  1. I had the raised vein post-op. Please call your own doc but I will share what I was told to do. I called the consulting nurse who explained to me that this was normal at the IV site especially when I had been given so much Morphine. Morphine is irritating to the vein. I did have clots there so I chewed baby aspirin to thin the blood a little for a few days making sure to rinse the pouch well after since we aren't supposed to use aspirin with the band. It went away in about a week. The scariest part was that the clot migrated. Maybe your doc has a better option. Call 'em and find out. Make sure to take a Multivitamin like chewable Centrum or Flintstones complete. That might help with the cramping and general body "freak out" About the arriving daughter... She should be able to not only help you lots, but can move boxes too. Sorry to hear about your niece, having family around you will be a good thing.

IS THIS A ROLL a COASTER?!

After my fill I lost 9 pounds in a day and a half. 288 to 279 Then I regained five of those pounds. I have not changed my ticker and hope it is water weight. The barium from the fill really cleaned me out and hopefully dehydrated me a little. I have no idea how I could be gaining when I consume between 600 and 1100 calories per day. I really do not think I am in "starvation mode" but I am really ready for significant, steady loss too!

    Knitting

Kat!!! Too cute! I love the apron set and what is candlewicking? Sounds fun. I taught myself to knit when I was pregnant, it just seemed the right thing to do. Now I have a huge bag of knitting in my room just like my grandmother used to, weird. Purling is no biggie, and worth learning since everything looks so much better when you knit a row, purl a row... Is that the garter stitch? I still can't figure out crochet... Oh well.

    Fills in Seattle area

BillieBeth, I ended up not going to see Kitty and Robin because my port is too deep. They only have the 2" needles and I need at least a 3", maybe 4" since this is still new for me and my port is located deep on my waistline. If you cannot easily feel your port, you may want to hold off on using them for now. I plan on keeping the contact info they sent through the mail and when I have lost some more weight I will give them shot. For now, I have chosen to see Dr. Neal in Olympia. The fluoro is worth it for me. If I ever get enough time and money to drag my butt to Mexico, I'd see my surgeon, Dr. Kuri. But thankfully... I have restriction now! YAY!
  5. Does anyone else have one of these? Mine is kind of embarassing and something only a fat girl can relate to. My bra keeps sliding up my back until it is right between my shoulders and my girls are looking... "depressed" This is so distressing for me. In Jr. High I had the same problem in reverse. My back was getting fatter and my bra would slide or roll up because it was just too small. I was just sure everyone noticed, they probably did. I know I should be overjoyed, now. This is happening because my back fat is no longer thick enough to hold the darn thing down. I am shrinking, slowly, but surely. I am going to accentuate the positive (and buy a new bra) while you all tell me your NSV's you would rather just skip.

    Pars Flaccida Anyone?

Mine was placed using the pars flacida technique. According to my docs post-op note: The Gastric Fundus was fixed to the Crura (Diaphragm) with stitches of Ethibond 2-0. I thought this could have been the reason why I had hiccups for a week or so post op. I have read on both techniques and am glad to have had my band placed in this manner. Medical spam sucks and in this little community we have here it seems to be everywhere.
  8. voted 4 days or less: I am in home with my daughter. I would say I struggled for the first two weeks (at least), but was doing my darndest 3 days post-op.

Hi! I'm trying to take vicodin

Bitter pill, huh? Sorry the liquid makes you ill, is it just gross? Crush the pill or cut it into pieces. Vicodin is nasty tasting. You could ask for another painkiller...

    What Grinds your Gears?

ALL of your stuff, plus MUMBLERS!! I seem to have married one. I ask him a question and if I am lucky he mumbles a response and I only have to ask him to repeat it 3 or 4 times. The first time he repeats it is at the same volume but this time with his back turned. I usually have to give up before I understand. If choking someone out of frustration was legal... Then again, he will interrupt an important task, for example, reading directions on the freeway, to have me look "over there". This is where I whip my head around only to wonder what I am supposed to be looking for. He wants me to see someone in a car, or a new business, or a dog. Geez, just typing this is making me hostile. I need someone to screen my interruptions. We have a "rule". I have permission to either ignore or get angry with the third thing. I am only obligated to split my attention two directions. Add a third and it is your head. Fair? I think so.
  13. omg, this thread is to funny..where did that smily come from?! I want one! Welp, I'm actually surprised to hear so many women like to do "it" because I actually don't like to and only do it when I'm begged to and I've ran out of excuses...Am I missing something? Is there some way to do it that makes it more enjoyable for me??? I went through an 'anti-sex' phase during my pregnancy. Just the thought of a mouthful of man juice made me nauseous. We used flavored condoms. The minty ones are nice. I think of it as a nice way to put him to bed without having to take a shower after.

    Kiwis, any advice?

Everything that was safe to eat before is still safe. Pineapple, oranges and limes are fibrous and acidic. Either one of these qualities may take some getting used to until you either learn...or give them up for good. Kiwi isn't exactly fibrous if you skip the skin and should be fine, especially if you blend it in a smoothie or something, Yum. Are solids OK at this point? Maybe you are irritated from forcing yourself during healing? Just a thought. If you are having troubles, call the doc.

If it were up to you, what laws would you create?

"child molesters" and "bullet in the head" go together really well. Who cares what we can learn from them. I am seriously considering adding this to my signature line(s)!! I am also loving the semi / highway tax reform. I have missed or nearly missed many exits because I was unable to read the signs until I had almost passed them. Ooh, make the trucks (and port cargo containers) lucite! Easier to screen... OK now I am just ranting... stopping now.

    pressure in throat

I get this when I have a lot of spit or phlegm. The stuff floats on water and tries to get out. Try drinking warmer water, or tea relatively quickly if this is what you think it may be. The warmth opens the stoma and the tea/water helps to dissipate the foam. It isn't a lot of fun to cough up, especially newly banded, ouch. About the incision, call your doc if you think it is infected. It is going to hurt for awhile. Nasty twinges and burning. Redness, oozing, or swelling around the edges of the incision are worth a call to the surgeon.
  19. I would think if it was after you are healed... I gag more brushing my tongue in the morning than while recreating with my hubby. It definitely falls into the liquid protein category

If it were up to you, what laws would you create?

What if the tax breaks were taken from married couples but applied to households. Then seperated couples would have an easier time getting their info together and would be unable to go decades dodging taxes. Roomates (like sibs) who decided to stay single could reap the benefits of a stable household and those who had 'issues' with 'non-traditional' (human only) couples could sleep at night. Now we only need an established church to support same sex union and 'freedom of religion' can start working for the liberals too. I think it is about time. Maybe the athiests should unionize, what say you Wheetsin?

Or worse, they get out of the crowded lane and into the ending lane... speed right up to the merge and force themselves back in! *shaking fist*

If it were up to you, what laws would you create?

I like yours! Mine is less creative: I think headlights should be required if your wipers are on. I got one, the people who exit the freeway, then cross over and re-enter just to dodge a chunk of standing, rush-hour traffic. It should cause severe tire damage. Selfish, selfish people.

    clarification needed please

That is restriction, or at least what mine feel like. Congrats, you found it! Yeah, the drugged fullness feeling is gone, but hunger is much less troublesome than pre-op. I feel good about the trade-off.

Long time no see, y'all. I just wanted to suffer in silence with my two month plateau. I have had a fill now and am back on track. My how you all have shrunk! I am currently 279, down 6 pounds for the week, 33.8 total. Thanks P'nut for not deleting this no-show-er.
