring in your body. I know there was a lot of problems with the lap band and this ring sounds a lot the same. -
I'm still pre-op and that pizza sounds pretty good right now.LOL.. I'm still in the process of doing a lot of reading and trying to figure out which surgery is best for me. You're way ahead of me. Ed

I didn't mean to come across as offensive. I just thought it was a fake post because it said you ate pizza but are in the mushy stage of food and were told to eat 2oz but chose to eat 8.7oz. The reason I thought it was a troll post was because your profile is pretty much void of any stats etc. Sorry, I was confused. Good luck with your journey.

This is a fake post right? Is this what you call a troll? LOL!

Nausea/vomiting/heartburn after sleeve
Ed_NW replied to TX4everLinds's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Seems like most people buy the over the counter Prevacid or Prilosec right after the VSG. Your symptoms seem to be pretty common (according to my obsessive research lol) so the only question will be whether this becomes permanent or is just temporary during the healing process. Hopefully it's just temporary until the swelling goes down. Good luck. -
