  1. Love your story. I will be two years out July 2nd. I feel great . I am super strict and help others be successful in their journey which helps me! I fear gaining wait every day... I never want to go back! I still ask myself what is my body getting from eating this food ... if the answer is nothing I tend to stay away from it, but I still like to have my salty Snacks occasionally. I just fear going back and I never want to do that. 2. I had this same thing happen to me when I ate left over fish. The pain was excruciating for 6 hours. I called doctors and she told me to drink meat tenderizer in warm Water. It took a while but if finally worked and I felt it pass. My blockage was in my stomach. The docto said sometimes when you microwave food I changed the consistency of the food. I totally understand how you feel, it was the worse pain ever .

So I had surgery July 2nd. Everything is trucking along but now, I get incredibly belchy while eat my liquid meals. And, I think I’ve fallen victim to the 3 week stall. In fact, my weight went up a half pound between today and yesterday and a half pound between Monday and Tuesday. Yeah, I don’t really have a question, just wallowing in my own self pity.

I also had surgery on the second. Dropped 0.4 lbs when I checked on Tuesday from the previous week. Was pretty down about it. We just have to stay focused.

I am also experiencing the belchy issue.

    Hi there,
Like many of you I’m a parent. I have a 9 year old and a 7 year old. My oldest is worrier by nature, therefore I haven’t mentioned the surgery in front of them.
I think I’ll wait until a couple of days before and share it with them. The question is what should I tell them? How do I explain it in a way that doesn’t make them worry about me. Obviously I’m their mom and they don’t see my imperfections so I’m worried they won’t understand why. I hope I’m making sense, thanks for your input!!

I have a 7 and 13 year old. I was honest with them. I said I was going in for surgery to make myself more healthy, so I can go for walks and hikes with them. My son was upset because he also worries, but I hugged and reassured him a lot. After the surgery they were helpful and supportive. My son still worried a lot and was upset but now two weeks out he sees a difference in me already.

My preop diet isn't going so well :( Surgery in 8 days.. can I shrink my liver and still be good these next 7 days??? Will i be okay?? i am panicking cause Im so scared about not getting my surgery :(

I was only on liquid diet 4 days prior to the surgery. I thought 4 days was rough but I can’t imagine more than that.

What are you taking in? I used Protein Jello and Protein Drinks. I ovoided times my family ate because it was so hard. I drank Water a gallon of water a day at least. Stick with it. You have this! This is one of the worst parts!

I had my surgery on the 2nd. I didn’t get out of the hospital until the 4th. I haven’t been able to ingest anything other than apple juice. I am trying my clear Protein Drink today. But I have to warm up all liquids in the microwave because of all the swelling. I really want to try sf Jello to get more substance because today I am feeling more hungry then ever. I haven’t been able to take any meds because they keep getting stuck in my esophagus and I end up throwing them up and they are all liquid.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of the hunger pains?

Sounds like you are dehydrated and that is why you are getting sick. Have you tried sucking on ice?

I am also experiencing the hunger pains today. I just had some broth which seemed to help.

I was feeling sick and I went back to timing my drinking and using the small medicine cup (30 ml). Fill larger cup with one part Water, one part apple juice, and ice. Fill medicine cup with mixture. Set phone timer for 15 minutes, Space our small sips throughout the 15 minutes. Wait 5 then repeat. This helped me .

  7. I had bypass on Monday with hernia repair....super emotional today. Rough night of sleep couldn’t get comfortable. Drinking Water to fast I think then I get sharp quick pain and it goes away. I feel hungry or maybe it is that I am tired of liquids the last two weeks. I was able to keep down a two teaspoons of Protein sugar free Jello this morning, it took 30 minutes to eat.

I am just trying to stay super positive. I am on the go 24/7 and not moving as much and being stuck at home is wearing on me. I know I need recovery time so doing what I can.

This forum is helping realize that I am not alone . Thank you!

  8. I am four days out right now and found that I was drinking to much to quickly. I was so concerned about getting dehydrated, especially with the high heat temperatures we have been having. I made the adjustments so hopefully I will be feeling better soon.

My doctor said that all liquids I consume now count towards 64 oz. That includes sugar free pops and ice cubes.
