Hello everyone, I am 10 days post-op and man am I bored. I want to clean. It’s something I do a lot and I can’t really bend without pain and I don’t think my surgeon would want me using the swifter and hand vacuum. So, I’m pretty bored. Hate watching tv because it makes me “head hungry”. So yea, I have two more weeks before anything major. I go back to week in three weeks. Also my progress has been SLOW. For my weight I should have lost 10-30 lbs in the first ten days. I lost like 5-7. I lost 15lbs in the pre-op diet so I wasn’t expecting a stall so soon. I was stalled for like four days. So yea, that’s where I’m at if anyone has any advice or words of encouragement.

Laura's RNY Journey; Age 31 Starting Weight 365

MY SURGERY I woke up with a horrible migraine for the anesthesia. My blood pressure was extremely high. They pumped fluids, blood pressure meds, and pain meds They gave me a mask to cover my eyes from the light and an ice pack for my head.. My stomach didn't hurt at all. Using the restroom was annoying. My IV kept getting caught in my heart monitors and oxygen wires. They measured my urine each time and I usually went to the BR then walked and went again to avoid getting up a lot. I did not have a "leak test" as some have mentioned. I also did not have a "water chart". I was supposed to count my medicine cups of water, jello, and broth. I was able to drink a lot. I had no problem with hot and cold. I felt great unless I had to get up and down. Also, I arrived at the hospital at 5:30, had surgery at 7:30 and was discharged at around 9:00 the next day. WEEK 1 DIET Home was a little more painful. I take liquid Tylenol every four hours and Gabapentin three times a day. I also take Celebrex once a day. I have a nausea medicine everyday as well as a blood clots shot and a medicine to keep from getting gallbladder issues/stone. At this time I am not required to take vitamins. However, since I have the BariMelts I take them because I love the flavor of something else. My diet it pictured below. I sip on Protein water all day. I then occasionally pop out a broth ice cube and heat it for two minutes. I also try to eat half a protein jello each day (they taste awful). I ate an entire regular jello and I felt so full. I also have the Popsicle brand variety pack. I am not hungry at all. I have a tiny bit of "head hunger". I have not weighed myself because my stomach is so inflamed. This is three days post-op and it finally seems to be going down. I will probably weight myself tomorrow. -
Yes, I’ve been worried about drinking too much at once.

MY HOSPITAL BAG-PREP I finally hit 15lbs lost on PRE-OP diet! The 3 day stall is over! Going into surgery at 345! You can see my preparation of vitamins below and my hospital bag. I'm going with simple is best. I will wear a dress and flip flops to and from the hospital. I have one set of elastic pants and a workout top. My husband lives nearby and can bring anything I need. PREP I cleaned the house and all the laundry is done. My broth (chicken, beef, and bone) is in ice cube trays in the freezer. I have sugar-free popsicles, protein jello, protein water, and an assortment of zero calorie beverages and water flavoring. I have some protein soups, unflavored protein powder (to add to foods), vanilla protein powder, a variety or ready made shakes and a few powder mocha shakes. Some of my pureed foods are in my pantry so that I don't have to run out if I don't have to. -

GOT MY SURGERY TIME/WEIGHT STALL So, I’ve lost 13lbs in pre-op. However, my weight has stalled for about three days. I got my surgery admission time today. I go at 5:30 am on Wednesday! -
I take melatonin as well on occasion. No side effects for me. I’ve taken prescription ambien in the past which I hated. I don’t remember I think it gave me headaches. But there are a lot of prescriptions out there and if you’re willing to work with your doctor to try a few just keep trying a few.

Broth recommendations? Not a fan of it
Laura7 replied to Imanewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m really enjoying my once a day protein water from Premir protein. That’s something you can drink on the liquid diet. I bought the protein jello and it tastes horrible lol luckily I won’t be able to eat much of it...if I even try. There’s P20 water too. -
I’m having surgery in one day! I report at 5:30 am on Wednesday! Oh I hope I have the easier version of all of the July buddies in this group! If you’re religious pray for me on Wednesday!

Hi! My surgery is in one day! I report at 5:30 am Wednesday. -
Time to be honest!!!
Laura7 replied to Simpson062681's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, so my cheat was on day 1. I was so excited to start but there was leftover white cheddar popcorn and tacos from the day before. So I ate that lol. But the rest of day one was on track and everyday after. I am just one day away from surgery an 13 lbs down! -
So, my plan for week 1 was to drink a 90 cal. Protein water, have a 90 cal protein gelatin, and broth. Should I have two 90 cal. Waters? Do I wait 30 minutes before I eat the jello and 30 minutes after? Help! I really don’t know what you are supposed to do week one. They just gave me the list of items. Surgery is this Wednesday

How do you do 30/30 week 1?

Thank you! -
I have surgery in 5 days. I just stopped caffeine so I can go through withdraw if it happens. I will avoid it for awhile and add it in when I'm ready. I've heard it is not good during the healing process.

Congrats! My RNY is on the 25th as well as many others. Glad to have you! How is your pre-op going?
-
I have been under my 1,000 calories. I was at 850 yesterday. I’m supposed to eat five items and they are 130-200 calories each. So, I guess with popsicles and pudding it’d be 1,000. But I don’t think being under is a problem. That’s just my opinion.

I haven’t tried that. I used to be very artsy so that’s a possibility. I bought a puzzle and gave up because it was too hard lol. I do watch podcasts and I have been reading a lot. I didn’t really like audiobooks much. I guess I just prefer reading. Thanks for the ideas. I ended up taking the dog for a walk and calling my mom and now I’m going to go to bed so I am not tempted to eat anything!
-
So, I’m 9 days into Pre-Op and I have boredom hunger. I’ve struggled with “hobbies” my whole life. I really enjoy my work but eventually I wanted to keep work at work. I’ve taken up cleaning as a hobby lol. I’ve been reading a lot. I’m hoping exercise will replace my old tv binge watching habits. I absolutely cannot turn on the tv because I instantly will want to eat. So I’ve read more on social media. Every time I need to buy something I shop discounts and read lots of reviews to kill time before buying whatever it is. I just have this “void” that I’ve always known was there but I honestly to this day don’t know how to fill it. Oh and I call my mom like an hour a day and text my bestie.

WHAT DOES PRE-OP LOOK LIKE FOR ME? -3 shakes, 1 soup, and 1 bar per day (and sugar-free popsicles/water/tea) 11lbs down in 9 days! -
