Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...

BrandyII, I totally agree. I had phenomenal results with PhenFen - which I got for dirt cheap in Mexico. That's the only time in my whole life I felt comfortable in bathing suits - even wore bikinis back then. But honestly, I was in my 20s then and didn't have the health issues I have now. My band weight loss has been slow but before I had it put in my weight was steadily going up and I could see 250 looming and thought I absolutely had to do something. I'm 3 lbs from 200 now. And I haven't been under 200 lbs in years and years. Unfortunately, parts of me are starting to look like deflated balloons! Ick! Wasa - I'm having nightmarish nighttime reflux after last fill (3 whole weeks ago)! Is this what's happening to you? I'm hoping an unfill will help. I got this fill because I had taken my dad out to dinner and eaten almost a whole blooming onion. I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to be able to do this but I did it and omydearlord it was sooooo good . I thought I definitely didn't want to be able to do that on a regular basis so I got a fill and now I guess if the unfill works to get rid of the reflux (which I did not have at all before), then I'll just stick with that and try to stay away from the fatty stuff I love. I do know that's what I'm supposed to be doing anyway but old habits die hard. I'm getting more and more into the workouts, so maybe that will at least help the weight loss.

Kat - PLEASE tell us about your tuck experience after it's done - I have fantasies but I want to know from a real person what the truth is about the surgery and recovery, and how happy you are with the results.

Happy Birthday Brandi! My doc (Spiegel) said it would last forever, too. Heard a lot of mini-horror stories in the waiting room but every one of them had it replaced.

    Whos exercising??

Hi Nat, I'm working out like a possessed woman. 50 mins on the treadmill, 10 on the elliptical, and 40 mins weightlifting. So far, no weight results. BUT, omg, my back is so much stronger, I feel much more motivated, too. Everybody tells me if I stick with it (been 1 and 1 half months so far), the results will come. But I watch Biggest Loser and just want to cry. In any event, being strong and having muscles and a stronger heart makes you feel better! I've only done the Bikram Yoga - it was not challenging at all. I'd love to do Pilates in a studio but it is super-pricey! The varied part - I think it comes with working out. Sooner or later you'll just want to do something new. And of course the trainers say it's useful for fitness to try something you haven't done before. Post your results from time to time - I'm curious if it is more helpful for the lbs for you than me.
  5. Alice, some of us are just "lucky." I lose weight really slowly too. My first week? Ate nothing whatsoever - used Isopure because I hate those shake-type things so much they make me retch - less than 400 calories a day - and I GAINED A POUND!!! Talk about disgusted. Hang in there though. What happens for me - and several other people I've talked to - is you lose nothing and then wake up on the odd Tuesday 3 lbs lighter. Go figure. It adds up after awhile.

Well, it got this much off me - and I really, really don't lose weight easily. What's a sleeve? I think with all the wonderful medical advancements, those brilliant lab dudes should be able to take the harmful parts out of anti-hunger drugs. But I'm a dreamer.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Does anybody know if costs as much to remove the band as to put it in in the first place?

Nicole, I just have to tell you before you have your surgery that as a hypochondriac, subject to panic attacks, you may not like having a band. Whether you go through with getting the band or not, take action now to begin some type of meditation or prayer or whatever works for you on a regular basis to keep you calm. You will need emotional support, too. This is as much of a challenge as any other way of losing weight. The "sales" pitches make it sound like you just eat a little bit and you're satisfied. Wrong. The fact is you eat a little bit and if you eat one half pea more, you're going to puke - sometimes in public. (You will have time to make it to the restroom.) If you eat something that won't go through the band - it is positively excruciating until your mini-stomach digests it enough to go through - takes an hour or two - very painful. I had HUGE panic the first time this happened and still won't even consider eating spinach. This is not a complication in any way - it's the way the band works - the way it is supposed to work. And mine is working big time. Please note - this doesn't mean that you're satisfied - you just can't eat any more. kn4ev

Found out today my band slipped :(

I've heard a lot of stories like yours in the waiting room of the dr. An unfill will usually work. The dr. just has to give you baby fills from now on - and very infrequent. One lady told me she had 3 complete unfills over the course of a year. I have to say, though, that she looks fantastic!
