    Question about Moderators

What, and miss all this fun today? I've learned a lot myself. As usual, LBT never fails to "learn" me something new everyday.

    New Orleans in Danger again

Vegas ~ That is excellent!! I love it!!
  3. Hi Beachee!! It's good to see you. I haven't lost for weeks until my first fill. Per my surgeon, it was the most he's ever given anyone at the first fill.....2.5 cc's. Each person is different as well as their band. Perhaps you do need an aggressive fill. My surgoen did mine under flouro and I was able to watch the liquid go through until it slowed to the desired pace. I guess that's a slight pause? It was nice to see and I visualize everything I put in my mouth going through that little hole. In my little world of experience, I would definitely choose to go with a fluoro at this point. It's really hard to say what is going on for sure. Cindy ~ I love your signature. Too funny!! I wish you both the very best!!!
  4. I went through a peanutz phase too. Loved to eat'em up.

I saw Jeb Bush on the Weather Channel. Is it me or has he gained weight? He looks really different. Almost puffy like someone on steroids. Anyone from FL know the poop....ooopps.....I mean scoop.

May 2006 Band Crew ~ August Chat

Yes, Janey. We will take count EVERY pound. Did you know that 4 sticks of butter = 1 lb? I try to use that visual when it's a quarter of a pound to a pound. Helps me feel like I'm really doing something. Way to go Kim!! You stayed the same and that is awesome. :clap2: And you worked out to boot? On vacation? Your more woman than I am. :biggrin1: Glad your back home and away from Ernesto. I love watching the weather channel. There's a thread about Ernesto that is interesting to say the least. Gosh, I am wondering when I'm going to get off this cloud since I've had my fill. I feel so empowered. I hate to say b/c I don't want to jinx myself, I've lost 6 lbs since Fri. We'll see what the scales say on Thurs. liquid in = liquid out. It may level off and change when I go back to real food. My doc said 2 days Clear liquids, 2 days full liquids, then on regular food. I have to admit though I had my Protein shakes with milk on Sat....even had a banana in it. :hungry: I was so hungry. One thing for you to know Kim, I wished I had eaten a regular meal before my fill. I was thinking I should keep my stomach sort of empty b/c of the swelling so I only had a cup of coffee, Water, and some crackers. I was about to pounce on the dog food. STARVED!!! Can't wait for you to get filled. Are you having the fluoro? It's a piece of cake. Feels like a mosquito bite.

    R U a NASCAR Fan...Let's Talk!

Smoke is enough man for 2 to share, but I do think I had him first. HA Karen ~ You long lost soul. Good to see you back!! :clap2: I have NEVER heard Jr booed (the spelling check says this is correct, it doesn't look right ) like that in my life. Carl was WAY out of line going after him on the track with his hand out the window and for going into victory lane. I like Carl, but I think the real guy has yet to be seen. Looking at the replay, Carl bobbled and Jr could have checked-up, but that would have caused a wreck with Robbie. Jr made the right choice as far as I'm concerned. Hey, don't be a stranger. How's the band treating you. Hope we don't get scolded by the LBT police for getting OT here. :rolleyes

    New Orleans in Danger again

I love to talk about the weather. They just said on the weather channel that they have closed the schools in Miami starting tomorrow. They want to give people a chance to prepare I guess. I hate the destruction that comes with things like this, but I am fascinated by the power of nature. Kind of reminds me of sharks. They scare me to death, but I love to watch them on Discovery Channel.

    New Orleans in Danger again

This does make for a good thread....at least me thinks so. I've learned a lot. I think T.O.M does make a good point in that many people involved in Katrina did not have the resources to "get out" or did the best they could to find protection. Many of these people can barely afford food let alone insurance. Having experienced times in life where I didn't have 2 dimes to rub together, I can understand. They do the best they can. Not to mention, in some cases the local government let people down along with the double disaster of our own country letting these these dear people down. My heart goes out to the people. Unless I'm wrong (please say so) I think this was the point of this thread was not to induce panic, but to bring awareness. Perhaps more people will consider volunteering in areas of disaster.

    Thread Killers

I haven't had a mammogram yet, but I can say that I much prefer a PAP over going to the dentist any day of th week. I've never had a painful PAP with the exception of last year when the OB was training a NP. No more trainees for me.:phanvan
  15. I agree with this. There are some members on here that have lost a LOT of weight without a fill. I think the key is realizing it is a "tool" to be used. My tool worked just fine and helped me take of 25 lbs without a fill. It takes work from the individual as well. You can't expect the band to do ALL the work. Now I'm enjoying restriction and the weight is coming off again. You see, I have been at a stand still for a few weeks. The fill is just what I needed for my tool. It's so individual that you can't lump it all into one size fits all mentality and that includes that it takes a fill for it work and the other way around.

    Question about Moderators

Your right Wheetsin. I know there are numerous ways to find and track IP's and such. This thread triggered my thoughts on this as it seems to have become a recent issue. I appreciate your input. If ANYONE finds it necessary to indicate "Alex that he can't manage his own staff", should move on. I don't see that at ALL. It would be a shame. Any way you look at it, we are all guests of LBT and this site does not belong to us. Who are we to moan and complain when there is something we don't like? If you don't like it, move on. There are many other sites to choose from. I loved the Thank Mods & Alex thread. We should thank them more often and let them know how much we appreciate this site. I also like the fact we can come forth with legitimate questions and share information. This is interesting as many have pointed out.
  18. Hi Ginger. Congratulations on your band and WELCOME to LBT. You have found a great community to call home. We're like a big family in every sense. Sorry that no one has responded yet. I'll do my best. 1. Is there such a thing as "too much" liquid the first few weeks? I don't think so. You do want to sip and not gulp b/c you are probably still swollen. 2. I am a side sleeper. Since my surgery was so recent, is it ok to sleep on my side? I couldn't sleep on my side right away. After awhile, I used a pillow tucked under my belly and it felt sooo good. Use your own judgement on what feels good. Your not going to damage anything that I'm aware of. 3. Has anyone actually "not" had to have fills to lose weight? I was banded on May 26, 2006 and got my first fill this past Fri. I took off 25 lbs during that time. There are some people on here that lose and never get a fill. There are others that don't lose at all until they get a fill. The band is very individual. Follow what your band tells you. 4. Anyone know where to go for a fill in the Central Florida area that does not cost a small fortune (I had my surgery in Mexico) Can't help you there. I think there is something called Fill Centers USA or something. Do a search with the key word Florida. I bet you'll find what your looking for there. Good luck and I hope the band is very successful for you. Again, welcome and be sure to ask lots of questions. That is how we all learned. :welcome:

It's a great day to be alive!!!

You know, my FIL is in Crossville, TN and they have said how HOT it has been there. I'm glad to be here. You never know what to expect from one day to the next, but that's OK. I'm sure your fill will go great as well. Every day the scales keep slipping down. If I had known this, I would have gotten my fill a long time ago. Figured it gave me time to work on the head hunger thing. LBT can always use a cheerful post. I hope this can pick someone up today. It's corny, I know however, truthful. Luv you too my friend!!
  20. Can I just say, it's a great day to be alive?! I am just so happy and wanted to share. I got my first fill on Fri and now I feel as though I've gone from a stationary bike to a Harley-Davidson. I have lost 25 lbs without restriction and I can't wait to see what happens next. My scales are finally moving for the first time in weeks. It's amazing. I LOVE RESTRICTION!!!!! I took a walk this evening and it's just beautiful here....currently 73 degrees. It rained earlier today and it was nice to smell the country air and listen to the crickets & cicadas. I was thinking of how fortunate I am. I have a beautiful family AND I'm losing weight. Just ignore this is you think it's corny.....it is. I just wanted to type how I am feeling. I love LBT and am thankful for this site!!!

    Question about Moderators

Allow me to quote Alex, for which I'm unconditionally thankful for. These are HIS words from the Locking Threads thread. Wheetsin indicated the mods have to follow the same rules as members. I just wonder how ANYONE including mods moderate this activity? <TABLE class=tborder id=post229118 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=thead id=currentPost> 05-24-2006, 01:14 AM <!-- / status icon and date --> </TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt2 style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px"><!-- user info --><TABLE cellSpacing=6 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2>http://www.lapbandtalk.com/image.php?u=1&dateline=1136334617</TD><TD noWrap>alex <SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_229118", true); </SCRIPT> Mr. LapBandTalk.com </TD><TD width="100%"></TD><TD vAlign=top noWrap>Join Date: Jul 2003 Age: 28 Posts: 244 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- / user info --></TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt1 id=td_post_229118><!-- message, attachments, sig --><!-- message -->While I'm on a roll..... How do mods handle this? I know this happens a lot. Kathy makes an interesting point. Do mods have the ability for more than one screen name? Just wondering.
