  1. ok i have bcbs of mn so I can share my experience with them  I was approved in 2 days  I hear this alot from bcbs fast approvals. So do your six month diet make sure your doctor documents why your there what your doing to loose weight and excersize every month I ended up seeing a nutristionist and my pcp for the 6 month diet because mye drs notes were not detailed enough. Also during the 6 months use that time to meet all the other requirements the phyc eval. the classes if the surgeon reqires them. Have your doctor write a letter you write a letter just have anyone write a letter lol I was approved in 2 days then my surgery was scheduled for 2 weeks latter. But no one called me I only knew from me called the ins and then calling the dr.

  2. emily..im having my surgery in Baton Rouge....Dr Karl LeBlanc....im very new to the process my first appt with him is jul 23......im finding the process to be very slowwwwww

well I will tell you this... if it wasnt for my ins wanting the 6 month diet it all would have been fast with my center in lafayette because I had my last 6 month apt gave the center the paper work that monday the 23rd they sent it in that friday and I was approved that monday on the 30th and the surgery was scheduled 2 weeks later on the 16th BUT when I was in the pre op class the others had to wait 6 weeks for there pre op apt and to schedule the surgery... this is what I did... I call call call but not in an aggrivating way or to bother them I call when I have a problem I explain Im stressed out I just want to know this and that and I get to the person I need to talk to I believe thats the only reason mine moved so fast because I was persistant  I called the ins everyday (even though it was only 2 days to approve) and I called the center the moment i found out i was approved and asked to schedule the surgery. Sooo be persistant because if your not they will put whoever is before you. lol now I said my rant :)

oh mine is at southwest medical center in lafayette

  3. Ok so I have been on liquids now for 7 days and I have bad bad pain in my stomach.. I have followed my liquid diet 100 % so today the pain in my stomach was so bad I thought I should try to eat something.. well when I did I threw up and there was alot of slime? mucus? I dont know is this normal to have this pain from not eating? Is it normal to throw up when you try to eat something? I have never went without eating for this long before. I get my band on the 16th. Its not a hunger pain or an acid pain its an actual hurting pain. Thanks for any info :)

  4. hmm well I am not banded yet but I know what they told me in the group meetings.. after a fill its liquids for 2 days then mushies for 2 days then soft food for 2. Also they told me that if I am having problems that its probably because I am not chewing good enough or Im taking too big of bites. So I dont know from experience but this is what I am being told at my pre op meetings

  5. like i said you cant give what you dont have... only thing you can do is write a really good letter. In my case I wrote that letter documenting everything from age 12 till now and had about 10 family members sign it. I am sure this is why I got approved because my pcp wrote a letter only saying I think my patient needs this surgery call me with questions lol ugh I did all the pre op testing today that was horrible!!! but very happy to have my surgery and I already lost 5 pounds in 3 days on the liquid diet woohooo :scared2:

  6. I dont know why they want it but I didnt have a weight history at all.. I did everything they asked and I wrote my own weight history from 12 on up and I was approved in 2 days !!! :wink2: bcbs!! dont worry i am sure you will be approved.. I thought I would be denied and I already had an appeal letter lol

  7. thats crazy they are treating you like that I did the 6 month diet and one of the notes my dr did not write wat she was supposeed to. But I also had 5 months with the nutritionist. I would suggest you get the name of the person working on your case and send them a letter certified.. then I would also ask your PCP to do a peer to peer. I hope it all works out

  8. It seems like your process went really quick except the 6 month diet. Did you lose any during your diet? If so how much? I am 3 months through my diet and really haven't lost much. I am have been looking at it as though it is just a hoop I must jump through. My bmi is about 50. I know I have to start trying harder. I am at 314 and my PCP said he would like me to be under 300 for my surgery. I know I can do that pretty easy, I just have to focus.

Well my BMI was in the 30s my insurance would not approve me at that.. so I had to gain 15 pounds and then we messured me at 5"1 instead of 5"2. So If I lost 2 pounds I would have been disqualified since I have no health problems. So my 6 month diet was basically the first time in my life I wasnt dieting. I have heard that alot of ins wont approve u for lapband if your BMI is over 50 so make sure its like 49 before u submit. Also if I were you I would skip the 6 month diet get a letter from your PCP then you write a letter and I would even just pay the 400.00 for the lawyer to help... but I cant stand the stress of the 6 months it almost killed me... during that 6 months my dad died suddenly.. I found out I had cervical cancer.. I just had a hard 6 months :) But I will have my surgery soon and they are starving me now on this liquid diet  so I lost 4 pounds in 2 days :cool2: But I am weak and sick feeling. I dont know how I will go with no food until the 16th!!

  9. I was approved in 2 business days with bcbs of mn. my surgery is on july 16th!!!!!!! :) I had to do the 6 month diet. I did it with my pcp and the nutritionist at the center. I also got a letter from my pcp and wrote my own life history letter  I wanted to be prepared since my bmi is 40 with no health problems

  10. ugh I know what you are feeling i went through it a week ago. I was so nervous and sick I could not even sleep!!! But I was approved 2 business days later :tt1: Soooo just try to stay calm and try to think about something else to keep your mind busy and know if your denied you can ask your dr to do a peer to peer and if that doesnt work theres the appeal :tt1: congrats in advance!! My surgery is scheduled for july 16th wooohoooo

  11. hmm mine did not tell me to tell ppl... but i tell ppl anyways :tt1: I am so happy I am having the surgery and although strangers dont need to know I like to tell my family and friends because if not I fill like I will expload lol.. I dont have any kids though so I dont know how I would handle that.. I think its great u told them ur having surgery because you never know what might happen :tt1:
