  1. The following site is a good source for information for a nurse or a doctor to do fills correctly. I had to do it myself but I was forced to. For information purposes only. There are 15 pages.

    ADJ 1

You might also try to put 5 fingers of your less dominant hand around the port, feel it, as the patient bends, you will find the port better, press your fingers around the port in circle, you will feel the circular quarter shape, just about a quarter size, level it, so that with your right hand you can insert a noncore needle in the midlle of the septrum perpendicularly, insert till you hit the metal part of the port, just about an inch, do not use force, VG bands are low pressure ports, inject the saline with little force. For 4cc bands you might need a little more force because they are under pressure, use much less saline as the doc instructs. The Needle is for single use, properly dispose it.

Disclaimer: For nurse and praticiners education only, patients need to know what professional do, isometime they mess up, and quite often poke around a lot.

Thanks for this article :tongue2: I agree it is way to expensive to get a fill that only takes 30 seconds. I was actually wondering the same thing why cant I just fill myself. I dont know if I would actually try to do it because Im a scardy cat but Its good you found out how and it works for you :wink5: Good luck on your weight loss!!! :smile2:

  2. Hi I need a fill doctor in Louisiana... I usually get my fills from my doctor in lafayette but because of the rude people there and being over charged I dont want to go back. Now I need a new fill person but I dont want to pay a fortune. My doctor charges 100.00 a fill so I am looking for someone who charges around the same. Thanks I would really appreciate any help :smile2:

  3. HI I had my surgery July 16th with dr cunningham in lafayette,la... and I have to say I would NOT recomment it  They are not very nice they take there time very slow with paper work and they only seem to care about money. They will take ur fills very very very slow in my opinion just to make extra money also they always seem to have an attitude. Although I do like dr cunningham and think hes a good dr. He has a Very diff personality though. So I would not recomment the southwest medical center in lafayette... skip over chu, cunningham and stevens :( I hope I helped!!!

  4. well im doing ok but not so great....ive lost 26 pounds since my preop diet. so only 16 since my surgery on july 16th so 2 1/2 months out. I think because my doctors only gave me 2 fills at 1cc each so I dont have much restriction  so I am sure my band will work I guess it will just work slooooooooooow :scared2: congrats on ur weight loss!!!!! :w00t:

  5. OK so I am almost 2 months post op I have only had one fill of 1cc it did nothing!!!! I am getting frustrated and feeling like I wasted my time. I have only lost 10 lbs since surgery.. and no I am not going out and eating tons of crap. I am starving though... and I think its so stupid that I have only had one fill of 1cc. So what about you??? what did you have? Should I call around to other doctors to see if they will let me have a fill or what? Because if I have to wait 1 month for each fill of 1cc this will take forever!!!

  6. I just got my first fill and it was at 6 weeks. The doctor said its not safe to have one before then.. so for 4 weeks i did not lose anything. I had my first fill on thurday and he would only put 1cc I was so mad but he said he had to be safe. So thats my experience with it. Dont worry get the surgery you will find someone to give u a fill.

  7. ugh this is the worse part!!!! I had surgery july 16th so Im post op 6 weeks I will have my first fill on thurs the 28th and I have to tell you I have been starving... It seems worse now than before surgery although I have been keeping my intake below 1200 and exercising I have lost no weight since the 2 week mark. It sux!! But anyways this is normal to be hungry now ;)

  8. I feel you :) I am post of for 5 weeks and I have not lost any weight in 3 of those weeks :) I just am so depressed really. Its hard.. I cant stay motivated when the scale is not moving. But I get my first fill next week :) So I am hoping that will help :w00t:.... Now as for you... try not to be hard on yourself and try to clean out your cabnits of junk food. Try to start exercising and logging your food intate so you will know what your taking in. Maybe start a blog this is what I did it really helps... what I do is share one with my cousin shes dieting to loose weight then it helps us motivate each other. Try something like that. :tt2:

  9. I'm another one struggling w/ the same scenario. My BMI was 41 pre-op. I lost 10 on the pre-op diet & another 12 since surgery, but that also was in the first 2 weeks. Now I just wait for the scale to move-and it doesn't. I'm trying hard to just maintain.

why we sound just the same!!! well at least we know now that this seems normal!! But its still hard to accept. I put my scale away because I couldnt take it anymore :)

  10. HI I am one month post op tomorrow. When I started this process and I read how some people lost weight so slowly I was sure that would not be me since I dedicate myself 100% to things. Also I lost 60 pounds in just about 4 months... of course I gained it all back thats why I had the surgery. Anyways so now I am post op 1 month and only lost 10 pounds since the surgery and 10 pounds on my pre op diet. The 10 I lost after the surgery was the first 2 weeks.. the last 2 weeks I have lost NOTHING!!!! I blog what I eat and I exercise every day for 30 mins to 1 hour. Now before I had the band if I did this I would loose at least 4 pounds a week.. and now nothing?? At first I said well I am not loosing because I am gaining muscle but come on how long can your body stay at the same weight with such low calorie intake and so much exercising? I am getting my 70 grams of Protein and low carbs everything sugar free I am doing all I am supposed to do and I am getting discouraged!!! So if you started out like me with a BMI around 40 please let me know where you were at 1 month post op. Thanks

  11. no Im didnt exercise before the surgery for 6 months because I was dealing with trying to get approved through the ins. I havnt measured to see if I am loosing inches. I know Im getting smaller because my clothes are more loose..I dont understand If Im burning more calories than I am consuming even if I am gaining muscle I think I should be loosing something.

  12. I dont know but I am upset about it.. I have not lost any weight in 10 days Im not even 4 weeks post op and have only lost 10 pounds the other 10 was before surgery. I write down all my calories.. max I have 600 a day and I exercise between 30mins to 1 hour a day... So I cant explain it but I know i dont like it or understand how thats possible :)

  13. I was given a medical device card in my packet for surgery. They said I need to keep it in my wallet. Thats odd they didnt give you one. It came in the lapband packet I received. All of the ppl I know who has flown since the surgery has not had any problems :) have fun in disney world!!!
