    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

I am now 6 days post op and feeling pretty good. I haven't been hungry at all, but am tired of broth and apple juice! I did have some cream of potato soup yesterday for lunch and some cream of tomato today, but that has kept me so full that I haven't wanted to eat anything at night. I had some apple juice and a SF popsicle last night and was fine. I did make the mistake day before yesterday of eating a while frozen fruit bar, which my doctor said was OK. It was bigger than the single bullet style popsicles and when I had the whole thing, it HURT. I won't be doing that again. No PB, but man, I felt like I had brain freeze in my stomach! I don't really have any pain any more and havent' taken any pain meds in a couple of days. I feel a "discomfort" in my left side. I am assuming that it's where the tube leads out to the port, but I could be wrong. That's what it feels like. Just a pulling sort of sensation. I go for my followup appointment next week and I'll ask. Other than that, I notice that if I sit hunched over at the computer for long, my whole stomach hurts, like I am squishing everything up inside. So I try to stretch often and have been going home every day up until today at lunch to stretch out a little bit. Glad to hear everyone's doing so well. I've lost 6 pounds since the morning of surgery, so I am excited about that. I'll just be glad when my whole stomach is not uncomfortable anymore and I can wear all my regular cloths. I am still doing stretchy for now. Anything else is uncomfortable!

    Going into complete panic mode

bling, I hope you did OK. I am home and fine. The gas pains were bad yesterday, but today I just sore. It feels like someone has kicked me in the stomach several times. My throat is also a bit sore from the tube, but other than that, I am OK. Taking it easy today, just sleeping a lot and trying to walk some. I could sleep on both sides last night and even onto my stomach a little. I was actually surprised. I am only taking pain meds every 7 hours or so instead of 4 yesterday. It's nice to be on the other side!

    Going into complete panic mode

Tomorrow is mine too!!! I am so excited. Nervous, but excited. It's not the surgery part that bothers me, it's the lifestyle changes afterwards. I know I can do it, but just don't want to fail. My 7 year old is a little upset that I am having "a surgery" as she calls it. She told her whole class that her mom was "having a surgery to put a giant rubber band around her stomach so she wouldn't be fat anymore"... nice... I don't know if I'll sleep or not. I plan to. I love sleeping... Looking forward to the excuse to sleep tomorrow afternoon away after I get back from surgery. So good luck bling and hippiemomma! I'll see you both on the other side!

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

DH won't let me search for 30 something guys, but that's OK... I couldn't be happier with my 40 something man! This does seem to be a mostly woman world... Maybe men just don't post in forums as often as women?? DH rarely gets on the computer... once a month or so to check email. He lets me pay the bills! :blushing:

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

Of course that counts!! Once you've lived in Texas you are always considered a Texan! It's the rule!

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

I have to laugh... I have told my 7 year old, but didn't really explain it well. So I asked her yesterday how school was and she said fine and then someone mentioned that she had told her class that I was having a surgery this week. I asked her exactly WHAT she told them and she said she told them that "her mom was having a surgery to put a big rubber band around her stomach so she wouldn't be fat anymore". It was too funny not to laugh about. In a way it's true. I just hope those kids don't go home and tell their moms! I am not nervous about the surgery either... well, not the surgery itself anyway. It's spending all that money. I just don't want to blow it afterwards. I love cooking, I love eating. But I can't continue down this path that I am on. My surgery is Friday so I am a day behind you... I'll pray for all of us!

HELP!! Not covered by ins. self pay

My insurance doesn't cover any kind of WLS either. I was trying to figure out how to come up with 15K but they found out that I had a hiatal hernia. My insurance will cover that. At least 80% of it. So my doctor agreed to fix my hernia and place the band while he was in there for 5K. So all in all it's costing me around $5400. That was a whole lot easier to manage than 15. Good luck and let us know how things work out!

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

Wow... there are a lot of us "Texans" around here. That's fun! I am in Kerrville, about 60 miles NW of San Antonio out I-10. I have surgery on Friday in San Antonio... Luckily my pre-op diet allows me one meal a day. Without that I think I'd go nuts! I just like chewing! And of course, today they bring in a big box of donuts for staff meeting. They smelled so good. Amazing how much of our cravings are psychological isnt' it? I can't wait to cross over to the banded life!

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

wow... 160 pounds. That's awesome. It's obviously worked for you. About not knowing who you are... I have a friend that lost 200 pounds with GB. Her personality has completely changed. She's much more outgoing now than she ever was. It's created some issues with her marriage, but I think they are working it out. I am sure you'll figure yourself out too. You've lost a complete person. That has to be a mind altering experience. I feel like I have a slim person inside of me begging to get out. I hope that she'll get out soon!

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

The one I used had a code you could copy that said "for forum signatures" or something like that. It was just an html code I pasted in my signature.

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

Hello all... I am scheduled for this coming Friday, April 25th in San Antonio. I can't wait! I've struggled with my weight since I was in my mid-20's so I am ready to make a permanent change! :tongue_smilie:

    Liquid Diet???

Well, that blows that theory. I guess each doctor is different. Anyway, it will be worth it in the long run!

    Liquid Diet???

One thing the dietician told me about the pre-op diet is that it depends on where you carry the majority of your weight. If you carry your weight right around your middle (in the abdomen) then they require a pre-op diet and that also determines how long of one you are on. If you carry your weight in your hips, thighs and bottom, then there probably isn't as much of an issue with the fat around your liver. I found a post here that showed the actual surgery on a UTube video. It was amazing to watch. You can see the fat around the liver and the tool they used to hold the liver out of the way. It was amazing to watch an actual surgery. I am going to show it to my hubby tonight.
  15. Thanks. That was extremely informative. I am going to show it to my husband tonight. It certainly explains a lot. I am not squeemish so it didn't bother me a bit. I was actually surprised that there wasn't more blood. The gross factor was seeing the fat and knowing that's what the inside of my body is full of!
