  1. Nicole,

Just be patient and try to get as much Water as you can stand. I was going through the same thing and yesterday my hunger returned. The swelling must have finally went down, cause now I am able to eat pudding and even some mashed potatoes. Just keep the Water up and I promise the pressure will ease up.

Just a word to the wise....last night while sleeping I turned over and layed on my port site. Took about 30 secs. for me to get up in pain. Took some pain meds and finished sleeping in the recliner. Might take up residence on it for a few days until it gets a little more healed.

  2. Suffering Stacy,

I was banded on the 29th, and at first I thought I was gonna die. Today I am starting to feel better to the point where I want to go do something (ride my motorcycle), but that's probably not gonna happen. Luckily, my ex-wife kept my child during this last weekend. Only had my stepson and wife here. It was tough not getting cranky with him, but I am pretty sure it was the surgery causing that.

Cannot even imagine having that kind of stress on me after what we just went through. Maybe it will calm down a bit today.

Btw, it was nice meeting you.

    Manic Mike

  3. Nicole,

I was banded on Thurs. and am having the same feelings you are describing. About all I know to do is just keep drinking slowly and make sure your hydrated.

Last night I tried some sf pudding and it felt really heavy in my chest. Not for sure how to describe the pain, but kind of like a rolling pressure. Luckily I am experiencing no hunger pangs.

And lol....since I have been banded I have a new motto:

"If I would have known it was going to hurt this bad, I would have put the cheeseburgers down years ago!"

  4. Cashmere,

I am on my 3rd day out and am finally back to breathing normal. It gets better. Still taking my pain meds, but I managed to make a trip to Walmart earlier. It gets better. Day 1 and 2 I was thinking I had made the wrong choice, but today it's manageable.

Both of you just keep taking the pain meds and holding on for tomorrow.

  5. AmberK,

I am on day seven of the pre-op diet and it gets better. The only thing I have really noticed is I am making alot of mistakes at my job. Normally I am pretty clear-headed and work with million dollar machines, but I just seem to be in a fog.

You would think if anything I would be more clear headed than normal

Oh well, maybe it's like a heroin junkie kicking the habit..lol

  6. Howdy folks,

Started day one of my pre-op diet. Last night I grilled out and had steak and sausages. That's probably going to be my biggest thing I will miss. Oh yeah, drank almost a 12-pack of Bud Light while grilling

It's all very much worth it. Especially if I have a few more years to be here with my son.

Also starting Chantix in the morning. Looks like since I can't eat much after the band is applied, it might be a great time to quit smoking also.

  7. Howdy,

Have insurance with Cigna and completed my 6 month supervised diet. The surgeons office submitted my paperwork and I was declined.

Reason: No psychiatric eval. or nutrionist visit.

So, my girlfriend had her cosmetology test yesterday in Little Rock and I set my appts. up then so we could get it all done at once.

Good news....contrary to what my ex-wifes have said, I am not crazy ;)

She did tell me after talking with me for awhile that she thought I was very committed to getting this done. I agree

After that I met the nutritionist. And you would never believe where.....

Famous Dave's restaurant. Lol. A friend of mine called while I was meeting her, and he said "Isn't that like attending an AA meeting at a liquor store?" She just laughed.

Anyway, those two things will be submitted and hopefully I will hear back in a week or so.

Just wanted to tell someone, because I am happy!

    Michael

Oh yeah, and the nutritionist told me I look remarkably like Bill Engvall the comedian. I asked her if she smoked her Breakfast ;)

  8. Just introducing myself...my name is Michael and I have been pursuing getting the lap band done.

I have already completed the 6 month doctor supervised diet and am waiting for them to submit it to insurance. Hopefully I will get approved and maybe even a June band date???

I have always been overweight. Very excited at the prospect of being much thinner. I also set a goal that when they give me my surgery date....I will quit smoking also.

Anyway, just wanted to say howdy!
