  1. Deb,

Thanks very much for the good wishes.

Hope you have fun at the casino. I am planning on taking my MIL (if she is up to it) in early July....and I am looking forward to it!!! How is your mom doing, by the way?? (well, I hope)

    julie

well, home from the casino and WE ALL WERE LOSERS! we had a good time but wish one of us could win. boy, my butt really hurt all day..too much sitting, which pulls on the hamstring. will take3 a pain pill tonight. mom has three days of appts next week (including chemo) and i have jury duty....ah, the life of a retiree!!

  2. good luck to those with upcoming surgeries.

julie, glad to hear ur problem wasn't as serious as u first thought. hopefully, the dr. will come thru for u.

well, i take my dad to casino tomorrow. he has been soooo good taking care of mom...cooking, cleaning, etc. without a complaint. he hasn't been to casino since march, a month before mom's diagnosis. so this means i get up at 3am to pck him up at 4. then we are home by 2pm. hopefully we will be winners!:blushing::w00t:

  3. Okay, ladies, I am home, icing my butt,,,i have an appt with orthopedic dr. this afternoon. so "Grace" is getting medical attention.

So, how much fun did we have at RR?:lol::lol: For those who were unable to attend: you missed a good one.

Patty, Mal, Julie, Mary, and Theresa: it was ssooo cool to meet you all. Each of you is absolutely delightful. Dee, being with you is always a good time. Estes Park was fun....for 25 minutes! LOL:tt2:

I think it is very telling about all of us that we, as strangers, can come together and laugh, share, and feel comfortable. That is remarkable in this contemporary judgment-filled world. Thanks to you all for being such strong, wonderful women!

  4. Deb, when are you going in for a fill? I get one tomorrow and each time I go into Dr. K's office, I wonder if the other people in the waiting room are people I've talked to on here. Either way, I'll see you on Wednesday at Red Robin.

my fill is on thursday morning. then i leave on thurs. afternoon.

i arrive in denver around 10:30 on wed. morning. have rented a car and am staying in a motel not far from dr office. will probably drive around and shop or if weather is decent, sit by pool and read. Hey, guys, whatn is the weather like? tell me so i can pack appropriately, okay?

dee, i still have your number, so i will call u when i get the car and get to the ge3neral vicinity of motel.

i am getting excited! did patty get in?

  5. I'm returning to Denver in 4 weeks for my first fill. Dr. K said it would be in my best interest to get my first fill from him. The doctors here in Atlanta fill you very slowly and Dr. K tries to get you to restriction quickly. Sounds good to me! Anyway, does anyone know of a hotel that's within walking distance of his office? I was thinking I could take a shuttle to the hotel and save on the rental car. Dr. K does want me to stay overnight after the fill to be sure I'm not too tight. Thanks.

If you go for a day only, go on priceline and bid for a rental car. I am staying overnight this trip and got a great deal on hotel that I put a bid on. Saved enough that the rental car wasn't too bad.

  6. put me down for +2 this week. stress and wine...many appts with mom. her chemo starts next week. i am trying to schedule a fill for second or third week in June.am renting a car and staying one night this time. will check back in to see if i can meet up with you guys.

    mini, happy birthday...

lotsa, i am always in awe of family members who speak at memorials. the memories shared are what it is all about.

  7. Mom saw the surgeon yesterday. It is a cancer GENERALLY assoc. with asbestos exposure (like in those lawsuit commercials). They were confused when they saw it as mom''s lifestyle never involved asbestos. appt with oncologist is next tuesday, and then we will find out about options for treatment. dr. says this is a slow-growing tumor; removal is not an option.

the stress of this has manifested itself inmy right shoulder muscles...tight and painful.

  8. Thx , girls, for sharing your stories. ineed to hear those kind of things. she went in after an xray taken showed a "mass" on one lung. they said it was a collection of Fluid that needednto be drained. went into hospital to have drain tubes put in. still wouldn't drain so went into surgery on wed.

well, after removing pus and stuff, they found a tumor. the pus was from infection in the tumor. can't be removed as the tumor crosses over both lobes and some of itis around the arteries from the heart. the good news is her overall good health, her nonsmoker status, and her positive attitude all contribute to a successful treatment. She is 78; my dad 83 and in a frail state.

sorry this is so long but wanted to fill u in.

    thx for thoughts and prayers.

  9. put me down for -2.5.

well, don't know when or even if i will be posting again. life just threw my family a sucker punch. yesterday we were told my mom has lung cancer. will find out the specific kind and treatment this morning. it is a large cell carcinoma...only 10 cases on the books. this came out of blue and we are in shock. mom, however, is calm and accepting and strong. my dad and i: not so much.
