August bypassers/sleevers
Hi Mel....I’m doing well! I’ve been moving much more so I’m getting this pulling feeling below my belly button but only when I move which leads me to believe it’s a muscle. I’ve lost 9 pounds since surgery which is great. I’m getting sick of the full liquid diet though....all I eat is yogurt. It’s getting old ?

Calorie intake
I’m also in the 400-500 calories a day on the fluids stage. (13 days post op). I don’t think that’s bad as there isn’t a limit. The focus is on water and protein. I’m struggling with water too. It tastes sooo bad to me. I’ve been adding lemon slices and that makes it a tad bit better.

Calorie intake
So you’re saying that anything at this stage counts as fluids really....I think that’s where I’m going wrong. I’m thinking that I can’t double dip. Count something for protein and water.

Calorie intake
I notice that people who are consuming more calories, have lost awesome amounts. I’m 9 days out eating about 300-400 calories but struggling with water. I haven’t lost in the last 4 days.

Lagging taste in mouth
How have you been my surgebuddy?? I’m feeling much better, but not dropping weight fast (or as fast as I imagined). I’m down 6-7 pounds since 8/4. Hope you’re doing well!

Incision infection
The hospital told me to shower the night before and morning oh my surgery with antibacterial soap. I kept using it post op as well....I figured I already have it, might as well use it.

I want to use a straw so bad!!
So I decided to go ahead and use a straw....and it didn’t effect me at all! I really can’t say that it cause any extra air or discomfort. Thanks for everyone’s input!

I want to use a straw so bad!!
Hello all, I’m 6 days post op and according to my doctor/dietitian, no straws until 6 weeks out. That is just not working for me. I’m used to my water bottle with a built in straw and I’m not drinking enough because I’m not allowed to use the straw. I’m thinking about ignoring this rule....thoughts/opinions??

August bypassers/sleevers
So was I! I had my 5 days post op check up yesterday. It went well, I’m able to drink a little easier now. Couldn’t keep anything down days 1,2. Drinking was painful days 3, and part of 4. Yesterday was much better. Hoping for easier days to come. How have you been?

August surgery ppl
Hey surgery buddy! I wasn’t prepared for this either....it’s much harder than I thought. I just keep telling myself that each day will get better. They sent me home fairly quickly and I spent the first 48 hours vomiting anything I tried to put in my mouth including water. Today is the first day where I’ve been able to have 1/3 of a yogurt cup and a few spoons of cream of chicken soup. Pretty sure I’m not going according to plan as far as protein and water but I see the doctor on Wednesday. Good luck!

1st meeting with surgeon (dr. Krause)
Hi there! I just had my vsg on 8/3 late in the day because I was delayed 3 hours. The surgery went well he saw a hernia that he fixed (we didn’t know it was there) They sent me home the next day at 3pm. I’ve been having a hard time keeping anything down. The hospital called and said if I feel signs to dehydration I should contact the weight control center I went through. Good luck to you! Every day it gets a tad bit easier!
