Ok..i was majorily bummed last week because my numbers were up (after a weekend away at the beach). I since have had my first fill..and tho i dont know that i feel any restriction, my numbers are much better today! surgery wt: 244.7 last week: 234.6 this week: 229.4 I'm so jazzed to have broken out of the 230's! Finally! Woohoo!

First Fill tomorrow!! 11cc band...

I just had my first fill. I was banded 7/7 with an 11 cc band. The doctor started with 6cc's...had me drink water....it ddidnt go down too smooth..he unfilled to 4.5....drank more water--no problem...he ended up putting another .5 in - so he filled me 5cc's total. I am to do 2 days of liquids..followed by 2 days of mushies. After that they said i can just slowly proceed with making wise choices.... I'm sooo excited to have finally gotten a fill. Although now that i'm back on liquids...they did mention protein drinks..and i guess creamy or clear soups are ok (he didnt say clear liquids..just liquids to mushy...). I'm just looking forward to losing..because i had no fill or no restriction..i was starting to eat larger quantities.---of the right foods still - just too much of 'em. Hopefully this is the beginning of good solid weight loss... -
Hi there...so did you notice changes/restriction with your first fill? I have mine tomorrow...he had told me he generally fills about 5cc in my 11cc band...i just hope i feel some type of restriction..i do feel like i can eat too much right now...Guess I'm anxious to see a slow decline of numbers rather then the see-sawing they're doing right now!

Hi there! How are you doing???? I see you got a bit of a fill? How was it? Do you notice any difference? I'm due to have mine tomorrow..and he said it would be about 5cc! I'm struggling with my weight..i sure hope this helps!

well, hell... surgery wt: 244.7 last week: 232.5 this week: 234.6 Darn vacation..and darn that i'm eating too much i guess. Not of the wrong foods, just to much of the allowed foods I guess. I was at a 31 lb loss...now only 28.1. Sucks!:sad:

My doctor uses the realize band..he said there was a 10, 11 and 15cc band. He used the 11 cc band in me... -

Hmm i have 3 small .... well i guess they're holes...one small incision and the larger incision above where the port is. -
first pb episode last night..very unpleasant...ate chicken that was too dry and either didnt chew enough, ate too fast or ate to big a piece...didnt stay down too long. I dont want to experience that again...so hopefully I'll do better - and you can bet dry meants - NO MORE! LOL.

I have an 11cc band..and on Wed i get my first fill. My doctor says he typically fills about 5cc. I am anxious for this because i feel i can eat more than i should...I truly hope i feel some type of restriction after that fill. I would think i would feel something! I'll let ya'll know!

I confess to purposly staying off the scale and not weighing in..but i will tomorrow. (see other post for my sob story lol).... Will post my results tomorrow..congrats to all of you losers! (said sweetly!).

I didnt weight this morning..purposely... Actually for the past week or so I've been 'playing" around with the same 1 to 2 lbs..down up down up....its like down .8 up .7 down .5 up .6 etc. It was making me crazy. I've been eating a bit more, still on plan, but since i have no restriction..i find my quantity sneaking up. Friday I went to the beach/vacation for a few days...and I found myself eating differently because of being out of my normal routine. I didnt eat junk or sugar ...just things like an omelet...or larger qty foods. I feel "heavy" today....and i just didnt feel like starting my day yucky. Also, had my first bout of PB'ing yesterday - yuck! Dont want to do that again. I have been walking with my girls nightly - so while i'm see-sawing with weight....i do feel that I'm losing "inches". Loss of inches are a good thing..but i'd sure like to see that stupid scale moving! Pre and post op diet got me in "losing" mode - and i want that! Why did i think after the surgery it was all downhill from here??? Looking forward to my first fill wednesday. I have an 11 cc band..and the doctor says he fills about 5cc. I sure hope i feel restriction so i can not be so hungry and not need so much food!

Well, i was unlucky enough to experience this for the first time last night! I am 6 weeks post op and have not had a fill yet (first one scheduled for Wed!)....so I dont really have any restriction....or so i thought. I sat down to have some Soup and a small few pieces of chicken...well...i guess the chicken was too dry, i ate too much and/or I didnt chew properly....I felt it struggling to go down...and omg i could feel it "stuck"....i kept belching..alot....small ones but numerous ones...finally i went to the sink, and thankfully the chicken came up. I was about to panic because man, it was sure not a pleasant feeling when it was stuck! I immediately felt better and then totally understood the "sliming" content. The chicken WAS very dry..you can bet, especially after my fill on wed..i will be very very careful with ANY kind of dry meat! -
Hi there, thanks for the compliment on the picture. Im doing ok...eating more food...no restriction right now...so my weight loss has slowed up considerably....but maybe with my fill on the 18th that will all change. And how are YOU doing????

Question...im going on 4 weeks post op. I have no fill, and therefore no real restriction. Thursday I'm going to a mexican restaurant for lunch. I know i can probably do Beans....is rice out? I was trying to think of what i could have with the beans.... A chili rellano - is that out of the question? Just trying to plan ahead... Any suggestions. This restaurant doesnt have Soup.

Amy----did your doctor tell you how much of a fill you'll get? I am scheduled for 8/18 and he told me that i had an 11cc band...and when i asked him what the typical fill was - he told me 5! For some reason that seems like alot for a first fill! We'll see how that all goes....

I know this was brought up on another thread..but my question is for those banded 7/7 or earlier...I've finally felt that my swelling in the incision area has gone down somewhat...except for the largest incision area. For some reason, when i stare straight down - there is a definate "lump" or swelling still there..maybe like i have an orange under my skin...or so it seems. Those that were banded 7/7---how is your swelling? I guess I'm looking to compare myself to someone who had surgery the same time. I actually feel pretty good....and I do go to the doctor for my first post op visit Friday..i was just curious... Oh..and i cant get that stupid glue off my body!

Hi Mary! Well i did have my follow up appt today--it went well. Funny thing is the swelling, per my doctor, is actually above the incision and he showed me where my port was (below the incision) - and i could feel it - when i laid down. He said that my first fill would be on 8/18 and would be about 5 cc's. Doesnt that seem like alot? He did say i probably didnt feel any restriction at all (i dont)...but i would after that. Ya think? lol. He also told me my band holds 11cc's. He said there are 10cc, 11cc and 15 cc bands. All and all it was a good follow up appt....and im not so concerned about the swelling any more

I had my follow up dr appt today--i'll have my first fill on 8/18 too. I find i am eating more Soup then before..but I'm also walking at night with my daughters....so i think thats helping too...I've lost i think 28 lbs - 10 lbs post op, 18 pre op. That feels good tho....

Hi there ! Omg i looooove scrapbooking! Its my therapy! You should SEE all the stuff i have , lol. I scrap books for my 2 daughters..a book for my ex, and my own. Omg you must be excited about your surgery! You'll be sooo glad you did it. have you started a pre op diet yet??? I dont have any fill in my band yet - my doctor today said he generally does about 5cc at week 6. That seems like alot! Thanks for the note - please let me know how you are doing! Any support i could give - I'd love to! I'm Bobbie..and i live in Los Angeles County.
