I Was Amazed When I Heard This

Not sure what the issue is with steak as it has tons of protein. I’m just about 5 months out and eat 2oz of it weekly with no issues 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bra Extenders & Other Clothing Tricks

I don’t do thrift shops bc I’m afraid of bedbugs so everything I purchased was new. I buy one pair of jeans for each size down and I wear workout leggings a lot bc I’m at the gym everyday. The leggings last a lot longer than the jeans. My gym tops can last several sizes and don’t look too bad oversized. I have 4 dressy tops and I just rotate them out. That’s it! I also bought them all on sale none of them cost more than $15. I’m a stay at home mom though so I don’t have the challenge of buying work clothes.

When do you start losing weight?

Took me 2 weeks to take OFF the 10lbs I gained coming home from the hospital. After that I lost only 1-2lbs a week until I got my protein up and then was averaging 3-5lbs per week until recently bc weight loss has slowed down a little. I’m close to 5 months post op. Ive learned that even if you aren’t cheating and hitting the gym religiously there will always be stalls and slow losses. It will come off eventually though!

    800 Calories Per Day

3000 is too many calories if you want to lose in my opinion. I am not as far out as you though. At close to 5months out my surgeon says 800-1000 but I never consume that much bc I’m just not that hungry. I usually get 550-700 and that’s with a very strict 6 days a week gym routine with cardio and strength training. Hope this helps!

What was everyone's first puree ?

I ate a lot of black bean soup and lentil soup then. Also Greek yogurt. I can’t and won’t blend any meats or eat meats from cans it just grossed me out. Eggs tasted great but even at 4months post op go down quite heavy.
  10. Ohhh never thought to mix tea with it! I’m going to have to pick up some vanilla PP now to mix with chai tea 😋
  11. If it helps I do the half coffee half premier protein still today and I love it. Completely cuts the sweetness too. In the beginning I ate crushed ice constantly as that was the only way to drink water for me. By 1 month i know you will be meeting your goals try not to stress too much, but I know easier said than done.
  12. Mineral oil everyday is what my surgeon recommends.
  13. I had trouble in the beginning with pretty much EVERYTHING. Completely stressed out about it and it consumed me. Everything felt like lava going down the first few weeks but it does get better. I am a little over 3months post op and have no problems meeting protein goals although I still you a supplement everyday, either bars or shakes. I will say my weight loss didn’t pick up till I was meeting my protein goals and it bummed me out I wasn’t losing mine I should have in the beginning. I was losing 1-2lbs a week on those first few weeks, but now average 5lbs.

    Mommies getting sleeved

I had these same fears with 11,9 and 3 year old at home but everything worked out. I’d say the first 2 weeks it’s going to be all about you and trying to stay hydrated but after that it just goes back to normal! I’m three months out now and one of the best decisions of my life! My boys notice my weight loss and are excited for me. Good luck, you won’t regret it!
  15. Walking immediately and full clearance at 4 weeks post op. My surgeon encourages 1hr at the gym daily and 10,000 steps

    I don't understand!!!

One more thing I think your fluid intake is fine. I have no idea how people drink more than 64oz of water a day after the surgery. I am constantly drinking and hit around 50oz a day. My plan says 48oz minimum so technically I’m ok but I do wish I could drink more.

    I don't understand!!!

I’d definately ask your dr and bring in a few days of meals written out to see what you could tweak. It looks pretty good to me but maybe no mashed potatoes and just eat more protein to fill your stomach. I am 8 weeks out and have trouble meeting protein goals so I never get to the veggies or carbs. I’ll be the odd one and say that does seem like a long stall to me so close to your surgery and I totally get why you are frustrated. Are you exercising yet? I’m a slow loser so I added in a 1hr workout and weight loss increased to 3lb.

All I want to eat is cheese!

Hm... my plan states that cheese can absolutely be counted towards protein goals. There is a limit, but I never get there anyway and I LOve Cheese and eat it daily. I try to stick to 2 light string cheese a day and stay away from topping my chicken or eggs or whatever protein I’m having. It also satisfies the craving more IMO.

Any one go home the same day ?

Had my sleeve at an outpatient facility-went in at 6am and out by 3pm. I would have preferred an overnight for the iv pain meds and fluids (pills and water are very difficult in the first few days)but I was self pay and what I could afford.
  20. I’m about 7 weeks out and for the last several weeks I’ve lost about 2lbs a week on average. I understand this isn’t a miracle surgery and I’m happy for the weight loss regardless but I can’t help but think that’s about how much weight I would lose when I was dieting on and off for years before surgery. I’m getting all my protein, drinking water constantly and hitting the gym 5-6 days a week for an hr mixing strength training and cardio. Anyone else experiencing this or has in the past? When did the “rapid weight loss” pick back up?
  21. I loved this. So much truth... thanks for your response i needed to read that.
  22. What are some of your favorite meals and snacks? I’m growing a bit tired of mine but it’s usually hard boiled eggs, chicken burgers, deli meat, cheese and premier protein.

    Go to foods

😋looking forward to trying some of this stuff. My surgeons plan seems to be a little stricter with foods than a lot I see on here but the next “phase” will have a lot more.
  24. I just started a similar thread although I’m not eating tortillas. My foods are pretty boring I will be looking forward to reading the responses here.
