How Long Post-op Until You Were Able to Eat Carbs & Fried Foods Again?
Laura7 replied to Littel_Urchin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! My two cents for what it’s worth. I have been making the things I want as bariatric friendly as possible. I’m enjoying adapting the meals my husband eats into low carb low sugar low fat as much as I can and enjoying what I eat. It’s just been a few things but I made myself a mini quesidilla, I had veggie chicken nuggets, I made “taco rice” without the rice and 1 ounce of each thing. I used zero calorie BBQ sauce and it was awesome on the nuggets. So, while this doesn’t answer your question specifically, if you are feeling like you want something consider looking up and adjusting the recipe. I don’t know the foods you listed but one thing I can say is that I have stuck with my program but I’m still enjoying what I eat. So yea, doesn’t answer the question but hope it’s helpful. :-) -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion

I know everyone is different. So, I looked at this chart and thought I had to be down 25lbs by six weeks. Yes, that is my goal but my nutritionist said I’m doing great because I’m following the plan and if I don’t hit that 25 lbs down it’s okay. Stalls happen, our bodies are all different. But I do think it’s a nice chart to reference. (Disclaimer I found this online not from my program) -

NEW HAIR CUT -
One more thing. My doctor said that since I had so much weight to lose he actually thought it would be best to do the sleeve and then do a revision so I could get to my goal weight. Of course I said no, RNY please, one surgery. Because I’m trying to get pregnant after and can’t have two surgery’s to wait four years to have kids! I’m 31

Some people don’t qualify for RNY. With my doctor it depends on your BMI.

WEIGHT UPDATE-almost 4 weeks post op Down to 328 this morning! In 8 lbs I will meet the “normal range” of weight loss after surgery. That would be 25 down in 6 weeks with two more weeks to go. Here’s a photo from my baritastic app of my losing. Also, I’ve been losing the app for inches and I’ve lost 10 inches overall! I have my first full personal training session today so I’m super excited! -

PERSONAL TRAINING So, I’ve done PT before. I was excited about the place I found; I thought it was in my budget. I felt like it was a bait and switch when I walked in a month later and they said the training I wanted was $200 more. Luckily, after a very stressful afternoon we found a middle ground. I start tomorrow on my twice weekly semi-private lessons. I really need this because I need the accountability. I already have aerobic equipment in my house so a gym doesn’t make sense. I need an accountability partner who will encourage me to meet my health goals. So, back to training for me. If I had never left maybe I wouldn’t have gotten to the size I was. Either way, it always brings a smile to my face to make progress with my physical fitness. -

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion

HELP! 1. Does anyone know how many net carbs (mine are not from sugar) we should be having in soft and solid food stage? 2. How much fat can we have? I feel like my fat percentage is too high because I only eat proteins and some are higher in fats. 3. How should I be tracking fats? 4. Should I be tracking the different types of fats? I see my nutritionist in a week and a half but I need to know if I should make small changes now. Thanks in advance. -

TIPS- Check out Baritastic meal and weight tracking app instead of myfitnesspal. It’s made for us! Don’t buy too much broth. I have 8 boxes left. -

Here is some food I’ve eaten. Jimmy Deans Light turkey sausage, eggs and potatoes 1/2 serving or less about 2-3.5 ounces. 130 calories and 8g of protein. The turkey sausage and cheese is 20g of protein but it usually takes me two sittings to eat it. -
1 lb a day on average. 500 calories or below. I’m 11 days post-op

Hey! So I stalled at 5 lbs for 3-4 days. Now I’m right with you, 10lbs down. So you are so on track.

I am so surprised I haven’t been shopping. I love shopping (probably my replacement addiction) but I haven’t had anything to buy.

So, my calories were about 300 the first several days. Probably a week under 400. Then I had a day where I realized I could eat something else and went over. I didn’t even count it. But I’m back on track since the scale finally moved despite my extra calories. I tried a bunch of things like hot tea and extra walking But my body just did not want to drop weight. It’s good to hear that you use your swifter. I will def be trying it now. I just have a large house so it can get tiring.
