Spent some time with my aunt and sister today and they were SO judgmental. Kept saying having this surgery is cheating and that I’ve only lost Water weight (30 lbs of water weight??) and that they only respect people who lose weight the “hard” way. I got so mad I almost walked out. Like this isn’t hard??? Ugh. Rant over.

Hi Georgetown.. I’m working from home today but can’t concentrate. I feel like everyone is yelling at me for feeling sick and it’s just so frustrating. Raining here today but maybe a walk would help :) thanks!!
-
Really down today.. feeling very nauseous and just ready to be done with this :(
-
I took off the band aids and it’s much less itchy! I feel like I need to have the steri strips covered though, just in case? Maybe I can leave them for a day or so at least.
-
I think if it didn’t make you sick within the first hour you’ll be ok.. I can’t imagine how hard it must be being around other people eating all the time. I live alone so don’t have that issue. On 10/10/2018 at 20:45, sleevemebaby7781 said:
I messed up. Took a couple bites of homemade chicken taquitos that I made for my boys... is this going to make me sick?? I already don't feel so great.

Side note: anyone else who was sleeved and has steri strips seriously ITCHY??? I am trying so hard not to scratch but it’s become distracting!! Could it be an allergy or am I just healing?
Thanks all! -
@mommytina I’m on week two and eating puréed if that helps :)
-
You won’t fail!!! I know the feeling but we got this!
-
Omg yes! I’m on puréed this week but basically still on liquids. I’m so ready for real food!!!! Seeing my NUT in a few minutes to discuss some options. I need food!! And it’s not even that I’m hungry physically, it’s all mental. I just want food lolOn 10/10/2018 at 14:58, sleeveme7781 said:
I ahd my surgery on 10/4... does anyone else chew food and spit it out, just to get some taste and chewing going on??? GAWWWDDDD this is so hard! I want to punch anyone who says this is the easy way out right in their judgmental noses!! My poor kids are feeling the wrath of my hanger... I have never salivated over the thought of scrambled eggs before.
The pureed food stage sounds like a dream come true at this point. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

Baked Ricotta with Marinara
This is the one that everyone RAVES about!

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt & pepper to taste
½ cup marinara sauce
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly.

@bigcurt you just fall asleep and wake up later not remembering falling asleep lol don’t worry you’ll do fine!!
Just make sure you walk after once you feel comfortable to help with the gas pain. It’s really not so bad :) -
Good luck!!!! You’ll do great, don’t worry!On 10/07/2018 at 16:08, Crystalmartin82 said:
Tomorrow is my day! Super nervous!! -
I hear you!!! I cannot take the Protein Shakes. I’m sipping everything else I can but I just can’t get them down. My doctor said staying hydrated is more important than Protein at this point so that’s what I’m concentrating on. And the hunger is definitely mental. My sister and aunt had cheese fries and onion rings and hot dogs yesterday next to me and I was just like... I hate you both lolOn 10/07/2018 at 11:43, Vwlover0611 said:
My surgery was Oct 1st 2018. The first day and night were rough. The anaesthesia made me very groggy, yet the nurses were adamant on getting up and walking, when all I wanted to do was sleep. The gas was more painful then the laparoscopic incisions for me. I was in the hospital 3 days total. The hardest part being home has been to not want to eat what everyone else is. It's a mental thing I think. Like I'm not genuinely hungry, but I want to taste that spaghetti or pizza or brownies. Just for the flavor. I've also found it hard to stay hydrated enough. The Protein Shakes are absolutely disgusting to me and I've tried a few different brands and flavors. Any advice on anything from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to changes, but am a little discouraged at the moment. Thanks for taking the time to read/listen.
How are you feeling otherwise? -
I know how you feel.. my first few days post op I was crying a lot and thinking why did I do this, I should have tried harder without surgery. But now I’m feeling so much better (my surgery was Monday 10/1) and the scale makes me smile!!
Just keep hanging in there I promise it gets better!!Yare_2018 reacted to this -
Aapb79gmail.com I’m so sorry you’re having such a hard time. I had diarrhea at the hospital but they said it was normal.. what does your doctor say?

Stairs are tough at first but just take them one at a time and take breaks if you’re going up two sets. I’m on the second floor and have to walk my dog.On 10/06/2018 at 12:59, notmyname said:
For those of you who are home - how are stairs? My doc says I'll be OK in my 3-story townhome, but I'm concerned. Bedroom is on 3rd floor, as is only full bath. Half bath on 2nd floor (as is kitchen and living room). How hard is that going to be? And there's not a lot of room to walk, so if I want to walk, I'll really need to go outside. Thanks!
And any advice on anything I can pre-prep? Planning to buy various Protein drinks, probably cook some veggies down to purees and freeze them so they're ready for at stage. Bought some of those Millie's sipping broth bags and some unflavored Protein powder to use with them. Anything else I can cook/do now to make it easier. I just know after a previous (orthopedic) surgery, I was SO tired for weeks after and had a hard time getting myself motivated to cook. Thanks!

My family is being rough too.. my dad was sleeved in 2011 and has gained about half of it back so keeps monitoring everything I put in my mouth. My aunt and sister think I’m cheating by having surgery and should do it the “real” way. They are both overweight too so I don’t get it. My bf was supportive but he dumped me recently. So that was fun.
I was sleeved 10/1 and am still sooo tired. Anyone else?
