1. Patty, forgot to tell u how inspiring your slide show is...can hardly believe the woman i met in denver was the woman in those early pix..you r sooo beautiful...so youthful looking.

dee, remember that "groovy" t-shirt i bought at estes park head shop--orange-yellow sun on front/blue-purple moon on back? i washed it and it has now become my favorite shirt! it will always remind me of u, our little road trip, my great time in denver!

hope next time i come back (nov.?) everyone will be around to do the RR thing. by the way,am into my third week of PT for my "people-mover" injury. still is incredibly painful...we leave next week for our annual Ashland (Shakespearean festival) trip. walking will be tough. hopefully our 25th anniversary trip to provincetown, mass. won't be adversely affected.

  2. it has been pretty quiet on here. hope it's because we are all out having fun in the sun!

first day of garage sale (aka "cash-4-chemo") is behind us and we are up almost $2000!!! collecting, marking, staging: all a lot of work, but truly a labor of love. friends donated soooo much stuff we are going again today with everything at half price. mom still has no idea that she is the recipient of the proceeds. her reaction to the gift will run the gamut: initially irritated to tears and gratitude. will keep u posted.

  3. lotza, sorry to hear about dh's situation. am keeping good thoughts for u and yours.

eye is still swollen, altho' not like it was. mornings are the worst. my c-pack mask really pushes the limit on the eye area.

garage sale prep is going like gangbusters... more stuff than u could believe. my friends r so incredibly generous. i am blessed. mom still has no idea that she is the recipient of all this generosity. looks as if we might get about $1000; we haven't even gotten everything ready and have about $200!

the variety of goods is incredible. Y'all would wish u were here to pick up on such treasures!

  4. Our seven week Labor Day challenge "DLOWAL" - (odd name, I'm open for other ideas)

    Anyway, here are the challengers!

    Laptastic - 10lbs

    Mini - 10lbs

    Party - 20lbs

Any other challengers out there? Come one, Come all!

dee, put me down for 10 lbs.

Julie I love your avatar photo. You look great and always wear complementing colors for your red hot diva hair.

Great friends, I purchased a new living room set. It's a pitgroup in mushroom color made from microsuede if not finer than microsuede. It's a new fabric from LazyBoy. It has two recliners in the pitgroup and then two seperate recliners. My gift to myself and family and all who come to visit my home. An awesome place to sit down, relax and kick back.

Weight loss. I am diving into this next challenge shooting for 25 lbs.

How about " Labor and Delivery from Obesity Challenge"

For my fill. I did not eat anything the day of my fill. I ate lean the night before and only had liquids after 8 PM. Again, the day of, ate nothing. I just wanted a good honest gage of where my band was at

Constipation: Anyone have a good recipe for a BOOM BOOM? I have not had a BOOM BOOM in five days. I'm sure it is a cross between the pain meds, my reduction in solid food/change of menu. I feel bloated.

    Help. ANYONE.

mom was really constipated after surgery and found that good old milk of magnesia did the trick.

    Patty, loved the crossed fingers!

  5. munch, DO NOT give in to the beagle.... let some other family deal with the breed..... i AM the crazy dog lady if u go back and look at the $18k we spent on tucker last year! here we r a year later and he is doing well, given the fact that he is a 13-yr-old lab who went thru the trauma of last year. we were told it is a matter of "when" NOT "if" he will suffer asphixiate pneumonia...thank the lord he has been free of such so far. all u animal lovers keep ur fingers crossed for us

  6. not a sacrifice at all. that is what friends do.

check for scheduling options, and i can try to schedule a fill in denver at same time and then fly south from there. janet lynne is in full support of my assisting/accompanying you if you need me.

how much do you know about this doc and his clinic? plus, will insurance cover any part of this since the pannus has a debilitating effect on you life, work, etc?

  7. So, I am in the process of researching surgeons. I am glad to see that there is a doctor in the US offering affordable lapband surgery.

My concern is that, although Dr. K has a very low surgery price, won't the additional costs of travel bring the cost closer to that of other surgeons?

Considering the costs of two plane tickets (flying from florida with a friend or family member for support), car rental, and renting a hotel room for healing, I am looking at about another $2-3k on top of the $9950.

There is a doctor in my area offering the surgery for 12,200 and i wouldnt have to pay those travel costs.

How much did any traveling patients end up paying for their surgery with Dr. K. after including all of these other costs, or does Dr. K help with the travel arrangements?

i traveled from portland, or,had someone with me, rented a car, and stayed two nights in a motel. the additional cost was less than $1000. Plus, i claimed all of it including surgery costs on income tax since insurance didn't cover it. i have been back to denver three times for fills, each trip averaging $200...not much more than a local dr. would charge, but it was worth time and energy to have dr. k do the fills...plus of course i got to spend time with the local bandsters at red robin...a benefit that can't be quantified.

as dee said, u have to do what is best for u, but dr. k is the best.

  8. Julie, that's absolutely absurd. And I'm with Deb. Young'uns think we're all old and we think they're all children.

So I went in today and had what is, I hope, my last fill. I got .8 cc's - the most I've ever had at once. But since I've only lost 4 lbs in the past 4 months, I'm ready to be a bit more aggressive.

I plan to have my surgery in about 9 or 10 weeks. I would like to lose 15 lbs by then. I figure I'll probably lose 5ish lbs of skin. I'll be fairly close to my goal by then!! Woohoo!

It is my bandiversary tomorrow and I've lost a total of 54 lbs. Not where I wanted to be after one year, but I'm okay with that. I caught sight of myself in a mirror today and was actually quite pleased with what I saw. Yay me!!

    HAPPY BANDIVERSARY TO ME!

K, it's my bandiversary so I figured I'd post some progress pics. the "befores" are right before surgery, the "afters" are tonight - down 54 lbs.

    congrats...u r looking great!

dee, put me down for -.4....

i am getting so discouraged. weight is going nowhere slowly. like mini i have been stuck for months. i am tempted to give up denver fills and find someone here so that i can be filled more frequently..maybe to the size of a toothpick.:tongue_smilie:

  9. I took Kayleigh to Little Monkey Bizness (a indoor play area) and there was a 20 something mom there. I was taking pictures of Kayleigh, and I heard this mother say something about a grandma. Then I heard Kayleigh say "That's my momma" I heard the mom say something like "Oh, sorry".

This is the first time I have been mistaken for her grandmother (well... at least as far as I know) I actually had tears in my eyes. :) I realize things are what they are, and that I really am old enough to be her grandmother, but it was still quite upsetting to me ;(

I'm gonna go get my cane and shawl out of storage now...

JULIE, young people are no more able to gauge the age of anyone older than they are any more than we are able to distinguish a 15-yr-old from a 25 yr old! i see "kids" drinkin' in bars that i swear look as if they still need babysitters! :crying:

    u don't look old enough to be anyone's grandma!:P

  10. my hamstring is slowly getting better, but sitting is a bitch. hence, sitting all day waiting to be called for a jury, sitting nwith mom for 7+ hours during chemo, or nsimply sitting in movie ntheater can be a bitch. we are headed for star trek right now. also discovered i hurt achilles tendon on opposite foot. oh, well...

dee, that is quite the regimen you have going. no wonder u have done so well at losing.

lotza, sorry to hear about your health. stay hydrated.

  11. Dee, put me down for -1.7 this week. I, too, will be out of town for weigh in. We are leaving on wed. for our place at crooked river and aren't coming back until sunday. i will post then. probably won't be good as my best friened ann is going with us and that means adult beverages and laughter!

congrats to all of u who r doing so well. i feel like coming back to denver soon just to be with u wonderful women. the night at red robin was soooo much fun! PLUS i lost 8 pounds that week!!!

Dee, have a good time with your daughter.

Mal, Tucker sends u and buster sloppy kisses!
