    Breakfast ideas

I thought our bodies can't handle / process more than 30g of protein per meal? Are you saying you take in 64g of protein for 1 meal?
  2. My food funeral was the day before my preop liquid diet began. My bf cooked all my favorites in moderation so I was able to fully indulge without guilt. I didn't gain that day, but didn't lose either. LOL, could help that the 8 mos leading up to that day I had already cut most bad for me things out.
  3. I recently learned that the light roasts actually have more caffeine than dark roasts. So the blonde and veranda contain some of the most caffeine.

    Non Scale Victories

NSV, 30 days post surgery hiking Mt Rainer's skyline trail. Other than the 2 hour drive there, 4 hour hike and 2 hour drive back to Seattle, feeling pretty good. Feel like the red eye will be a good time for a solid nap
  5. I've never heard of this app. After years of using a tracker, I've tried many over the course of years.... but I always return to My fitness pal. I even purchased the upgrade for the added benefits
  6. I can tell you at my surgeon's office getting a nutrition consult can take up to 3 months because they are slammed (with 3 on staff dieticians). I used to have to schedule my appointments 3 months out. Even post surgery, the earliest I got was December. It also took 38 days to get my surgery scheduled because of final insurance approval after I met all my requirements

    Confused

The average person loses up to 60% of excess weight, anything above 60% is based on you and how you follow your plan, exercise, etc. There are plenty of articles online that explain this. Using my starting weight at surgery here is a guideline SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY 80% of patients reach at least 175 lbs 18 months after surgery. 50% of patients reach at least 159 lbs 18 months after surgery. 20% of patients reach 143 lbs 18 months after surgery. 8. Interesting article, but honestly I blame the FDA on allowing the garbage we put into our foods to keep shelf life. This has happened multiple times and tested by me each and every time. I visit Europe, eat basically what I want and lose to to 10lbs on every visit, and the trips range from 3 - 5 days. I took my mom to Hungary at the end of May leaving her there and flew back 2 days later - I ate bread (which I do not eat in the US), I ate fruit (which I limit due to sugars), I ate desserts (which I avoid because of sugar and carbs) and left 5lbs lighter than when I left the US. I returned to Hungary 2.5 months later and did pretty much the same thing - my visit was longer (due to family obligations) and lost 10lbs I'd been struggling with in the prior 2 months. I ate weiner schnitzel, drank wine, cognac, had dessert or ice cream nearly every day and definitely enjoyed the fresh crusty bread. Drank Soda (which I rarely do, but they have the best Orange Fanta in the world) This same thing happened 3 years ago when I visited Hungary and Greece - I was between the two countries a total of 7 days and lost 15lbs. I had a PCP (who has since retired) and he and I could talk for hours about how bad the food we eat in the USA is. Not only because we pump our meat full of hormones, but the preservatives we use to keep foods longer. Margarine was created to fatten cows and one day someone said, hey use this instead of butter.... IMHO, we are our own worst enemy, we created obesity by forcing families to be on tighter budgets and purchase foods that are pumped full of awfulness. Let's face it, to be healthy, it's not cheap.

    Stalling Early ON

This chart really helps me and puts things into perspective when I see a stall (aside from listening to the pros like @sillykitty). Hope it helps you too

    Pre-Op Anxiety

I was just like @Frustr8 - totally calm, ready and smooth sailing. I think my family was more nervous than I was. I totally trusted my doctor and had been a patient at the hospital before so I was ready to just get it over with. This is an exciting time, yes, there are no reversals when it comes to the sleeve, but do you really want to be able to consume all that you did prior to making this choice? I know for sure I don't ever want to eat that way again. When I fell off my healthy wagon, I ate junk and loads of it. I don't ever want to go back to having the ability to gorge on unhealthy foods. I only hope my new belly agrees and keeps rejecting unhealthy stuff.

    Preop Diet

As Matt said, the pre-op does suck. Just always remember to keep a bottle of water with you. I never leave the house anymore without my water bottle filled. Get creative with your liquid pre-op. Get canned soups (make sure low in fat, sugar, carbs, etc) try to go for the broths, if you like to cook make your own broths and strain and this will help keep you fuller longer.

All I want to eat is cheese!

This looks like my place... lol I have our cold cuts drawer in fridge dedicated entirely to cheese, and every grocery trip involves getting more cheese. [emoji41]
  14. Of all things post surgery (4 weeks), eating too fast is becoming an ongoing problem. One that I only have at work. How did you retrain your mind at work to slow down the eating process? Although, only at work do I suffer with this problem. At home, I'm good and in control. I'm on the soft foods stage and now that I'm thinking about it while writing this, it's entirely possible I didn't count to 30 in between bites. And now, totally suffering from it . Lesson Learned.... I will really have to concentrate on counting my chews and not let other people's fast eating get to me.

    Eating too fast

I'm doing much better. I have to make a conscious effort to count my chewing and make sure I slow down.

    Day 1

I'm so sorry! Was this the first day for both the turkey and cheese? Something similar happened to me my first day with scrambled eggs, a little shredded cheese and guacamole. I ate 2 bites (small) in total and got sick. Since then I've had eggs and cheese separately and together no issues. Haven't dared to try the guacamole again yet. Anyway, where I'm going with this, it's said not to introduce "new" foods simultaneously. Choose 1 new item today and 1 tomorrow. Wait a few days or weeks and try again. Wishing you luck

All I want to eat is cheese!

I've tried the Aldi version, I like them. Have you tried these (see pic) for cracker alternative?

All I want to eat is cheese!

Ricotta Bake has your favorite craving "cheese" If you can have veggies, make a zucchini lasagna (substitute pasta for layers of zucchini), homemade alfredo sauce with anything really, creamy soups, chili (I make it with ground turkey and for variety I made both white chili and regular). Are you now on regular solids? If so, your options are limitless.

    Worried that I am failing

An email literally just popped up with what's the best way to to treat nausea? I thought I'd clip this for you in hopes maybe (just maybe) it could help: Consider ginger, which is one of the best-known home remedies for nausea. You can take it in a tea, as a lozenge, or via ginger-spiced foods. Peppermint aromatherapy, a fancy way to describe smelling peppermint oil, can also help reduce nausea. OTC Medications That May Ease Your Quease If natural remedies don’t work for you, there are a number of over-the-counter drugs that may soothe an upset stomach. However, the type that will work best for you ultimately depends on the cause of your nausea, Dr. Arthur says. For example: If you have a stomach bug, it will probably just have to run its course, though Pepto-Bismol might be soothing. For nausea due to motion sickness, Dramamine is worth a try. If you have occasional heartburn with nausea, Tums, Mylanta, or Gaviscon might help.

    Mental health

While your body is healing it's also releasing many hormones which could cause a temporary imbalance. As your body normalizes (as best it can) so will your hormones. If you still feel out of sorts, contact your surgeon and he may be able to give you something during this period.
