Hey all, I had my surgery 7/2 and I got pushed back to the puréed diet due to so much nausea and vomiting. It’s so frustrating for me because I can’t work out due to not eating hardly anything. The Protein Drinks make me sick and the Vitamins make me sick so I’m falling so far behind. My team at the hospital hasn’t been much help except to push me back to the puréed diet from the soft diet. I can’t wait for this part to be over with. Plus with the heat I’m too weak to really leave my house except for work! Did anyone else have this issue?

Yes, I had my surgery 7/3 and I've been hospitalized twice because of not being able to eat and drink. I can let you know I ordered vitamin patches because I have a problem with taking the Vitamins. At my recent stay at the hospital i was able to tolerate soft foods with the help of phenergan. Zofran and regland didn't help as well as phenergan did. Hopefully it goes away soon and you feel better!

  2. When you get to the point where you can swallow pills again, you may want to consider a capsule vs a chewable. I take ProCare Health 1x per day tablet with Iron. With chewables, you have to take multiple times per day. Whereas, I take this at night, only one capsule. Its just like prenatal Vitamins, where they recommend to take at night, if it causes nausea. I take my calcium/vitamin d tabs in the AM.

Do you like this Vitamin? I thought about getting it but I lot of people said it tasted bad and they had trouble swallowing it? I'm curious as you your findings? I'm vitamin hopping at the moment cuz I can't find ones that work and I don't want to be taking 10 pills a day.

  3. I am not a yogurt person!
I have bought some fat free Chobani & FAGE brands and can’t seem to eat more than a spoonful, taste is too bitter. So I am curious as to how you all incorporate your Greek yogurt into your meals. I am 6 weeks post up and starting to incorporate new textures.
    any suggestions.
I love the dannon light and fit Greek yogurt. It doesn't have as much of a bite to it. Or the chobani Greek drinkable but that has a bit too much sugar.

  4. We had a combined liquid, puree, mushy and soft foods stage for the first month followed by everything else thereafter. The general rule was to try new foods one at a time to test for tolerance - if it settled, OK, great, and if not then back up to familiar things and try again in a week or two;
That said, the safest thing to do is to follow your programs guidelines, and if in doubt, check with them - surgeons often advance patients ahead of their published guidelines if they feel that they are ready for it. We don't know if your program's progression is based upon specific experiences - your surgeon may make his sleeves differently from others such that it needs more time - or if it's just "that's the way we have always done it."
I had my surgery on July 3rd and I've tried to progress quicker but my stomach wasn't having it.

  5. Almost go time!!! July 18th is my surgery date and here I am up as usual worrying. How do I know if my liver has shrunk enough for surgery?? I started the preop up diet on the fourth and I’m down roughly 12 pounds. I don’t have high cholesterol so I’m not sure. I don’t know I’m just worried cause it’s getting close and I’m worried it’s going to get taken away from me again.
Hello! I had my surgery on July 3rd. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and kidney problems. I had a 2 week pre op diet that consisted of 80 grams of Protein, a salad a day with fat free dressing, as well 2 cups of crunchy veggies and 1 cup of fruit if I wanted. For the most part I did great. I did have salad without fat free dressing and one day I had a bunch of taco bell which I know I shouldn't have but I was fine with having the surgery. I lost 14lbs pre op and I'm down 26lbs total from heaviest so about 12lbs since the surgery. When i doubt call your surgical coordinator. Mine was very helpful! Good luck! If you need any advice let me know!

  6. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I'm a week post op and thank the Lord I didn't really have any pain. I do feel nauseous a lot and I can't take big sips or I get even more nauseous. I heard the nauseousness will go away and I pray it's soon. I will pray for you as well. The journey is just beginning. Let me know how you are feeling. Best of luck in your weight loss journey.

Congrats on your surgery and best wishes for a quick recovery. How are you doing on your Fluid intake? Right now, that is far more important than Protein. Protein waters are easier to get down than the shakes, imo. They're still quite sweet, like koolaid or gatorade. I Water mine down some.

Thanks so much! I doing fairly well with Fluid intake. I'm one of he few that loves drinking Water so i don't need to add anything to it in order to drink it. it's just remembering to take small sips throughout the day. I have to say though that the sugar free popsicles have been a lifesaver for me. My stomach tolerates that better than water but I think my sips are slightly too big.

  8. Also I wanted to say that I'm glad you chose to go ahead and have the sleeve surgery instead of listening to your kidney doctor so what if you do put on a little weight later on down the road losing weight is always healthy even if it is a partial amount of what you needed to lose so keep your chin up I think you made a great decision the nausea won't last that long I'm here for you if you ever want to talk or have questions(((( hugs))))) [emoji3]

Thank you so much! Right now I need to focus on getting my 60mg of Protein I'm having trouble finishing the shakes right now and the food I can have doesn't have much protein in it.

  9. I want to thank you for your bravery in telling your story. I'm only a week post op and reading through your thread is giving me encouragement. Im starting to hit a lull where the food isn't tasting good and I''m having trouble getting all the Fluid and Protein that I need to get. Lucky for me I'm not experiencing pain just nauseousness. I've been horrible at dieting in the past and my kidney doctor didn't want me to have it because she said I'd just gain all the weight back. So that's a fear of mine. I have 2 bracelets that I wear. One says "One Day at a Time" and the other says "She believed she could so she did". It helps me to look at them as a reminder and despite how I'm feeling it's a good mantra to repeat to keep me on track. I have suffered some abuse in my past and therapy has helped me a lot. I might go back for continued support through this weight loss journey. My sister said I need to reach out to people who have had the surgery and that's what brought me to this site. Best of luck staying on track! We are in this together! Hopefully we can help keep each other accountable on this weight loss journey. PS I'm so surprised you weren't more informed about the post op journey prior to surgery. The surgeon and his staff were very helpful in preparing us for the procedure and everything we need to know afterwards. From the fluid and food to the Vitamin supplements that need to be taken. Thanks again for allowing us to be apart of your journey!!

  10. Hi July Sleevers,

I'm new to this group. I had my surgery on July 3rd. I'm down 22 lbs total from heaviest until now. I really didn't have too much pain in the hospital and at home thank God. I do get nauseous. My biggest problem post op is getting enough Water and Protein. I think I'm going to go back to the Premier Protein since I got more protein per shake. I have a second follow up in 2 weeks to get off of the full liquid diet and move onto puree. I can't wait to be able to eat whole food again. I can pretty much only tolerate sugar free popsicles, light and fit greek yogurt, and fat free cottage cheese with Polaris all fruit and Protein Shakes of course. Any suggestions and tips because it's getting a little frustrating. I cant wait for the recovery to be over.
