Wow amazing! I’m curious as to which surgery you all had. I had sleeve 3 months ago and it seems so slow that I almost wish I would’ve went ahead with bypass. I figure every month that I’m not gaining 5lbs is a victory, that’s what I was doing before

I’m only about 6 weeks out but I’m starting into that pattern as well, seems that my losses all come right after my period

Lord, I lost 9lbs the 1st week(I spent 5 days in the hospital d/t hemorrhage/emergency surgery/blood transfusion), 6lbs the 2nd week. Started at 222lbs on the day of surgery, now still stuck at a 15lbs loss for the past 4 weeks. I keep hoping that my body is just holding onto everything until my blood gets built back up but it is frustrating! I thought I would be much further along now so 58lbs in 2 months sounds phenomenal to me! Keep up the good work and it will come!

So far I have stuck with warm Bone Broth mixed with bullion for better flavor, and the clear liquid fruit flavored powders that I think have less milk. I hate to hear that you are feeling so bad:( I got the sleeve so I’m not sure any of what i said is helpful but I hope this passes soon for you. I had my surgery in Mexico and they gave me medicine that combines something for spasms. If you haven’t been able to speak to your doctor directly I would make a very strong request to however is answering the phone. I hate when the person answering the phone thinks they are a doctor and then they don’t even tell the doctor you called. Be a strong advocate for yourself, if you don’t nobody else likely will. There are electrolyte drinks you can buy at the store(not Gatorade). Even if u have to go back to the ER, don’t let yourself get dehydrated. Bless your family nurse for that IV. I think u just heard some of my “nurse” come out. Well wishes!

I had surgery in Mexico this week but I am also a registered nurse so I made sure that I knew what I was doing and I even brought my own nutrition with me that I got off of BariatricPal for instants the clear Liquid Protein which has been really great to use here and it traveled well. I did not have to go to the six-month waiting. However I did have to pay for all out-of-pocket. I do also have a surgeon back home and a dietitian who were willing to take me as a patient before a reschedule this appointment in Mexico. I would have paid to have the surgery in the US however oddly enough the hospital said they wouldn’t take my credit card so I just went back to the same surgeon who did my lap band 13 years ago(I just had it removed last year because the port was poking me) I will say that there’s no way you’re going to get as much follow up just by communicating via email after surgery and another country. I think it is wise to plan ahead so that you have good follow up. I will leave Mexico on Saturday and I already have blood work set up for Monday and then a follow-up with the surgeon the next week and the nutritionist. But I agree this is a recipe for disaster if people don’t put in the effort to educate themselves but even down here I waited for permission to start my clear liquid Protein and I have a nutritionist who has already explained the plan to me, if not verbally than in writing.

Congrats on being home. I had surgery on Monday Evening, they didn’t get me to OR u til after 9pm😳 then less than 24 hours later I was back in the OR bcuz 1 of my incisions dumped 2 liters of blood into my abdomen and they had to clean that out and so of course that was a set back and I’m still pretty rough. I’m in PV Mexico and have to fly home on Saturday which I’m not looking forward to.I don’t really feel restriction yet either but I know when I swallowed the dye for the fluoroscopy I had to drink like 2-3 full
Ounces at once and it felt tight. After that I Went back to my room and try to sip some warm tea and then I gagged and had some dry heaves and I think that’s what caused my bleeding. I am hoping to be able to get out of the hospital and go to the hotel today but I’m not sure. I have a drain in from the second surgery and it still putting out blood. Good luck and keep in touch let me know how it goesFrustr8 and shoregirl75 reacted to this -

I didn’t tell my parents or my boyfriends mom bcuz I didn’t want them to worry especially since I went to Mexico, people freak out when I tell them that. My work family and my kids know. I think it’s a personal choice who u tell

I do go out to eat alot still, but i make healthy choices when i do. My husband is very happy for me, but he knows i adore him and i wouldnt trade him in for anything...lol i was lucky to have a husband who is very supportive and loving. This journey will change you completely, listen to your dr. and follow all the eating rules. It will suck at first, but it does get better and you will achieve your goals!

I am scheduled for gastric bypass September 6th in Tacoma Washington. 6 days into preop diet and it is getting easier. I have to agree with Frustr8 that I am more concerned about life if I did not do this. I just keep reminding myself I want to be here for my grandchildren.
GOOD LUCK tomorrow! Im counting down til i get on the plane saturday for Mexico and then surgery on monday the 10th. Let us know how it goes!

This time next week my surgery will be complete In Puerta Vallarta Mexico but I wont be leaving until the following saturday bcuz the airline i wanted to use only goes there on Saturdays. I had flyer miles that made the flight free for me and my boyfriend so I couldnt pass tht up. Plus, I may as well stay close to my hospital/surgeon while Im recovering. Im struggling with this 2 week clear liquid diet especially when I see other people not having to do it. My man has been working out of town so I havent really had that support or just having him present at all. Ive been a bit emotional lately anyone else? I dont know if its hormones, him being gone or pending surgery or - YES all of that! I cant wait to say bye to fat me. This summer I havent even wanted to go out to places I normally go and its depressing. Sorry I am whiney today
