  1. Twiggy!!!! I just found out I am pregnant also  I am 6 weeks and 2 days I had my band in July so almost one year. And also I have severe endometriosis I had open surgery for it and I have poly cystic ovarian disease and I just had cryo surgery for cervical cancer cells.. So I was told getting pregnant was probably never going to be possible for me considering everything. But I was so shocked. I came to lapband forum because my band got really tight and all the women on here said thats how they knew they were preg. So I did a test and thats how I found out... and I am so glad I did because 2 days later I started bleeding and had to go to the hospital the baby is still alive but I am on bed rest and if I had not did the test I would have just thought it was my period. So anyways it seems we have alot in common. So keep in touch add me here or on Facebook msg me and I will send my info :)

  2. YES!!! It is very possible to develope and eating disorder after having the band... Thats why they make us see the shrink in the begining.. My cousin developed one very very bad. Me I have had my band for 9 months and I am doing great although I do at times have to make myself eat... or I will eat ice cream as a diet.. not good.. so we all just have to watch it and try to stay healthy and on track

  3. from my experience with the nutritionist and from having my band its better to eat some real sugar than fake sugar... it will just make u crave the real stuff in the long run and u will want more because fake sugars are more sweet... anyways thats what I am told lol

  4. I love my band tooo much also  I have lost 50 51 pounds so far and I am 8 months post op. Its the best desicion I have ever made... the only problem is now I want everyone I know thats morbidly obease to have the surgery and I know this is not the right way of thinking :cool2: I just want to share my happiness!!!! great job on your success!!!!

  5. Im 5 months post op now and I struggled I lost 20 pounds pre and post op liquids then I only lost 2 -3 pounds a month because my dr was filling me so slow. Now I got a good fill from a diff dr last week and I can not swollow much so I lost 9 pounds in 7 days :wink2: woohoo so now I am finally feeling my band... very happy!! :crying: I just wanted to comment on the BMI thing when I went into this my dr and nutritionist said upfront the ins goes by the BMI but they dont.. they go by the persons build and there fat content. So I dont even pay attention to my BMI my dr and nutritionist said that I would be heatly at 150 and this is my goal but I made my 145 .. so I hope to get there  Oh and good job yall look great

  6. Hi I have replied to many concerning shoulder pain, now I'm sending out a thread, I have come to find that my nerve by diaphram is trapped or my band is rubbing aginst it and when I eat and just doing nothing I get the pain in my left shoulder. It is quite painful and if I eat to fast or too much it is my indication to stop. I have been told that it usually lasts up to 3 months. I'm now 5 months out, has anyone had this longer and did it eventually go away? I've been told it will probably always be there unless he goes in and readjusts band, which would mean another surgery and money, since I paid this myself, really don't want to have to come up with more. I can live with the pain most of the time, but it seems to be more often now. I have 7 cc's in but don't really want any taken out, cuz I finally feel restriction. But it maybe too much,. Would love to hear if anyone has had similiar situation.

    Thanks

wow I am so happy to read this thread .. I thought I was alone in this. Ever since my surgery I get the most horrible pain in my left shouder sometimes it just feels unbearable... I never had it before the surgery and did not see how it could be connected but now I see. Thanks. Im also 5 months post op still living with this pain :wink2:

  7. wow your dr is not doing so good... ok the first fill you will probably feel nothing... it takes a few fills you know. The fill itself does not hurt just a little stick and thats it  What you eat depends on your fill but either way you will have to be on liquids the day of your fill then the next few days start slow to see what you can handle. You dont feel it on the outside only the inside. I went 4 months with no restriction then finally I went to rita zuber now i have restriction and I am on mushies right now still after 4 days its great you will see how it is dont worry :girl_hug:

  8. I just wanted to do an update... I had my apt and I LOVE rita she is sooo nice and for the first time I got to see my band. She also printed me a picture  She also gave me a big fill and for the first time I have a restriction  It cost 215.00 or 200.00 cash. Anyone needing a fill in louisiana or texas go see her its well worth the money and drive I promise

  9. well its like a big lump not like a hard ball.. and my port is always very easy to access. So if you look at me from the side u see my tummy is flat but if I turn to the other side with my port you see a big lump. It feels like maybe Fluid. But my port has also been hurting a bit. I did ask about this last time I was at my dr but the nurse said I must just be doing something to pull with my mucles and that the fluid should drain. Anyways they are not to bright.

  10. My port has been swollen since my surgery and I guessed it would go down so I have not worried much. But now its poking out alot and its hurting a little. I am worried a little bit. So has anyone else went through this. My dr office is not to bright so right now I am switching doctors so I just want to hear experiences thanks.

  11. this is my thing... if her dr has NEVER done an Xray and the dr has never done the fill only the nurse who went to a 2 hour class... then what is the difference to do it yourself? YOu know your body better and you know your port better... If you have all the things that your doctor has and everything is sterile then I just dont see the risk... All I ever see is ppl sooooo against it with no proof.

  12. but how can giving a fill hurt the band? I dont understand? It would hurt the port if anything. I dont know seems to easy when I get mine they just stick it and go no equipment no xray nothing just stick and go why couldnt someone do it there self? I dont understand and I cant find anything other than people saying its crazy on msg boreds showing any risk. So if someone has some links or something pls post them so I can see.

  13. I can't even believe they allow that honestly! I've never heard of that before. My doctor originally told me that eventually he does fills in his office, but I've had several and they've all been done under xray to ensure he is correct about the location of my port and to see the contrast is going through the band properly. Last adjustment I had my doctor noticed that my band had shifted just a bit, I would rather him be able to detect these things than risk doing my own fills/unfills.

WOW I wish my dr did an xray or something lol I have had my band for over 3 months and he has never even checked it. I asked several times shouldnt you check my band with an xray and he says only If i have a problem also my dr does not do fills a nurse does. Also he sent me home the same day of surgery lol Sounds like you have a good careful dr. I would at least like to see my band in an xray I wish my dr would at least do that :)
