    how long

Hello, Witht the first fill you wont feel much restriction. You usually dont feel alot until the 3rd or 4th fill depending on the size of your band. Most doctors will only do a fill ever 4-6 wks depending on the patient. I doubt if he will another fill since you just had one. My doctor sets up an appt with me for every 4 wks to weigh in and for fill if needed. good luck on your journey

To Fill or not to Fill ???

Hello, Keep in mind when you eat, if you eat to much you are putting a lot of weight in your pouch and it will cause pain. You have to use portion control. dont eat until you are full. You should only being for about 10 to 15 min at a sitting only. And chew chew chew. then dont drink for 60 min after, then only sip the Water so you dont create like a backwash. By sipping it slowly moves the food through the band. But with the little amount that you have sounds as if you need the chew better and eat less. I just had my 3rd fill and have 7 cc. you should be eating only about 1/2 to 1 cup of food only. aslo if you eat to fast you dont give the food time to settle. if you are eating more and more food at each sitting, you probably need a fill. next visit to the doc ask him how much your portion size should be. Also, the more fills you have the more restriction, usually 3-5 fils will give you the most restriction. good luck

Problem getting post op fluids in

Hello, This best thing you can do is sip Water all day long if you can. I remember I could barely drink at first and had pain, dont gulp or take big mouthfuls of water. The burping is the air you are taking in from drinking, eventually it will go away. I didnt think it would and about the gas pain was murder. Just walk alot and if needed take gas-x. But if you had a hernia the pain will last for a while. I only drank about 20 to 32 oz of water a day. and still only take in that amount. I wish you luck on your journey.

    Food Addictions

I am sure of you ask the doctor....he will let you attend the support group. My doctor offers one..they are free of charge. I dont have a craving for fast food anymore. I did go to a couple after i was banded but there is nothing i can eat cause bread is off limits, so it is like bother. Besides I paid way to much money not stick to the program. I figured if I wasn't going to follow it, there was no sense in having it. Good rule of thumb is, eat protien first, then veggies. no bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes, and count carbs, less than 30 carbs a day, veggie carbs dont count. Good luck on your journey.

I am on my 3rd fill and have great5 restriction. You usually dont have restriction until the 3rd or 4th fill. Until then you are still on your own to lose the weight. Good rule to remember is Protein first, then veggies. no Pasta, no bread, no rice, no potatoes. anything else you eat besides meat, fish, chicken, seafood, pork or turkey and veggies, you have to count the carbs. Stay below 30 carbs a day and you will lose. Good luck on your journey.

    Help - 3rd Fill

Call you doctor. I just had my 4th fill and i can only sip about 1tbls at a time and I have to wait for it to go down. For 2 days after a fill, clear liquids only and sip. Then 2 days of full liquids and then 5 days of mushies. If you are having a real hard time sipping water then you need to call you doctor.

    Pre-Diet Question

No that shouldn't hurt anything. Just make sure about 2 days prior to your operation you go on clear liquids. This will shrink your liver and empty out your stomach. Stock up on sugar free popsicles cause the first 3 days after surgery you will be on clear liquids. The sugar free life savers popsicles are very good. I drank crystal light and SF popsicles, oh and water during my clear liquid stage.
  14. I live in Florida and on the shelf with the regular pain reliever you can get Liquid Tylenol for adults. It works faster then the pills and doesn't taste to bad. At my store it isn't kept behind the counter.

    3 Months Out: Struggling

Eat proteins, chicken, fish, beef, pork, seafood, eggs and cheese. Then if still hungry eat veggies, except carrots. They are very high in carbs. stay away from potatoes, bread, pasta, rice and fruits if you can. If you eat anything besided protein and veggies, like potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, fruits, junk food, count the carbs. If you stay below 30 carbs a day and away from the high in carb foods you will lose weight steadily. I walk about 1/2 a mile every day is all the excercise I do. If you have things like pudding or popsicles eat sugar free. Good luck on your journey

    Unbearable Shoulder Pain!!!

Hello, The shoulder pain will go away. Mine took about 3 wks at least. It was a hernia repair also. Pain meds help some, and sleeping in a sit up position helps as well along with a heating pad on my upper back. You need to drink lots of liquid. I use to drink the liquid then usually burp to help relieve some of the gas. I couldnt drink the protien shakes they made me feel ill. So I would buy campbells canned Soup like beef barley and drink the juice only and throw out the veggies. By day nine i was allowed to go to soft foods. Good luck on your journey.

Is this how its gong to be??? HELP!

Hi, You usually dont fill any restriction with the second fill. you just have to stick to the program. Eat meat, fish, chicken, seafood, cheese, eggs and veggies. Stay away from bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and fruit. All are high in carbs. Always go for sugar free and and if you eat anything besides protein and veggies count the carbs. You are guaranteed to lose if you eat less than 30 carbs a day. veggies dont count toward carbs, except carrots, potatoes and corn. Practice portion control and no snacking and find other things to do to occupy your time. And try not to think about food. The more you stress over what you are going to eat, the more you will make yourself hungry. Good luck on your journey
  21. keep in mind...that most doctors wont do a fill until 4 to 6wks after the operation.

    Post op question

Hello. I had that. My doc said it was because I had a hernia that had to be fixed. It is gas, but the pain was caused of the hernia he fixed. My hernia was right where the band was located. I had that pain for several weeks. It does get better and go away eventually. Good luck on your journey.

    Restriction-less!

Hi, Feeling very little restriction is normal. You won't really feel any restriction until the 3rd, 4th or 5th fill. I depends on how much you doctor saline he puts in. So basically you are still on your own for weight loss. I just had my 3rd fill and I do have restriction now. Good luck on you journey.

    Just banded-Introduction

Follow your doctors plan. Keep in mind you have stitches inside you and you do not want to tear them or your stomach by putting to much weight in your pouch. That is why you are on liquids. You can cause slippage or even damage to your stomach. Good luck on your weight loss.
