    Highmark BCBS

For my BCBS policy, the doctors had to document the 6 month weight loss efforts. Good luck & hope you get approved quickly!
  2. When I doubted my decision I would remind myself what surgery means for my future and how I'll be much more healthy soon. Hugs!

    Weird notice

This afternoon I looked at my feet and it felt like I was looking at someone else's feet. I even sent my husband a text about it. My ankles aren't swollen either. Tonight my husband said my fingers look longer now from the weight loss. When I put on a non sports bra this evening I was in shock! There's a huge gap in my bra now. Wasn't expecting that to be so drastic this early on.

    Arthritis Meds. After Surgery

My surgeon wanted me off Humira & methotrexate for a month before and a month after. My Rheumatologist was fine with the plan. My surgeon and his team were concerned about the meds affecting the healing process if I couldn't stay off the RA meds for 2 months. I'm nearly 2 weeks post op and have to say I'm pleasantly surprised at how well I've felt being off my meds. Two weeks before surgery I had to stop Mobic/meloxicam for good. It's one of those you can never have again after bypass. Good luck!
  5. Have you found any good low carb recipes that don't contain eggs? That's a little difficult for many of the replacement foods.
  6. Man these DQ Oreo Blizzard and Sonic new Oreo cone commercials are killing me! I never wanted these treats so bad before. I know my mind is messing with me but UGH!
  7. Welcome back @ellie123! We were all worried about you. Sorry you had to go through all that but glad you're on the mend now. Hugs!

    August bypassers/sleevers

Our bodies are strange creatures sometimes.
  9. Mine was the 23rd. I'm still struggling to get in all the protein but doing well otherwise.

    August bypassers/sleevers

Way to go on getting everything in! Tomorrow is 2 weeks for me and I'm still struggling to get in enough protein.
  11. Next week I get to start the soft food phase and I can't wait! Hubby & I went out for dinner tonight for the first time since before the pre-op diet. It was nice to get out for a bit. I ordered soup and just sipped on a little broth but did have a little sliver of avocado. YUM! Now hubby has lunch for two days from my leftovers. For a bit I was worried people might see me taking tiny "bites' of my soup and think I was totally weird. But I was quickly able to block that out.
  12. @Frustr8 it's almost time! Can't wait to hear from you tomorrow afterwards.

    Post bypass questions

You're welcome, @Chrisb428! Several people gained in the hospital. These few pounds will be gone before you know it.
  14. Did you order an assortment pack or something else? I'm trying to figure out what to order now.

    Post bypass questions

My first bm was 8 days after surgery. Per my surgeon's office, I drank Mirilax daily then added glycerin suppositories and even did an enema one night. My body just wasn't ready. Thankfully when I did go it wasn't bad. I started losing weight immediately, even before I came home from the hospital. My program says spices are okay but you might want to check with your doctor to be sure. I'm 11 days post-op and still have a little discomfort in my largest incision when laying down. Usually I have to shift around in bed until I'm comfortable. My normal sleep positions don't always work right now.
  16. Love following this thread. Can't wait until I have something to add.

    Assumptions

Like @Frustr8 said, lots of people assume I got so big because I'm lazy or something along those lines. I have health issues that have put me at a disadvantage. Previous meds largely contributed to my weight gain. Hopefully now I have the advantage back in my corner and can finally beat this beast.

    Constipation

My first bm was 8 days after surgery. I was freaking out but was so thankful when it happened. Thankfully I wasn't constipated.
  19. @_Shane_ Per my plan, I start pureed and soft foods next week at just over 2 weeks after surgery. I think we just have to keep at it with little amounts and keep chugging along.
  20. @MusicalKate13 my program allows fruit in protein shakes as long as they are strained out through a fine mesh strainer. It is crazy how different our meal plans are. I used to drink water like you. Sipping all day is so hard. My surgery was Aug. 23 and today my stomach has started the grumbling and churning. Been wondering why.

    August surgery ppl

Protein has been a struggle for me too. The dr was going to write me out of work for another week until I promised to up my protein intake. I'm still tired and know I'm healing but I'm ready for work. Thankfully my boss is very accommodating and is fine if I can only work a few hours at a time. But I'm really going to miss my daily naps. Ha!
