I’m also in the 400-500 calories a day on the fluids stage. (13 days post op). I don’t think that’s bad as there isn’t a limit. The focus is on Water and Protein. I’m struggling with water too. It tastes sooo bad to me. I’ve been adding lemon slices and that makes it a tad bit better.

So you’re saying that anything at this stage counts as fluids really....I think that’s where I’m going wrong. I’m thinking that I can’t double dip. Count something for Protein and water. On 08/12/2018 at 23:25, GreenTealael said:
People who stick as close to their plans as possible will lose weight. Calorie count can be deceptive without background information like what type of foods are being consumed (but that's a whole different debate for a different time)
Are you trying to drink pure Water only? All fluids consumed count towards your hydration goal. This includes pure Water, milk , broth, Protein Shakes, teas, coffee, crystal light ,vitamin water zero, Powerade zero, gatorade and even sugar free popsicles...

I notice that people who are consuming more calories, have lost awesome amounts.
I’m 9 days out eating about 300-400 calories but struggling with Water. I haven’t lost in the last 4 days. -
How have you been my surgebuddy?? I’m feeling much better, but not dropping weight fast (or as fast as I imagined). I’m down 6-7 pounds since 8/4. Hope you’re doing well!On 08/10/2018 at 18:15, YoBL said:
I have this taste in my mouth that I can’t shake. Makes everything I drink awful.Frustr8 reacted to this -
The hospital told me to shower the night before and morning oh my surgery with antibacterial soap. I kept using it post op as well....I figured I already have it, might as well use it.

So I decided to go ahead and use a straw....and it didn’t effect me at all! I really can’t say that it cause any extra air or discomfort. Thanks for everyone’s input!

Hello all,
I’m 6 days post op and according to my doctor/dietitian, no straws until 6 weeks out.
That is just not working for me. I’m used to my water bottle with a built in straw and I’m not drinking enough because I’m not allowed to use the straw.
I’m thinking about ignoring this rule....thoughts/opinions??Frustr8 reacted to this -

So was I! I had my 5 days post op check up yesterday. It went well, I’m able to drink a little easier now. Couldn’t keep anything down days 1,2. Drinking was painful days 3, and part of 4. Yesterday was much better. Hoping for easier days to come.On 08/09/2018 at 00:40, Mel86 said:

Hey surgery buddy! I wasn’t prepared for this either....it’s much harder than I thought. I just keep telling myself that each day will get better. They sent me home fairly quickly and I spent the first 48 hours vomiting anything I tried to put in my mouth including Water. Today is the first day where I’ve been able to have 1/3 of a yogurt cup and a few spoons of cream of chicken Soup. Pretty sure I’m not going according to plan as far as Protein and water but I see the doctor on Wednesday. Good luck!On 08/05/2018 at 11:54, YoBL said:
I had my RNY on Friday. Guess o wasn’t prepared for the gas pain. It was sooo bad. I’ve been told that my heart beat is slow. They checked it several times and couldn’t see anything wrong. I’m about to go home and I can’t wait to get in my bed. Thanks guys for checking on me. I really appreciate it! -

hi Heather,
Im from MI too! Also going with Dr. Krause have you had your surgery yet?? mine is on Aug. 17th. Small world!!!
I just had my vsg on 8/3 late in the day because I was delayed 3 hours. The surgery went well he saw a hernia that he fixed (we didn’t know it was there)
They sent me home the next day at 3pm. I’ve been having a hard time keeping anything down. The hospital called and said if I feel signs to dehydration I should contact the weight control center I went through.
Good luck to you! Every day it gets a tad bit easier! -
I’m going in for a 2 pm vsg surgery! Please send prayers my way!! Talk to you guys soon.

Do I get my own room or will there be another patient? I’m scheduled to have my vsg done at Beaumont Royal Oak on Friday.
I had my kids there as well but used to get my own room for that. Just wondering.....thanks!!Frustr8 and KRush88 reacted to this -
Hello all!
Just got word that my approval came in and I’m scheduled for surgery 8/3. I’m nervous and excited.
Was wondering if anyone here has had their surgery done at Royal Beaumont in Michigan. Or is anyone has had it done by dr. Kevin Krause. I would love to hear your experiences. -
Yessss YoBL!! My first reaction was like “oh sh!t this is real” hahaha.
I’m nervous but giddy with excitement.YoBL, Frustr8 and BeeCat reacted to this -
Approval is finally here!!! They just called and said they got the letter. I am on for 8/3 and they’ll call me tomorrow to give me all the details. It’s soo surreal!

I’ve read on here that some people slept on a recliner the first few days. Maybe that will help!
It will all be alright soon!! -
@ktistinolivia omg!! I’d be a nervous wreck!! I called the doctors office last Monday and I think I’m calling them again tomorrow. They told me not to call insurance on my own because “they know who to talk to”. I’m going to need answers soon! I already have a splitting headache from lack of caffeine and I’m PMSing so they better watch out!! 😂😂

I’m on 4 Protein Shakes and a small meal. I too have had a headache. The sugar free Jello and popsicles help.

I’ve lost 9 pounds since surgery which is great. I’m getting sick of the full liquid diet though....all I eat is yogurt. It’s getting old 😂
