Anytime you lose a large amount of weight in a short period of time you stand a chance of getting gallstones.
i lost eighty pounds in four months and I started to get unbelievable chest pains that would not stop but it was when I started getting nausea pretty bad that I went to the E/R, long story short xray found 10 stones in my gall bladder.
The operation started out laparoscopic but had to be converted to open when he found my gall bladder chronic and necrotic.

i had the band in 07 but a year later my band slipped due to forceful vomiting so I had it removed and converted it to the sleeve and all these years later I regained my weight back. I now am scheduled for RNY surgery May 3rd.
I have never heard of anyone going back to the band after the sleeve but do a lot of research so you can make a informed and comfortable decision that you can live with. Good luck!

wearing my mask actually helps me fall asleep but at some point after losing a considerable amount of weight I will not need it anymore but since it helps me sleep I may have a problem giving it up. ☹️

I was told by my surgeon to expect a 4 hr surgery because its a revision and it takes a long time to separate the stomach from the liver.

pumping the stomach with air is a way to check for possible leaks prior to closing.

If you go through tricare then you will be following tricare rules which are more restrictive than going through a military hospital I am also 45 minutes away ( Walter Reed) but I would suggest going through a military Dr and he or she will tell you your options. Good luck.........BobHi, my name is Leigh Anne and I’m in the beginning stages of researching bariatric surgery. My husband is retired military so we have Tricare prime. I’ve seen the requirements for surgery and I do qualify according to those, however, I’m unsure how to prove my failed weight loss attempts? Maybe I’m overthinking. Also, the nearest base is about 45 minutes from here, would I be required to have my surgery on base or could I use a network surgeon (if I can find one)? I appreciate any input and advice you may have for me.

Well, I finally had my endoscopy today and although I was in a light sleep I clearly remember gagging through the whole procedure. oh well its finally done and everything looked good and the dr said I am a good candidate for my surgery so its all downhill from here. Thanks for everyone's input.......Bob

Has anybody had a endoscopy that they can share how the experience went? I am having this procedure done in a couple of weeks and I need to be up and ready to leave in about an hour after the procedure is done to get to another appointment within the hospital. Thanks........Bob

To each his own. Your milage may vary but there must be a reason that its not recommended. I'm not taking that chance.....Bob

Has anyone had their doctor address lifting weight after surgery? How much and when can you go about lifting as you previously did. Thanks.....Bob

I am 2 yrs out and I firmly believe the all the diet soda I was drinking stretched my sleeve. I will find out by how much the 27th when I go for my floroscopy for my revision to RNY. Lesson learned.
