  1. Bypass is supposed to be the gold standard they say. Statistically you will get the best results with the bypass. That's what I'm going for.

Please give me your meal plan

Hahaha... I like the lay off the booze part. Isn't it legal to buy beer at 15 or 16 in the UK as long as you're having a meal? That's awesome!

    Health expert panel ranks diets

I like how most diets say if you use their method along with lower calorie consumption and exercise, you will loose weight. HAHA!
  6. I think people do use it for nausea when going through chemo and people with HIV use it because the meds make them sick as well.
  7. I had to attend an eight hour class at the Kaiser hospital in Bellevue, WA as a prerequisite to WLS. I don't know if it is just Seattle area or the weight loss community in general, but they were pretty adamant about steering clear of artificial sweeteners. They were really pushing all natural stuff. Of course they had their own line of products to offer too. 😂 < (these newly updated emojis suck)

    Received A Bill Finally

Insurance companies are doing some crazy things in light of the repealing of the individual mandate. Young healthy working class people that don't have employer paid health insurance are taking their chances and not paying the higher premiums. Insurance companies end up with what they consider a sicker pool of clients. In order to recoup some of their losses, (besides raising premiums next year) they will refuse to pay portions of a bill. The healthcare provider will then seek to collect from you the patient. Tell the hospital (or whoever) to resubmit the bill to the insurance. They go back and forth like this all the time. What you don't want to do is just wait and see what happens. At that point they send it to collections.

They're fun. My dude is in a boat fishing on a soccer field. LOL
  11. I'm pre-op for RNYGP as well. Researching something that I'm uncomfortable with puts my mind at ease. The fact that you are on here looking for answers is a step in the right direction. Start binge watching other people's stories on YouTube. You will find that pretty much everybody starts out with the same doubts and concerns. It's a common story. You will have tons of physiological hurtles to overcome within the first year post-op just like you're having pre-op. From what I've noticed, 99% of the time ( not sure of the exact % hehe ), after 1 yr post-op, people are very happy and wonder why they didn't do it sooner.

    Emotional Eating

Your doctor wont think that. Most people that are overweight use food just like an alcoholic uses alcohol. They know that this is as much psychological as it is physical. If an alcoholic falls off the wagon, they just get back on. The same applies to you and your journey. If you don't have a structured diet plan, I can share mine. It's worked pretty well for me being pre-op. You need to track your food. Baritastic is my favorite free app for that. Good luck, you got this!
  15. You should get your blood tested and see if you are lacking vitamins. It sounds like you might be low on potassium. Keep an eye on your blood pressure too. Drink this stuff instead of water when you're working out.
  16. Sounds like you should just wear a belt and when the timing seems right, drop a couple sizes.

  18. Met pre-surgery weight requirement and went to my PCP for the official weigh-in on 9/25/18. That was forwarded to Kaiser and they called me and scheduled an appointment to meet with the surgeon on 12/04/18. We will decide on the type of surgery and what day the operation will take place at that appointment. I will also meet with the dietitian on the same day (not sure what we're going to talk about). I'm hoping to get the surgery in 2018 so I can start 2019 with a new plan of attack.

    Weird feeling when I swallow...

I read a lot about the different WLS procedures out there. It amazes me that there isn't some kind of standardization of preventative measures like the following for instance: "If the staples fired are not aligned appropriately, it can predispose the stomach tube to undergo torsion along its long axis. Such a twist can be avoided by properly aligning the staples and by placing tacking sutures to the omentum and new stomach tube." If you end up going in for an endoscopy to find out what's going on, ask if this simple stitching procedure was done.

    Oh, that's awesome.

    Approved today!?

Congratulations! I'm hoping after my meeting with the surgeon on 12/4 I will be scheduled for surgery before the end of the year. It's best to have everything completed within the same calendar year when dealing with out of pocket expenses like deductibles, etc. I hope everything goes smooth for you.

    No family support

If it's a fast food restaurant, Just get something to drink. If you are at a full service restaurant, just order some soup and nurse that the whole time. People use food during social gatherings all the time, you just have to approach it differently. Your health is always going to be about you and as an adult, nobody can force you to eat something you don't want. Too bad if he gets butt hurt because you don't eat what he wants you to eat. Make sure you aren't using him as an excuse to make poor choices. That's common in marriages. I've done it.

    Percentages of Protein Carbs, Fat

I think you kind of want to look at Keto or low carb type diets pre-op because that seems to be the post-op lifestyle for most people. About 20% carbs and the rest protein and fat should make up the percentage of your daily calories.
