for those that have done pre op diet..
On my pre op list, it says "no milk products" - so i know that means no milk, yogurt, cheese....i am on a pure no carb thing too...so...what about eggs? I know they are considered "dairy" (my list does not say "no dairy" just no milk products). My thoughts are having an egg for Breakfast...Ive got a call in to ask this, but havent heard back yet - i start my pre op tomorrow. My thought would be ok because i am allowed 70-80 grams of Protein divided in my 3 meals. Thoughts?

July 7th Bandsters to be???
Hi Ladies! I'm July7th too! I go in at 10, surgery at Noon. My pre op (2 weeks) starts tomorow - 6/23. And my "last lunch" today was tacos, lol. and a diet coke. Love my diet coke. My pre op consists of no carbs really. 70-80 grams of Protein for the 3 meals. Other than that, crystal lite, Water, boullion, s/f Jello or s/f popsicles. Tho i can also have decaf coffee. I'm excited...well, i'm not excited about this pre op diet, but i am excited that its only 2 weeks away before it all changes for us! Looking forward to all of our successes - please feel free to email or do whatever to share your experiences ! We're on our way!

Pre-Op Diet?
Ok i just got my pre op diet instructions. They are: 70-80 grams of Protein daily divided for 3 meals. Other than this, Clear liquids - Water, crystal lite, s/f , s/f Jello, s/fpopsicles, clear broth. No dairy. No caffeine No carbonated bevarages. My question..i wonder about decaf coffee with s/f powdered creamer - i wonder if thats still considered dairy.... and s/f cool whip - can i have that on jello ya think? I had thought since my pre op appt wasnt till 7/5 i was getting out of a 2 week diet, but apparently not. I start this Tuesday. I get stressed wondering what to eat--and i know once we're banded, we wont really be hungry..i do wonder about going cold turkey off caffiene and headaches etc...does the protein ya think eliminate that? And no dairy...hmm...not cheese or yogurt or such.. Well....i hope to keep busy--i know this wont be easy...but...i will hope the 2 weeks fly!

kaisers 6 month weight loss classes???? HELP!!
i hear your disappointment...i dont have kaiser, im in so calif also, and i had to take those nutrition classes too - requirement....it actually turned out to be 7 classes because you had to totally finish 6 months...and i had to pay for my classes! $40 per class. Then after the tests you have to have (upper GI, chest xray, psych exam - i had to have ANOTHER nutrition class so we could prepare for new lifestyle eating. Sorry to say, I dont think you'll be able to get out of them.

Another pre-op question

Another pre-op question
Ok, finally got pre op instructions in the mail, i need to start this tuesday. Question - says 70-80 grams of Protein divided up in 3 meals plus clear liquids--no dairy. No caffiene. Would de caf coffee be allowable? And would like Coffeemate non-dairy, sugar free hazelnut creamer be allowed? It also says s/f Jello. What about non-dairy cool whip type topping? Any help on this would be appreciated. I'm more stressed just trying to figure out what i can have that wont make me feel deprived at the same time...i understand after the lapband - thats cool cuz your basically not hungry, etc...but this two weeks prior - i imagine headaches due to no caffiene, etc. Im excited im close..just want to have everything i can have so i still have choices - ya know???

July Bios?
Hi..I'm Bobbie. I'm 51 going on about 37. I was married for 27 years and have been divorced 3 (my choice). I am the proud mom of two girls, through the miracle of adoption. My Jen is 13, Jillie is 7. I've struggled with weight since i was a child. In high school about 165 (5'7") and took shots/Lindora after h/s and got to about 128 - for about a day and a half. lol. Then up up up with each diet (Nutri system, jennie c, cambridge, ww - you name it i did it). I started looking into this last year when my dr wouldnt let be go the gastric bypass route. This WAS what i was searching for - a less evasive way to change my lifestyle. My first goal is to reach 225, my 2nd goal 199 - and my 3rd goal is 170. I would love to see lower than that, but it just seems unreal to think i could get under 170. So to get to 170 i'd have to lose about 85 lbs. Ya know..i am pretty sure with the lap band, support and all - maybe, just maybe i can get there. That would be awesome. Since my divorce, i feel like i'm on a new road. I need to get off meds and be healthier..for myself..and for my daughters. I'm ready....:bored:

Hair thinning?
I would love feed back on this. Typically with diets that are kind of drastic - you tend to see hair loss - it might be temporary - but have any of you noticed this? Or is there something special we should make sure we have to make sure we have enough nutrients to minimize this? I know in the past when ive dieted, ive seen stands of hair come out..and while that is normal to an extent...i would like to do everything i can to minimize this. Thanks for your insight!

Hair thinning?

Any July Bandsters out there?
Tina...im with you..with emotions..lol....i always weight about what you do....we can all get through this together... Its funny all, I have also been eating like no tomorrow, but honestly when time comes to make this change, i AM ready to do so. And i think the fact that we wont feel "hungry" will help tremendously. Even tho we typically eat just out of habit, even when we're not hungry, whenyour stomach if full and y ou just arent hungry..well, thats key - so we should be very successful! I'm soooo happy to be finally ready to do this...! Can you imagine by the end of the year, holiday time..how amazing we will be looking??? :ihih:
