Where does everyone live? (General area)

    Smyrna, Delaware (Central DE)
  2. Help! During the puréed and soft phase and beyond. I would like to know: POWDERS/SHAKES-What have been your best and worst protein powders? What were your favorite shakes? What was the best vanilla powder to cook with? APPLIANCES/UTENSIL- What appliances did you use? What tools did you buy (example smaller whisks/veggie bullet chopper) Did you buy a small slow cooker? I have a ninja and a food processor and a normal sized crook pot and a food scale.
  3. Do you have a 3 quart instapot or a 6 quart? It looks like the 3 quart would be better.

What’s your pre-op diet? I only ate like 650/700 calories today because I could only stomach half of the pudding (it’s like two cups) and I’m so full now that I don’t want my last shake which would probably bring me to 900 calories. I’m hoping tomorrow when I get hungrier I can eat all the pudding for that day. I ate the soup which again was huge and I had a protein shake and a bar today. I had a diet Snapple and plenty of crystal light (I always drink lots of flavored water). Are there ways to eat pudding? Is there anything I can do with it? I can substitute some of them for shakes which is probably what I will do. But then that’s 3 shakes per day which is a lot of liquid. Hmm I’ll try the pudding again tomorrow. Ah! At least I’m super full.
  5. Yea, so I used to make a big bath of protein waffles with vanilla whey protein. I would make several waffles and put them in zip lock bags for the week. You can even freeze them. They were so good I didn’t need margarine. Some people don’t like them. It was such a great easy breakfast when I got tired of eggs and oatmeal on other diets.
  6. Can you use proteinh20 as your water at some point? Just curious. I like water but it’d be a great way to do two things at once.
  7. I love Premir Protein - my nutritionist gave me a sample I think it’s great. The other two sound good. It’d be good to have a variety. As far as the powder, I used to make protein waffles, I forget what was in them now but they were pretty good. So mashed potatoes and soup, okay thanks.

    I was approved!

    Congratulations! It feels great!
  9. I also mean long term. I know there are shakes I loved but I honestly don’t remember the names. Also, I wonder if anyone found a small crockpot useful. It’s just my husband and I.

    July Gastric Bypass?

I’m so excited too! I’m on day 1 of my pre-op diet and I have used some kitchen tricks to prepare nun pudding ahead of time. I’m working on getting the soup mix just right. I’m sure I will lose quite a bit before surgery. I’m glad you are having icees as well!
  11. I’m a rule follower BUT I’m also a planner. So, what have you heard or experienced are the things you need do do after surgery before being discharged? All I have heard is possibly being able to walk to the bathroom or a certain number of steps and keeping liquids down. Help! I have surgery in two weeks!
  12. Great thanks. I just bought an inexpensive robe but I also have elastic pants I could pull up and tuck in the ship. The robe seems like something I might use the days following surgery at home so it won’t be a waste. Thanks for reminding me about a long phone charger. Will do!
  13. Thank you. Okay, I have slippers with tread. I’m wondering if maybe I should have a rob to just throw on.

    Little Green getting little(r)

Omg I read this book this Saturday and it was life changing for me. It was so motivational. As soon as I was done with the exercise chapter I was motivated to exercise. I’ve been getting up and moving the last four days and it feels so great. Amazing book, highly recommend.

    Stomach binder

Bariatric abdomen binder from amazon $34.99 on amazon which is the lowest for this item on any site I found. I ordered it but I have not had surgery yet. It comes in sizes based on the inches around your stomach.
  17. “Robard” diet (shakes, puddings, a soup and a bar per/day) for two weeks pre-op. Post op 7 days clear liquids, 7 days full, 7 days puréed, 7 days soft, then regular diet
  18. I have two weeks of a diet. It’s the “robard” diet. 1 soup, 1 bar and pudding and shakes each day supplied by the specific company. I am also excited to do the pre-op diet because I have struggled with weight loss before surgery. So, I’m glad to have something very structured to follow.

Wow! I wish I was at the point where I didn’t crave some of my favorite foods. It sounds like you will have a lot of success. I teach English Special Education. I’ve taught large and small classes mostly high school. I love my students and I’m finally at a great school that doesn’t add to life stress (much). So this is the school year to start focusing on me. I’m a little bummed because I just started exercising and now I need to not exercise for 6 weeks. I guess I’ll be walking a lot. Did your doctor give you recommendations about exercise?

I love the post it idea. I would like to teach proteins and carbs. I’m not a fan of electronic food journaling even with the whole graphs and charts. I like paper for that. I’m actually off work for the summer. I’m a teacher. Have you been able to lose weight since January? I really struggled.

    July Sleeve

So I started in November. I decided that I needed to do this so that my husband and I could have healthy children. I didn’t have infertility but I was thinking of conceiving and I decided gastric bypass was best for me. Dec-April was so full of appointments I used up all my sick days. May was finally a break just waiting to schedule a surgery date (and some back and forth with the office). No, I don’t have a diary. I kept one for nutrition appointments and they said I would just need a week or two when I go back. I will be keeping one after surgery. Before surgery I think I’m just going to eat the items I’ve been told to eat. What is your diary like?

Hey! I am sooooo excited! I had my pre-op today and I’m cleared! I picked up my “Robard” diet of shakes, pudding, bars and soups! I’m so excited to finally start this part of my journey! I was super worried but I was only up two pounds and he didn’t say anything about it. :-)
