Well I tried IMF and it helped! It broke the stall but now I think my body is used to it smh. I've been fasting everyday for about a month now and have lost 8lbs. My 1 year surgery anniversary is coming up in April and I am still 20lbs or so from losing 100lbs. I am bummed that I will not meet that goal. Did anyone else NOT lose 100lbs in their 1st year?

I didn't. I am currently 15 months out and I'm down 83 pounds. Still working towards it, though. Congrats on your weight loss!

  2. Awww! Hon, I'm sorry for the struggle! I've literally been working on the last 20lbs longer than I worked on the first 60-70lbs. [emoji20] It's a process!
Don't self-sabotage cuz then it just sets you back another week. Move forward through it!
Why not shake things up and start doing IF? We have a huge thread on it here. Come join us!!

I'm gonna check it out. Thank you

  3. Whhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyy will these ast 20 lbs not go away?? I am SO sick and tired of my body being disproportionate. It's like, my entire body is a size 12, but my belly is a 16. My skinny jeans don't fit right cause I have to get them bigger around the belly. I just don't know what else to do. I'm working out 3 days a week on average and eating decent. And of course this feeling makes me wanna eat. It's all so stupid.

  4. And talk more, move the food around on the plate, try to tell the others I am enjoying your company, the statement she is doing this to get better is very good, almost everyone I know is on some sort of diet anyway so we don't stick out as bad as one might think. Yes box it up if necessary, I got a card from my facility that states as a post- bariatric patient I am permitted to choose from childs or senior menu. Well I am a " senior" or at least the calender says so, I think of me more as "late Middle Age," my RnY gave me a longer lifespan. And I intend to" rock it" as long as I have breath in this body.
Yup! I order from the kids menu all the time.

  5. Yea, she lost a good amount of weight, thus far. She regrets doing the surgery. Also, her eating habit has changed. I guess when an individual has been used to an eating lifestyle and then that lifestyle has changed it may be hard to overcome at first. For example, she's worried about eating out with friends and just eating a small amount of food. The friends may look at it as weird, but who cares! I may be wrong, but I believe this could be it or more. I'm just here as a concern brother, I want her to be emotionally and physically healthy. I'm even looking into hiring a trainer to help her in the gym.
Is she seeing a therapist? I will be the first one to tell you that changing my eating habits has been the hardest thing for me. Sometimes, the food doesn't even seem enjoyable. And yes, it's hard to eat out but she can totally do it! I've been telling people that my success with weight loss has been that I am eating a lot less, a lot more. And that is not a lie. She just needs to let her friends know (when they start asking) that she is making a change to better herself. And ask for a box to box up half her food!

This is a HUGE change for those of us who has lived to eat all of our lives. Its a constant struggle. But at this point in time, I don't regret it. I pray your sis sees the process for what it really is!

  6. Hello All,
I'm new to the forum, been lurking :116_eye: around reading various posts. My little sister underwent gastric sleeve Dec 21st and just not coping well post-op. Everything you mentioned, AutumnTheAries, she's going through. My father and I are here for support. She regrets doing the surgery. She's taking it out us, why we didn't try enough to ask her if she was doing the right thing. We keep telling her it will be get better. From reading various posts, seems most have been in this post-op stage. What else can my father and I do other than being there for her? I miss my lil sis :57_cry:
So sorry your sis is going through this. I, fortunately, only had these thoughts for about 48 hours then I was ok. I would say that she will start feeling better once she sees the weight come off, but she should be seeing that by now. Does she ever say why she regrets it??

  7. I don’t understand why people are being told no caffeine ever. What is the reason? My team allows caffeine after 2 months. At that point you should be able to drink plenty of fluids to counter the diuretic effect and the incisions should be healed enough to not have irritation.

My team said best to avoid carbonation because it will cause bloating ( won’t stretch your pouch) and can be uncomfortable. But they said you can pour it in a glass of ice and let it set for a while and let the bubbles dissipate.
From the research Ive done, the reason why caffeine should be limited is because it can cause dehydration. I also read somewhere that it increases appetite, but I have never experienced that.

  8. I walked in a popular 5K in June 2018. I was actually training myself to run it, but it didn't happen that way.

I'd taken a picture with my participation medal, and the picture was posted by the photographer on a website so that people could go and grab theirs if they wanted. Before I was able to get to the website, I got a notification that someone Id met at the race that morning posted the pic and tagged me on FB. When I saw the picture, I broke down in tears. I was angry that the girl posted it because it seemed weird for he to post a picture of ME, but I was disgusted at the way I looked. I tried so hard to find good in that picture and I just couldn't.

That did it. I was 100% tired of being big.

  9. What do you all use? I am sure there are threads on here and i have read a lot of them, but i am also sure we have tried many things (as I have) and stuff works for a few days and then doesnt work. I have even followed my surgeons direction. and it stops working after a few days.

I can no longer go through this weekly ritual as it is becoming very concerning because even with taking stuff, it is an act of congress to still go. The last two weeks i had to do an enema and.. believe it or not.. today it almost didnt work. I thought i was going to break down in tears and then it worked, but i know there is still some there waiting to be released, hopefully by morning. I took a final dose of Ducolax tonight hoping it will do the trick after i cleaned out some this morning. I did buy Miralax today to try next ( starting tomorrow)
I have done Colace, Smooth Move, suppositories (dont work anyore, or fully) , swift Kriss, ducolax, regular coffee, bananas, I am out of options. If Miralax works for a few days and stops.. my surgeon is going to have to prescribe something because going BM 4x a month is not working!

I use Milk of Magnesia to jump start. Then benefiber daily to keep it goin. I also had to lay off of the Protein Shakes for a while. That was a factor in it!

  10. Started working out 2 weeks ago. Surgery was 12/17. Surprised myself when I was able to run (on the treadmill) for 20 mins nonstop. Im now running about 3 miles nonstop in about 45 mins. I tried running outside and did about a mile, surprised myself again lol.

I've focused on cardio to get the pounds down, but just bought resistance bands to help tone. I truly just want to be able to run a 5k on the hilly streets here in Georgia. I am way further along than I imagined. Couldn't run 4 mins straight prior to surgery without having to use my inhaler.

All that being said...3-4 days a week cardio with toning in between is my plan for now.
