  1. This month is 6 months out now for us 2019 February sleeve Surgery twins!

How are we all doing? Any common problems? Everyone looking and feeling great?

I am down over 90lbs. and would love to lose another 25-30 lbs. - but as expected losing is getting slower.

    Only negative issues for me so far;

    1. I was really tired for a few months after surgery butt that is better now, much more energy than before surgery!

    2. I have woken up several times at night choking on stomach acid. Not eating for a couple hours before bed, and we got a bed that props my head up a bit and that seems to have resolved that for the most part at home, however when I travel for work I tend to eat later, and stay in hotels where the beds are flat is certainly when I have the issue most often.

    3. I do have some loose skin, but its not terrible...

    4. I have thrown up a few times but only if I take my Multivitamin on an empty sleeve...

For the positives - I Look better, I sleep better, I feel better, I( have more energy, and many more!

I hope you guys are all doing great - let us know!

I'm 5 and a half years out also. I take pamiprexole for the GERD which is terrible otherwise. I also can't lie down within a couple hours of consuming anything except Water or I wake up choking on stomach acid. My doctor said this is not normal and offered to sever some nerve but that freaked me out so I just deal with it. I also hate the stomach talking ALL THE TIME. People at work think I'm always hungry and it's beyond embarrassing. Even when it's not growling, it's just gurgling or sounds gross and I am sure people don't know what's happening in there but are too polite to ask. I also have very bad insulin resistance so I regained some weight but intermittent fasting is helping with that. Other than those things, I feel like I did pre-surgery, lol. Sometimes I regret the surgery but most of the time I'm glad I did it. It's definitely a lifestyle change that most people do not understand. Eating healthy and watching myself is fine and easy to do but some of the other little things I mentioned make it frustrating at times. They're not a huge deal though.

I am only 6 months out but I relate to all you said - I take Pantoprazole for GERD (however don't really ever feel like I get heartburn except I will say I have also woken up choking on stomach acid at least 5 times now. And yes the stomach noises (gurgles, and weird sounds) can be obnoxious! All in all I am still losing weight and very happy I made this decision.

I'm 17 months out, and I feel way better than normal. I had clearly forgotten what it felt like to be a healthy weight, and I definitely didn't appreciate it back in my 20's. I seriously feel joyful so much of the time.

I can feel mildly nauseous, if I eat too much too fast, but it passes quickly. I have had a few quite mild dumping-esque incidents, unusual for a sleever, but nearly all liquid sugar related (no more vietnamese coffee for me :( ) I have vomited twice since surgery, both times from Vitamins on an empty stomach. I've always been sensitive to pills, same thing would have happened pre WLS. I have an Iron sleeve, almost nothing bothers it.

I am just 5 months out, but I can relate to almost everything you said. Many mild dumping like incidents (about once a week) a couple that were more severe. I have also vomited only twice and both were from vitamins! Not sure I have the Iron sleeve though. lol.

In regards to feeling "normal", I think I feel very normal already. More energy, sleep better, stopped snoring, no longer pre-diabetic, no longer on BP meds... So better than normal may be a more accurate description.

Has any experienced Hair loss yet? I am going through this phase now. I have pretty thick hair but yesterday it was just coming out in globs in the shower. Are you taking anything to help with this phase??

I don't think I have yet, I didn't have all that much left to start with (being a 40 year old male, its thinning in front and my kids tell me I have a monkeys butt in the back) so REALLY hoping to avoid this. .

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK my fellow February Sleevers!

  5. HI All,

Need a little assist here. Was Sleeved 2/11/19...

In the morning I am normally rushed (get myself ready and kids ready and to school and then off to work all by 7:30am) and don't have time to make a meal... I was taking my Vitamins and meds before I left the house in the morning (Bariatric Choice ONCE DAILY Vitamin, Ursodiol, a bp med, and pantoprazole), however afte rtaking the pills on my way to work I would gag and cough and a couple times had to pull over to vomit... So I thought I had a solution - On my way to work I drink a Premier Protein shake and then take the pills, so I have at least something in my stomach when I take the pills. It went well for a couple weeks and then today I got the same thing soon after taking the pills and had to pull over...

Anyone else have this issue? and is there any good solution?

  6. How are my fellow February sleevers doing? Haven't heard much from you guys in awhile!

I'm 7 weeks out, feeling good, and adapting well to my forever diet.

I lost 22 lbs. on the 2 week pre-op diet, however I have only lost another 32 lbs. in 7 weeks post-op. But combined that's 54lbs. in 9 weeks and I'll take that!

Hello! New here! I got sleeved on 2/11; almost 3 weeks out. Feeling great! I have lost about 22lbs but kind of hit a little stall. Is that normal? I also started walking at the gym about 25 minutes for the last couple of days.

I was sleeved 2/11 also! And I also hit a stall on day 14. Wa slowing 1-2 lbs. per day and then stayed the same the rest of the week. Kinda glad I’m not alone! I bet (hope) we will start losing again soon!!!

    Hello,

Constipation any body? Had my surgery on 02/14/19 and I had only one bowel movement .. any suggestions?

Ohhh yea! I didn't go for 5 days before or after my surgery - so 10 days straight. Was on Senna and Miralax, finally buckled and tried a Ducolax suppository - an hour later I got it done... Been a challenge both ways since then, without the softeners I don't really go and I seem to get diarrhea when I do use them. I guess I just need to find the right balance!

Need to vent, I had VSG on 2/7 with starting weight of 305. I did put on 7 pounds in the hospital and as of today I am down to 303. I do not regret having the surgery at all, but I have been having bowel issues and pain. I went from nothing for 4 days to multiple times today. I could deal with just that but I continue to have pain to the right of my belly button. It is the only real pain I have had since the day of the surgery, but it stinks. Feels like my muscle is going to rip. Wish the pain would go away! Anyone else deal with something similar?

I am 2 weeks out from surgery and only pain I have left is that same incision to the right of my belly button, and only when I sneeze.

I am on for 2/11 and just started pre op diet today due to lower BMI. Going strong! I feel low energy and have a slight Headache. I know I will be starving come 8:00 so I plan on just going to sleep.

I'm not gonna lie, its not easy, but you got this! Mine is 2 weeks all liquid, its a struggle but stepping on the scale each day makes it worth it.
