    Going out to eat

I know exactly how you feel as I live in Vegas! But this is the way I looked at it. I made a lifestyle change by having surgery. Part of making healthy changes for me is giving up going out to eat. Yes, there's healthy choices rating out but its a slippery slope. And post op, very easy to push it a little and eat beyond the half cup or cup of food you should be eating. I will go to a restaurant for a special event or for business meeting ect but for the most part, try my hardest to stay away from eating out. Eating out is one of the reasons I am overweight to begin with. Even on vacation I have chose to go to the grocery store and buy yogurt, fruits, veggies ect. Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk

    Struggle

All your going through is normal. Each day you will feel a little better. What worries me is the people that post they went to Disneyland the next day or a week later are running. Your body has been through alot and its going to take time to heal. It took me till about two months till I felt normal again. No surgeon or therapist can prepare you for what you really go thru physically and emotionally. And of course everyone is different but you will be just fine and in a short time you will have no regrets! Take care and hope your feeling better! Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk

any sleevers in their late 50's

I started walking at the park in July. Built myself up adding more days per week and distance. Its Vegas and its HOT! I walked at 630 am and still sweat like a fiend. I stopped walking a few weeks ago as it was over 100 decrees early morning and after one extremely hot day I got dehydrated. I've been exhausted since and trying to get my strength back its been all I could do to go to work everyday and do daily chores. I know..there's always an excuse. But yes, I plan to start back up. any sleevers in their late 50's

Thank you everyone for your support and kind words!! I just hate that with whst my doctor said, even though i did my very best, it felt like hes saying "your still not good enough". Brings back memories of my dad telling me as an overweight child that I would be over 200 lbs before I turned 16, he was disgusted and told me Your so fat. No one will want you. You will never get married. And because of that and of course tons of other reasons ..I kept eating..and when I became 16 I hooked up with anyone that would have me. At 18 , I roped my abusive boyfriend into marrying me so that I had someone. My whole life settling because I felt I didn't deserve the love of a good person. Who would want me at over 200 lbs. And then each year gaining a few more pounds. Till some stranger at the dog park came right up to me and said "YOU need weight loss surgsry . your going to die". That was a slap in my face. The nerve of people. I'm that disgusting that a stranger thinks they have the right to walk right up state what they are thinking. You can figure out the rest. Here I am. 4 months post op. I haven't failed. I no longer need blood pressure medication and I have a lot of non scale victories. And actually I'm fine with my weight loss progress. I'm going to stay positive and keep on the path I'm on. Sorry for the rant..I appreciate this site and all of you!! Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk

any sleevers in their late 50's

I'm 56 and sleeved in may. Saw my primary care doc today for four month follow up. I've lost 50 lbs since surgery. Guess I should say , I started at 324 lbs. I feel I've been doing everything right. I've been happy with my loss. 50 lbs in four months to me is awesome. Then Doc tells me he expected me to loose a little more. What?? No..No. He's not going to rain on my parade. God is good. I came through this crazy rollescoaster ride and I've landed with my feet on the ground. I've been eating all healthy foods and doing the best I can. No, I haven't started exercising. I didn't feel I was ready. Barely eating enough calories to live. Maybe hes giving me a little push I needed but I still say he's not going to rain on my parade....I'm going to remain proud of my accomplishment. I Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk

    No period since surgery (May)

I had surgery on the same day as you!! May 2nd.. I'm losing the same as you 1 to 2 lbs per week if lucky. I've had plenty of weeks where I didn't lose. In fact the whole last month I've lost maybe two pounds. I'm OK with that. I dont feel its slow at all. Our bodies are adjusting. I'm 56 yes old and I think age has a lot to do with it. I'm sure you've lost in inches!! Does your surgeons office have a support group you can go to or do you have insurance that covers seeing a therapist? I attend a support group once a month and its really helpful. Cky Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk

    6 days post op STARVING

I had the hunger also!! I woke up after surgery with an image of a big Mac in my head. My stomach would growl loud!! I was so disappointed the first weeks after surgery because I expected not to feel the hunger sensation. My stomach settled down and it went away. The nurse told me that it would and she was right. I hope your feeling better already! Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk

    3 Months Out

Your weight loss journey is amazing! Your story is inspiring! You loik great! I also had sleeve surgery in May. Its been a rough road for me and I'm finally feeling like myself again. I've had no complications but I feel its harder to go through at an older age. I'm 56 yrs and post op weight was 315 lbs. I've lost 40 lbs. The last month I've been up and down a few lbs. Don't think I've lost a pound in the last month. But I'm OK with that. I'm looking at it as 40lbs down. I know the stalll is nothing I'm doing wrong. I eat to live now. Everything I eat is healthy. My surgeon told me not to cheat at all for six months and I'd be successful. He said no pasta, breads, rice, sweets, or baked goods. I don't eat out and I don't eat processed foods. I'm following what he said. And I'm going to be patient. I know when my body adjusts, I will start losing again. All the regret I had over having the surgery is now gone and I'm looking forward to a more active life. Sent from my Z970 using Tapatalk
