Start binge watching YouTube videos on WLS. You will have so much knowledge of this stuff after a week, you could start giving seminars. Research and knowledge puts a mind at ease. It's the fear of the unknown that gets us.

The answer to that better be hell to the yes because I got a ghost pepper plant in my back yard that refuses to be ignored!

You should wait until after you lose the weight. This is considered the relation destroyer of surgeries for a reason. Chances are, if you form a relationship with someone now, it will be based on your current physical appearance. A lot of dudes like plus sized women and you will no longer qualify at 140 lbs. Don't kid yourself into thinking a person will be attracted to you initially, based on your personality and things you share in common (and those too shall change after your weight loss). Think long term to save yourself the drama. Focus on the task at hand. This is for your health first and foremost. Good luck!

I think if I did that, I would go to the store and get some Miralax and drink that then drink tons of Gatorade so I wouldn't be dehydrated before going into surgery. Might put your mind at ease. That's what you do the day before a colonoscopy. chop chop! get to the store! LOL

Chest X-rays shows aspiration in my lungs
Ed_NW replied to Lovingmyselfforever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on if the aspiration has caused an infection or pneumonia or is just post nasal drip, etc.. I think I have slight aspiration caused by CPAP humidification. No signs of pneumonia. Did you breathe in some food or something? Just curious. -
Ya'll... don't eat meat baby food. lmao.

Nice, at least it didn't go to waste. I've always had trouble with certain textures of food like tapioca pudding. It'll be interesting to see what changes PO. -

I just keep hanging on to what everyone says on here regarding tastes changing like, "things that taste good before surgery might make you want to hurl after surgery". LOL -
This is what I was given. I didn't do the lunch part of it. The low calorie entree was a healthy choice frozen entree. It turned out to be about 1200 calories per day. The weight came off pretty fast.

Struggling to get cleared by doctor for sleeve surgery
Ed_NW replied to Charles DeBrueck's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You need to be tracked by a dietitian specializing in diabetes. You probably already know, but low carb high protein diets are considered the diabetic diet. That's also the diet you will be on post surgery pretty much. I have diabetics in my family and it's real easy to just give up. We just lost somebody that took that attitude. I'm sure you have people that will be affected if you die from this. Take it seriously and stick to a diet specific to your condition. If you have to bring your blood sugar up, eat the minimum amount of fruit to bring it up then get back on the low carb/high protein diet given to you by your new dietitian you are going to find. You can do it man!! -
What has greatest amount of protein?
Ed_NW replied to Vccc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whey protein is #1 and the latest one that is catching up to whey is pea protein. If you buy the powder, you can mix it with water and drink it really cold. Just read the product info before buying to make sure you aren't getting a lot of sugars etc... -
Click on your user name and then click on "my surgery" then edit from the options on the left side of the screen.

Thyroid removed due to Hyperthroidism
Ed_NW replied to precious110671's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure it will. With a BMI under 40, you will most likely need a few more comorbidities to qualify. Here's a few you might have: Sleep apnea is usually one they diagnose everyone with. It was the "craze" a few years back (LOL). High blood pressure (something this whole process will cause). Family history of obesity related problems like heart disease, etc... Have your Dr. run some really detailed blood work. Good luck with the approval! -
The graph is setting a pretty ambitious goal for you. I say go for it! (just kidding) haha...

I'm the same way. I was thinking I might have to cut back before surgery. I drink way more than is recommended. I take a gallon jug of water to work and it's gone when I get home. I think we're wateraholics. LOL

I've only had surgery once before and there was no catheter. I just found out that I might wake up with a catheter after this surgery and it's kind of got me worried. I've just heard scary stories in my life about the whole catheter experience. What was your experience and I'm wondering are catheters pretty common with this surgery? I was told, it depends on the surgeon. Probably just fear of the unknown but thanks in advance for your input.
-
Did you drink tons of water leading up to your surgery? I do and think my brain will be telling me after surgery that I still need to drink the same amount of water. I think as long as you aren't peeing all the time and your water consumption is at the recommended level, it might just be that you will have to become accustomed to taking in less water.

One of the things that was asked during my physiological evaluation was, have you ever lost a lot of weight only to gain it back plus some? Of course the answer was yes as is with most people seeking WLS. I think part of what determines weather you are eligible for WLS is if you have ever been part of the yo-yo dieting club. I have a feeling with all things considered before approval, you could probably get down to your goal weight and still get the surgery, especially if you have comorbidities.

The thought of a catheter.. scary!
Ed_NW replied to Ed_NW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen this before in some of the YouTube videos I obsessively watch. I think it's up to the surgeon. One lady on YouTube peed a little in the bed before she could make it to the porcelain target. -

A friend of mine had Aflac and had to schedule his knee surgery one year after his coverage started. He then was able to receive the time out of work compensation.

I agree 100%. My wife doesn't blink an eye when it comes to these things. I stress over going in for a routine exam. I have a commercial drivers license and dread having to renew my DOT physical every 2 years...LOL... Women spend their whole lives being poked and prodded by doctors and the like. My hat's off to you. -
