Hi all, I just had my surgery on Monday. After surgery, I kept drinking too much water because I was walking through the desert thirsty. My brain said keep drinking but my new plumbing said slow down! I think i'm finally getting the hang of sipping out of the one ounce cups. That's a tough lesson to learn.

I think eventually we will be able to drink tons of water again. Fingers crossed.

I fear it's wasted on me

I'm a week after you. You've had some serious setbacks but still moved forward with the surgery. Just keep looking forward and it will fall into place for you. You know what the right thing to do is and you're doing it. Good job! -
Dec 17 Surgery two weeks only liquid
Ed_NW replied to LesbianDad30's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope all that tightness goes away soon for you. I know the sooner we can get moving around the quicker we progress. -
These taste like the packets in Top Ramon and are way better.

Dec 17 Surgery two weeks only liquid
Ed_NW replied to LesbianDad30's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can get around without much problem. I think it's because they didn't have to do the hiatal hernia repair. That causes the tight feeling when getting up. Did you have that? -

I'm doing better as the days progress. I keep forgetting to sip then get the chest pain. I'm selling a simi truck at work and I've been doing some running around getting it prepared but don't feel like I'm overdoing it. How are you doing? -
Was told not to lose weight

I think you should stay at least one night. Hopefully they have a good pre-op liver shrinking diet. -
How do sleevers get RNY?
Ed_NW replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The duodenum is the section of intestine connected to the bottom of the stomach that mixes the digestive juices from the pancreas (insulin) and the gallbladder (bile) and it along with the remaining part of the stomach is reconnected further down stream. -
How do sleevers get RNY?
Ed_NW replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's not much of a revision. The sleeve was first done as a pre surgery for the super obese to loose enough weight to get the RNY safely. Just picture the anatomy of an RNY with part of the stomach already removed. -
Tips for Stopping Caffiene
Ed_NW replied to Kmartin6168's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used sparkling water when I weened off the Diet Cokes. After a few weeks of smart water sparkling I no longer liked Diet Coke. Then after the surgery, no carbonated beverages. Use Excedrin before surgery if you want a slow taper from caffeine but stop those before surgery too. -
A lot of people use the grabber.

Smoking marijuana after rny, can we do it?

We have Cheech and Chong here in the USA so we are familiar with the water pipe AKA Bong. LOL -

They say no smoking but you can probably switch to another method. Just watch the sugar. -
It's normal, I felt the same way. I'm at day 4 post op and water makes me full. The feeling in your gut just keeps changing.

I was told I didn't have to wait to drink until stage 2

Post op two days. So much pain and discomfort.

Hi, It went well. It was a strange experience to say the least. I was totally in control until I met the anesthesiologist . It seemed like after she started talking to me, it was no time and I was waking up in recovery. It took awhile to figure out what was going on. It seemed like a lot of people wanted to start giving me instructions right away. LOL First major surgery for me. I hope everything went well for you. -
Yes it seems to be. It all seems to get better day by day. On day 4 post op, water makes me full. Crazy stuff... LOL

I had surgery on Monday and all of the sudden broth is repulsive to me as well. I like the SF pop cycles on this stage. My clear liquid stage is pretty strict too.

I had my RNY on Monday and they told me to take 3000 mg of Acetaminophen per day and it works great. They gave me some Oxycodone too and that just makes me feel loopy. -
I have my surgery date set for 01/15/19. I'm excited and I can't wait to start a new chapter in my life.

Macros for Baritastic App?
Ed_NW replied to mousecat88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a good app for keeping track of your water and vitamins. You can set your protein to 80+ grams as a goal. If it gets boring down the road like things get for me, just do high protein low carb. -
lightheaded and dizzy feeling
Ed_NW replied to MissMissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Poweraid zero. Most of the time it's related to electrolytes. Low blood pressure would be the other thing. -
That's just some product endorsement going on there. I usually don't suggest going against what your Dr. says but there's no reason why you can't try a different brand that will go down better as long as it does the same thing. Premiere is probably the #1 premixed protein drink purchased by WLS patients in the U.S.
