  1. Amy----did your doctor tell you how much of a fill you'll get? I am scheduled for 8/18 and he told me that i had an 11cc band...and when i asked him what the typical fill was - he told me 5! For some reason that seems like alot for a first fill! We'll see how that all goes....
  2. Congraulations! Great View!
  3. Hi Mary! Well i did have my follow up appt today--it went well. Funny thing is the swelling, per my doctor, is actually above the incision and he showed me where my port was (below the incision) - and i could feel it - when i laid down. He said that my first fill would be on 8/18 and would be about 5 cc's. Doesnt that seem like alot? He did say i probably didnt feel any restriction at all (i dont)...but i would after that. Ya think? lol. He also told me my band holds 11cc's. He said there are 10cc, 11cc and 15 cc bands. All and all it was a good follow up appt....and im not so concerned about the swelling any more
  4. Omg sweetie..how are you feeling now???? I hope your ok!
  5. I had my follow up dr appt today--i'll have my first fill on 8/18 too. I find i am eating more Soup then before..but I'm also walking at night with my daughters....so i think thats helping too...I've lost i think 28 lbs - 10 lbs post op, 18 pre op. That feels good tho....
  6. I know this was brought up on another thread..but my question is for those banded 7/7 or earlier...I've finally felt that my swelling in the incision area has gone down somewhat...except for the largest incision area. For some reason, when i stare straight down - there is a definate "lump" or swelling still there..maybe like i have an orange under my skin...or so it seems. Those that were banded 7/7---how is your swelling? I guess I'm looking to compare myself to someone who had surgery the same time. I actually feel pretty good....and I do go to the doctor for my first post op visit Friday..i was just curious... Oh..and i cant get that stupid glue off my body!
  7. Good luck tomorrow Millie!!! Hope it all goes well for you! Take care and get lots of rest! Hugs to you!
  8. Well, my weight loss has slowed up - oh well! 3 weeks post op...dr appt friday! I can hardly wait for a first fill - but thats still 3 weeks away! Surgery 7/7: 244.7 Last week: 237.5 Today: 236.9 (big whoop - .6 down lol) Total so far: 25.8
  9. Yes! I'm 3 weeks post op and i definately had swelling around the tummy--around the incision areas...it has gone done somewhat now...but it was wierd to lose weight, yet have that area so "poufy"...i guess it is normal tho.
  10. Tracy---i responded to the question on another thread about challenges--you had a big one - mine is this weekend (parents 60th bd).....i'll be bringing my own soup to a dinner cruise! I was banded 7/7 too. I'm down 25 lbs. since pre op so I'm happy there....I wont get a fill until 6 weeks from surgery date...so many doctors are different on fills, food etc. But, its all good - and we're healthier already!
  11. Thought of one more this morning... --have thighs that dont rub together!!!! (is that possible??? lol)
  12. I have my challenge this Saturday---also my parents 60th anniversary. We arranged a party bus/limo and we're going on a 3 hour dinner cruise. The cruise does not serve soup of any type (im startign 3 weeks post op) so i actually have to bring my own soup and bowl! Granted, the charged me the childrens price ($50!) and i'll have them pack up my food for my other daughter who is staying home...but it will be a night of food and drinks..and I'll be there sipping whatever soup i bring!!!
  13. Love this... I'll be glad when i can: ** pass the plus size clothes stores ** stop taking diabetes meds ** Not worry about fitting into a ride at an amuzement park ** Not worry about squeezing in airplane seats ** Not be self conscious about being seen nude! ** Dress in super cute/sexy clothes ** Be able to go dance my A** off and not have people looking for the wrong reasons. ** Have the scale reflect 'ONDERLAND!' Smile
  14. My turn! Surgery 7/7 Surgery Wt: 244.7 Todays Wt: 237. 5
  15. Wow...great advise thank you! Do you just get regular chicken cook it up and make your own chicken salad? I'm such an on the go single mom of 2 that i dont have alot of time for myself....simpler the better. Wow..losing 27 lbs post op was huge! I'm only about 6 lbs down at 1 week, 2 days...but nice to know its "normal" to gain a few back...
  16. Thank you Sharon! You give me hope! I'm anxious for my first fill. I'm confident i can make good choices..i just so want to be successful here! I sure hope i recognize my "sweet spot" when i get there! lol.
  17. Jackie - thank you for this post! This is precisely what i needed to hear..that once i get a fill..and i can eat regular foods..that I'll be able to eat whatever (protein first of course) and be satisfied with small amounts of whatever it is! I have about 3 more weeks until i have any fill...but omg youve lost 40 lbs in such a short amount of time..im encouraged by your success! Thanks!
  18. Ya know, i try to stay off the scale but it just calls to me, lol....Actually im on my 2nd week post op - I'm on full liquids - having 2 protein drinks..supplemented by creamy soup, water, crystal lite an occasional s/f popsicle..just depends...I am staying with what they told me to have...
  19. Very good! Glad you persisted..you definately didnt need a weekend of pain!
  20. well heck..and today i jump on the scale, which has been slowly moving downward for the past 3 weeks...and i'm UP 1.2 lbs. I know that is a minimal amount--but UP??? When i'm still on full liquids and not eating a whole helluva lot? Grr! lol.
  21. CeeCee: Hi there! I hear this. Last night i got into bed and my stomach was growling soooooooo much--yet i would never have gotten up to have anything. My doctor told me full liquids after day 1. Meaning creamy Soups, s/f pudding and my Protein drinks. I'm not sure why you would still need CLEAR liquids after one week...but protein would be key. Hmm are you taking the isopure that looks like a gatorade type drink? Man, i tried one of those and couldnt tolerate the aftertaste...I guess i'm also surprised you had staples....i got superglued, lol..and i'm grateful for no stitches. I'm sorry you are struggliing..but even with me being allowed to have these other things...it hasnt stopped my stomach from rumbling! Hang in there!
  22. My doctors nutritionist told us to take childrens chewable Vitamins (like the flintstones ones) - but to take 2. And to Vicatin (sp?) chewable calcium Vitamin chews. So thats what i take.
  23. My surgery was At Arcadia Methodist Hospital. Wow Donna! You've lost 54 lbs since April? Thats amazing.
  24. I dont know that feeling since i havent had fills yet--but to me it SOUNDS like your restriction is too tight---from what i've read here..sounds like you need an unfill. You dont want to go through the weekend like that--i'd call again tomorrow so that maybe they cAN do something before the weekend.
