  1. I am allowed dressing and usually make my own but I find I'm really interested in salad with cheese and ranch dressing but not so interested in salad with a light vinaigrette. So, I figured out it's not necessarily about the "salad" for me. I make healthier choices when I eat cooked veggies. But salad is a really nice change of pace. I was super-excited when I finally got to eat it!

I was sleeved on 11/29/18. I looked through the food Phase 1, 2 & 3 guide the surgeon's office gave me but it says nothing about when we could start eating salads or raw veggies again. I remember the nutritionist saying all my veggies had to be steamed or cooked till soft, but for how long? I really want a salad with grilled chicken or shrimp.

It's best to check with your team for their timeline but just for a frame of reference, I had my bypass in Aug. Started trying raw veggies in Oct-major fail! Tried again in Nov, some luck with iceberg lettuce salads. Carrots still very bad!! December I have had better luck with raw celery and salad greens although salad tends to be a slider food for me, just a vehicle for dressing, yikes! Carrots, still not great. Now in 2019, I'm turning over a new leaf-screw carrots! Eating Protein with shredded lettuce garnishes is working for now.

  3. I'm really frustrated with my best friend and I'm not sure what I'm gonna do about it so I came here to rant into the abyss.

She said some hurtful things that I'm having a hard time letting go of. Every time we speak she comments about needing to get on track with her diet so that I don't pass her up. It sucks! I didn't realize that my role in our friendship was being the fat one and I guess it's important to her that it stay that way. She is also overweight but has never been morbidly obese. My current weight is probably about where her highest weight has been but she is less right now. Every time we speak she asks me how I'm doing with my weight loss and asks a lot of detailed questions most of which I'm happy to answer as we've been friends for 10 years. Then 2 weeks ago, she sent me a text saying that she doesn't want to talk to me right now because watching me lose weight and looking better is upsetting to her. She said it is triggering her eating disorder of which I was unaware. I responded compassionately even though I was upset and told her it was ok for her to be honest with me about her feelings.

I expected to give her some time and space and see how things go but she texts me almost every day with something sad and horrible about missing her mom or depression or anxiety or her wife or her son's behavior problems and it feels like she's leaning really heavily on me. This might just be a season in our friendship were she needs more support than I do right now. But it's hard for me to hang in there when she says unsupportive things to me and then expects me to just keep responding to 2am texts. Luckily for both of us she lives in another state so she never has to see the look on my face when she makes those comments.

I only told 5 people about my surgery: my mom, my 2 sisters, my husband and my best friend. She lives in another state and we probably only talk about once a month these days. I was counting on her as part of my support system.

She is going through a lot, like all of us. She suffers from depression, struggles with money, has some family issues and lost her mom a year ago. I love her and I worry about her. It makes me sad that I feel like our friendship is not healthy for me.

  4. My proudest moment of 2018 came in December and it was a culmination of all the hard work I've done this year. I believe the clarity of mind from healthy eating, the strong body from exercising, and my improved self esteem from having a smaller body all helped me succeed this year. On the 28th, I stayed up for an all night brain storming session and at the end of it I had an outline for my 1st business plan. I'm starting my own business and I'm going to be a CEO people! But I have to say one of the best parts was excitedly telling my husband about it the following morning and getting 100% support from him about my idea, my plan and the direction I want to take my life. That was a gift and the best accomplishment of 2018.

But I don't have photo evidence of that one, just a scribbled business plan on the back of my grocery list so here's another one! See this huge container of popcorn? I did not eat one single kernel! How's that for willpower!

OK, I'm in! Posting a bit late as I've been traveling. Here's my stats:

I'm 4.5 mo postop bypass and my current weight is 235; down from 321. I'm losing more slowly now and reverting to some bad habits.

I've been doing well with my Water goals and exercise goals. My goals for this challenge are to cut out refined sugars and carbohydrates, stop snacking constantly and get back to defined Keto meals and IF.

    Pic coming soon...

I'm updating this post with my full body photo. At this time I'd also like to update my January goals to include buying a full-length mirror for my house! I've got to stop these selfies in public bathrooms!

  7. I had an umbilical hernia and hiatal hernia repaired at the same time as my bypass. I started losing weight prior to surgery. If someone has the balls to ask me, I attribute the significant post op weight loss to the Keto diet plus intermittent fasting as well as being able to exercise comfortably now that the hernia is gone. All true!

As for an ex, he can suck eggs and marvel at your mysterious progress, xoxo!

Wow! You should be proud. That is an amazing amount of hard work. Besides being drop dead gorgeous, you look really fit. Congrats on your success!

I feel like there’s more of a difference than these two pictures show (besides the outfit and the lighting I don’t see a whole lot different between the two), but I’m getting close to a 60lb difference between these two pics and can really feel it! The first is from one or two days into the two week pre-op diet and the other is from yesterday.

Fishing for compliments and reassurance! 🤗🤗🤗

I see a huge difference! It looks like more than a 60 lb loss to me! But, my mirror plays tricks on me too. Sometimes it's hard to see changes in yourself but we're here to tell you, you look great!

    Great idea!

I'm just so full as I write this because over the last 10 months, I'm down 108.7 lbs. I had a revision from the lap-band to SIPS and I couldn't be more happy. I did have some complications in the beginning which required a month long stay in the hospital, but even with that, I don't have any regrets! My life is on TEN!!!

Even though I have not shared publicly my WLS experience with friends, people seem to be genuinely happy for the new me. I've always socialized, but I'm even more eager to hang out with my friends, go on couples dates, business social settings, etc. because I can easily find something to wear and feel even more confident in myself.

I'm feeling great physically. No more back and knee pain. Off of all meds (blood pressure, cholesterol, symbicort breathing treatment) and off of CPAP machine for sleep apnea. Also, since having the lap-band removed as part of the revision, I no longer have acid reflux. While the vanity is great, the health benefits have me over the moon ecstatic! I'm sooooooooooo happy!

Congratulations on all the good things! I'm only 3 months out and it's unbelievable how much better I feel. I'm so happy to hear about your continued success. Nothing better than being happy and healthy (especially for those of us who were neither one for such a long time)

Whoa, that is amazing! You do look really smart in the before pics but now you look smart AND sexy. Love that dress, it must be so fun to try on clothes! Seriously, you look hot and I hope someone in your life tells you that every day! 😘

  12. Ok, so, I'm having underwear issues. Even though I never liked briefs, now I need to wear them. I'm 3 months post op and need to replace all my undies because they are too loose. I had a large umbilical hernia repair at the same time so I'm really sensitive to the loose skin that is starting to form in my FUPA area. It pulls down from my belly button and is really uncomfortable. Plastics will fix it eventually but for now i need supportive underwear but not Shapewear. Shapewear is too restrictive even when it's a little big and I struggle to eat or drink while wearing it. I wear spandex leggings under my sweats when working out, but again, same issues eating and drinking. People, I cannot remove my panties every time I need food or water!

These panties from Target worked great for me; just high enough, accommodates my belly, not too tight on the legs. But they only come in plus size and the smallest ones (1X) no longer fit! However I found non-plus size panties, even briefs, dont give me enough coverage.

Please, tell me your favorite brands/styles of panties and where to get them. Ideally in a brick and mortar shop so I can try on. Hoping for a good selection!

I had to food cycle for the same reasons. I would go week to week switching main Protein sources. It has worked out well and I can revisit old ones with no/low problems now.

    Go Fish!!!

    You look beautiful.

Find an enchanted mirror that will tell you everything you need to hear. I got one at Walmart. LOL.

Thanks for all your help on here! Took your advice on the l-lysine, keeping my fingers crossed! (actually I've taken quite a bit of your advice...)

  15. Thanks guys! I've been relying on lots of advice here as I'm in a 3 week weight loss stall. But pics don't lie and my body is still changing. Im doing lots of weight training and found out I need waay more Water and waaay more calories to get my weight moving again. Anyway my scale shows im gaining muscle so that is a win.

food is not agreeing with me. Something that goes well one week causes a 2 hour vomiting stomachache episode the next week so I'm trying to stay loose with the plan and focus on softer Protein sources like stew, cottage cheese (ugh), yogurt (ugh) and shakes (blech!)
