    July surgery

Im actually going to get a mani and pedi here soon in a couple of days too! Washing all my clothes doing things that I know I won't be able to when im out of surgery. Eyebrows are also this week haha thats so funny that we are doing pretty much the same things! Probably going to spend some of my "points" here on the BA store to get phase 3 foods that keep well in the pantry. Also I found this nut butter at Costco I had a spoonful the other day its AMAZING! Its called Nuttzo, its so good!!! Also they give to charity which Im pretty big on. But the nut butter itself is def bariatric friendly, paleo and vegan friendly, organic, peanut and gluten free! YAY! https://www.nuttzo.com/product/12oz-organic-paleo-power-fuel-crunchy/

    July Gastric Bypass?

Nervous as hell! Im on a 3 week liquid diet, so not having my comfort zone with food is making me feel the anxiety even more, but I got this! That's so cool we will be going in at the same time!

    July surgery

@Luzbella I know right? Im "nesting" also. Cleaned out my entire pantry, fridge, cleaned my house. Making room for the new protein shakes, jello, broth, phase 1 and 2 ready to go! Bought all the necessary products for later such as pyrex dishes, toddler utensils, sippy cups, got me a bariatric compression garment off amazon, some walking fuzzy memory foam slippers to make my rounds in the hospital. My surgery day is the 30th also! Weve got 6 DAYS!

    liquid diet

@lviz Omg youre so lucky look at that buffet of choices! My surgeon is strictly 4 protein shakes a day, calcium chews 1500, and my chewable vitamins for 3 weeks.

    Actual time off work

My surgery is 7/30 and im returning to work 8/20, but I have desk job. I felt I needed as much time as I could possibly get to learn how to refeed while keeping pain, mental stress at bay.

    Anyone try bananas? When?

I actually don't like bananas at all, however banana flavoring I love. LIke banana puddings, protein powders, etc. Weird huh? LOL
  8. Im off 3 weeks for my bypass, because I feel I need it to adjust fully with food intake, and low stress.

    Stigma with WLS

You know whats interesting? I only told a few hand selected people from my place of employment also, however someone came up to me and said "I heard a rumor...." I switched the topic instantly and made a fast getaway. Like HOW are people finding this out or why does it matter so much what im doing? Now im just assuming but that's the only thing that is going on in my life that they would "hear" about. By logical deduction he was being ultra nosy (hes one a mega busybody) and wanted to get the info. It just really irks me. Since when did I become so frigging interesting? I swear WLS does something to people. Where it's like this crazy SUPER interesting topic that people HAVE to chime in for, kinda like politics or religion. People are very uncomfortable about others changing. Ive really started to realize this. Anytime a constant is changed especially if you are close to them (family, friends, significant others) or work in close proximity (work places), people literally have to confront themselves with how they feel about YOU changing. It's crazy. The psychology of it all.

    July Gastric Bypass?

Wow lots of 7/30/18 surgeries! Remember to add it to the spreadsheet that Ylime has.
  11. Yeah hes extremely strict. I did incorporate a clear liquid protein shot and a cup of broth if I really cant stomach the protein shakes which is starting to happen. Same thing every day Im starting to be like "EW"!
  12. I guess I can chime in, even though mine is 3 week liquid diet and its on going at the moment. Seems that my doctors protocol is very strict compared to what I've been reading on the forums. I started on 7/9/18, my surgery date is 7/30/18, and so far I am down 8 pounds. Im on Bariatric Advantage shakes, 4x a day, BA Calcium Chews (3), and BA chewable vitamins.

    July Gastric Bypass?

Im definitely going through the "keto flu", but im starting to feel better. Last night I felt like dying, neck pain, headache was the worst day ever. But today! Im starting to feel better, and im really really thankful for that. I need to get a scale and start keeping track too. Im at my surgeons office weighing in so much I figured I could wait to buy one LOL!

    July Gastric Bypass?

Down 4.5 pounds and I started my 3 week liquid fast on 7/9/18. Surgery date is 7/30/18!
  17. @Tracy1978 God tell me about it! My pre-op is VERY strict. Im on 3 weeks liquid diet (protein shakes). 4 days in and Im just thinking holy crap! Mine seems ultra strict compared to others. 2 weeks liquid for sleeve patients and 3 weeks for bypass patients at my surgeons office.
  18. Day 4, kind of freaking out myself. Feeling tired, sluggish too, and just down right cranky....

    New to the site

I put mine in a bowl and freeze it about 30 minutes, so it ends up being like ice cream. Im also having this same issue with them going right through me until I started getting super creative (mostly bored with what I had), so I wanted to Dr it up.

    Cramps

Ive heard that cramping in legs is caused by low potassium. Just as an FYI coconut water has more potassium than a banana. Im doing this right now with my pre-op shakes. I used to get awful leg cramps middle of the night that would wake me up out of my sleep, sometimes in one/both legs at the same time. Bananas have about 400+mg and coconut water has around 600+mg of potassium.
  21. @pumpkinlocks Yes im on the protein shakes right now, for three weeks (cries)! I actually like the Bariatric Advantage but I am allowed to make mine with unsweetened Almond Milk, then I freeze it for 30 mins so its like "ice cream" LOL! I have the banana, chocolate, and vanilla. Sometimes I mix it up and do banana and choc together, choco and vanilla, etc. The Vanilla is a little plain so I threw in some cinnamon and vanilla extract.

    Fighting the Negativity

Nothing is wrong with you. She is struggling with her own issues and probably wants someone to "struggle" with. Just know this is your choice, and it's a private one if you want it to be. I would suggest telling her that you have made your decision and you are sticking with it. Me personally I would remove her from FB and other things and thank her for the "advice" but I am choosing another path.
