Do you guys put some antibacterial ointment on the drain incision? Also, do you take off the bandage before showering and put it a new one after?
Welcome home! What were the complications? How does it feel to be home? They gave me some additional dressings for when I shower - mine are Water proof but they might need changing... not sure about the ointment...

@Bmanns01... so good to know I’m not alone in this... I take my hat off to all the wonderful folk on here who have been successful on their journey! 😊

I don't love that they do, but I know it will better keep me accountable. And if they're not close friends, I don't care what they think anyways! Haha.

You're far braver than me! I've been so hung up on my weight for so long - and, I'm so old as well! lol - that I can't face negative comments from anyone! lol ... I will eventually tell my daughter but not sure anyone else (not even my son)
I feel really vulnerable right now... I know that sounds weird, but at the moment, I'm feeling like a failure and that feels hard to deal with ... I must be on a downer because of the anaesthetic! ha ha!
thank you for your reply!

Hi October Sleevers! ... my surgery was 31/10 (sorry, from UK - we do everything the wrong way round! )... came home yesterday... feeling ok but already realising how much extra time I have on my hands not eating! lol
I've had an Atkins shake today and will be making a broccoli and spinach Soup with Bone Broth. I have a Nutribullet which should turn it into a smooth liquid for this stage of the diet plan. I thought I'd make enough to freeze some so I have some ready meals for the next couple of weeks. Am also going to make a green smoothie - like the one on Dr Vuong's YouTube (I love that guy!). I'll also freeze them in pots for something nutritious and easy to get to.
I've been so hung up on having a BM that I took Milk of Magnesia last night and I'm so relieved that I can tick that bad-boy's box! lol
my wounds are a little tender - I have metal clips which need to be removed next Saturday.
I'm still very much feeling my way around this new world... I'm still nervous that I'll get a complication ... I'm still nervous that it won't work on me...
I don't think I'll have the courage to tell anyone!
I've decided I need therapy to help me from sabotaging this procedure - I start it in a few weeks' time! So scared I'll revert back to my disastrous relationship with food!
This place is such a great community - I've so enjoyed reading everyone's posts and experiences! They have been invaluable...
Good luck to you/us all!

Doesn't have quite the same satisfaction though! 😊

I've been on super low carb diets (less than 30g total a day) and have been very successful. This is not working at all for me so far. I'm sticking to it, for sure, but I don't want to see my surgeon the day before surgery and him not believe I did what they said to do. I guess that's my main concern.

I'm on day 4 of a 7 day pre-op liquid diet - semi-skimmed milk and any tea, coffee etc - using milk from the allowed amount. I'm not losing much - and as mousecat said, I've had much better results on a very restricted low carb diet in the past. But, I'm just trying to keep it going. My op is on Wednesday! Sleeve - revision from Band!...

You’re an inspiration Frustr8... 😊

I’m 63 and had a band fitted 11 years ago that didn’t really work because I had to deal with some cancer that happened at the same time ... then 6 years ago I managed to lose about 75lbs on the Atkins diet. It’s now all back on and I’m hopefully getting sleeved soon... I’m desperate and time is ticking away !

Thanks for your replies Auroragirl & Frustr8...
I’m so scared I’ll just sabotage myself ... if I have a bad day my brain may try and get me to eat rubbish... stress is such a trigger for me!
What are your triggers and how do you deal with them? 🤯Frustr8 reacted to this -
Thank you for your reply! I was hoping that the op reduced all the appetite craving hunger thing... It sounds like it’s a constant struggle! 🙀

Hi Helen
Thank you for your reply! Such similar experiences! Wow!
I’m seeing the Bariatric surgeon on 1st October and am researching like crazy ...
I just don’t want an appetite! Ha ha ... and I don’t want my head to sabotage me...
I’m probably asking for too much... lol
When are you having your surgery and what will be the deciding factor for you?

Hey guys
I’ve been reading all your amazing posts and lurking in the shadows for a few weeks now. I’m doing loads of research - started off by thinking I wanted the mini gastric bypass ...now I’m moving towards the vertical sleeve!
I’m in the UK, London.
Getting my head around the main principle that the surgery is a tool not a total solution...
I’m freaking out about my appetite long term after surgery!
I had a gastric band 11 years ago and almost within 3 months was diagnosed with cervical cancer - so didn’t follow the rules ... after I was given the all clear I went on the Atkins diet and lost 75lbs but as soon as I stopped all the weight and more went back on - that was in 2013.
I had to get the Fluid removed 2 months ago as I had a surgical procedure for my heart... Now I’m 300lbs - an increase of 20lbs because I went crazy when the fluid was removed!
I just want to feel in control of my appetite and not feel like this crazy hungry person any more!
I just want to feel full and disinterested in food...I want to look at food and not crave all the bad stuff ... I don’t want to continually eat until I feel too full to move!! I’ve had enough!
Please help me decide what to do...
Thank you for such an amazing forum!

Well ... the Soup is made - broccoli, spinach and cannelloni Beans in chicken broth and skimmed milk powder and chicken stock cube... have put it through my nutribullet and then watered it down to a very watery consistency... it’s very delicious but but but... I can only eat about 2 tablespoons!! I’m now really full! What am I going to do with the 5 gallons that I’ve made!! It will take me over a year to finish... even though I’m freezing it! I’ll need to buy another freezer! You must all come and visit - there’s plenty for everyone!! lol 😝🤪
