  1. I'm so very sorry. I don't know what I would do if salads made me sick!!! (Probably die of starvation, or gain all my weight back...)
    Can you eat cooked veggies?
Yes, thankfully. I'm so sad because big beautiful salads have always been my go-to meal and favourite. That's what I craved the most after surgery. But about 5 min. Into eating one-saliva, stomach cramps, bam. Throw up. So so sad. I'm ok with lettuce wraps, weirdly. And like baby iceberg salads, but those have no flavour or nutritional value

  2. Its, been a while, but glad to see one of my fave threads still going strong with so much deliciousness. I LOVE looking at pictures of food. Is that weird? LOL.
You guys have stepped up your plating game!
I've basically stuck to eating my go to meal 95% of the time: salads with stuff on top, here's some. I know, I know, kinda boring...but DELICIOUS. I heart salad 4-ever.

The other 5% of the time, I may eat some of what I made for the fam. Here was last night's dinner: Sweet potato and corn chowder w/ crispy bacon topping:

We're glad you're back! And I will have to just love your salads visually since they make me sick

  3. dinner tonight is a mix of Snacks, trying to eat up a gigantic costco tub of hummus.
Carrots, salsa, hummus, string cheese, Turkey pepperoni and tortilla chips.

Breakfast this morning was a gluten-free Breakfast sandwich from a local bakery with ham, bacon, cheddar, garlic herb cream cheese, Tomato, onion and egg. Ate half and saved other for later.

Dessert later: zucchini banana bread with Peanut Butter and chocolate chips. I eat it all over about 45 min.Snapchat-471514992.jpeg Snapchat-120519177.jpeg Snapchat-432135687.jpeg Snapchat-1761562003.jpeg

  4. Thanks for all the suggestions. Having a hard time. My doc has me on the Celebrate MV drinks, but even tho I add tons of Water it still does me in and I rarely am able to finish it all. I keep trying diff times of day, etc. w/o luck.
Have you been. Checked flr.a sterite allergy? It's the binder in most pills. I had the same thing, found out I have an allergy, switched to ones without it

  5. I realize at 2 weeks and 2 days post op It’s waaaay too early, but I am BIG time (head) craving a fresh, delicious green salad. Wondering...will I ever get to eat a plentiful green salad again? Since lettuce is largely Water, I’m hoping to hear Yes, as long as it is eaten slowly. And, if so, then “generally speaking”, about how long post op can a salad be tolerated?[emoji39]Thanks!

Heads up that you may still want salad but your body might not. Before surgery I LOVED salad, and dreamed of the day i could eat it again. Every time I've had it since (18 months out. Big/small, dressing or none etc) I throw up.

I can handle romaine leaves in a lettuce wrap with extra meat and have to break an unwich into 2 meals

  6. Doing ok! Hoping and praying for a quick resolution. Most of my immediate family members are considered essential and still must travel to work (in NYC) Including an ER doc, biochemist, Police Captain, Security officers, public servants, etc.

  7. I'm retired, but I'm having to deal with my husband being home 24/7! He's not considered essential, but his whole office is working from home now. It's been a bit of an adjustment - I"m used to peace and quiet all day! Plus I miss being able to get up and go wherever/whenever I want...
My parents are similar, my mom is working from home and my dad is retired....being at home all day with him is driving her crazy haha

  8. I'm a teacher, I am STRUGGLING. My school is title I so lots of poverty and broken homes, knowing they need connection but overwhelmed with trying to onboard everything about my classroom online ( I teach middle and high school music). I have over 200 kids, so I don't know the best way to reach all of them.

I'm also immunocompromised but have gone for a run (which I hate haha) every day to just get a break

  9. Family,
With uncertain times approaching some major concerns may arise concerning scarcity (for multiple reasons). Are there precautions or measures you are taking with grocery shopping / food preparation / storage? Any tips or tricks you want to share?
    Stay healthy and safe[emoji173]
I have my meals prepped and laid out, stocked up (minimally) on basics.

I don't feel well so I've been forcing calories in and self quarantined as much as possible while rapidly making online lesson plans and trying to deal with the shitshow that is work currently

  10. A lot of people have trouble finding a balance that works for them. Especially when they are tempted constantly, so you're not alone and at least you're aware [emoji173]
    **************************************
I personally had to learn (mostly during losing phase) :
    Not every celebration meant eating
I didn't have to eat celebratory foods because it was a celebration
Protect my journey from negative influences
Eat what I wanted/needed (on plan) vs what's expected
I could handle a single indulgence not a days worth
People in my life can conform to my food standards too vs always conforming to theirs
A stall is a setback but not a failure
    There's no going backwards
    **************************************
    You got this [emoji173]
    [emoji122][emoji122][emoji122]
Especially the conforming to others! This was a hard one to learn after a lot of years forcing myself to just go along with everything.

  11. Time to play catch up. Went to the Cheesecake Factory for Valentine’s Day and ordered the chicken Madeira.
I also am pretty proud because I had one piece of chocolate the whole day and a couple bites of the bear cookie
i think you were right [mention=323408]FluffyChix[/mention] about being in deep ketosis because the day after this meal I woke up soooo hungry! I think it was the mashed potatoes.

  12. Oh, of all things that are glorious in my world it's chicharron (meat AND fat!!). And this pic is of the honest to goodness fresh stuff *drool*
Now I have to go buy some pork belly and make some. The packaged stuff currently in my pantry has officially lost its lustre.
I don't understand...is this just chunks of fried fat? I am not cultured [emoji23]
